Wendi Adelson’s Ex Reveals He Thought He Was Being ‘Set Up’ For The Gruesome Murder of Dan Markel

- Wendi Adelson’s ex-boyfriend, Jeffrey Lacasse, took the stand and testified in Charlie Adelson’s murder trial on October 27. Lacasse dated Wendi Adelson around the time that the murder took place, but the day before Markel was killed, she decided to end the relationship. Lacasse says he heard Charlie Adelson joke about hiring the hitmen multiple times, but never thought it was a concern until Wendi Adelson revealed what her brother's plan was. Lacasse later was concerned that he might have been framed for the murder.

Would not be surprised to learn that Wendi’s whole relationship with Jeff was to provide an alternate suspect and the family hoped to frame him. This element of the case is why I can’t believe Wendi was not involved in the planning.

Her statement to Jeffrey about Charlie was told to make Jeffrey look bad as Wendi was thinking Jeffrey was gonna be interrogated as a real suspect as she was unaware Jeffrey had changed his plans and was out of town when the murder occurred. This all shoes Wendy's guilt IMO.

So glad to see Prof Jeff LaCasse back. HE BROKE THIS CASE WIDE OPEN 9 YEARS AGO. I was following this case from day one. He’s the most intelligent, authentic witness IVE EVER SEEN EVER ON THE STAND. He said she’s a pathological liar and evil. She tried to set Jeff up for this murder. So much RESPECT FOR THIS MAN. He’s a professor of social work. He’s lost a lot of weight since 9 years ago. So impressed with his integrity.

"I was under her spell, kinda pathetic..." wow, total honesty!
Mr. LaCasse didn't specify his reason for leaving on his trip the night before but that change of plans was serendipitous. It didn't dawn on me until he mentioned it, but the cell tower was key to his alibi. Who even thinks about cell tower locations? Mr. LaCasse is a gift for the prosecution. He's bright, articulate, patient and appears to be honest which makes him very believable to the jury. His meticulous attention to detail (he corrected the Defense attorney twice) and documentation of the events makes him a very strong witness. Plus, he wants to be there, he wants to answer questions from both sides to ensure the facts will be made part of the Record. The world needs more people like Jeff LaCasse.

While Jeff is coming across likeable, the defense lawyer is coming across as pretty deplorable! I dislike most defense attorneys, this guy's no different, however, he's quite comical in his theatrics! He's like a little chihuahua that thinks he's a Pittbull and can't wait to get up there and start barking. 😂😅🤣

Lacasse was an impressive witness on the stand. He did really well under cross. He not only came across as credible but he showed a genuine sense of character and integrity.
I really think that this man saved his own life by leaving earlier for his trip, because I really think they were trying to frame him for murder. The phone call from Wendi Adelson asking exactly what route he was taking and exactly when he was leaving is not just a coincidence in my opinion. He would have looked like the jealous boyfriend and he was supposed to take a route out of town that would have taken him directly by the victim’s house.
No doubt. Angels were with him that day for sure. My belief is he would have been arrested and he does appear to be exaggerating on the interview but was not at all. Totally honest!

Charlie's lawyer sucks. All that over dramatization from the lawyer made Jeffrey look rational, calm, and honest.
That’s now Donna’s lawyer for her trial. They STILL think they’re above the law. Donna has proven she may have money but she isn’t very smart. She was also warned how it wouldn’t be in her best interest to be represented by the same attorney as Charlie and in true Donna is above the law fashion, she is doing it anyway.

Worth mentioning in case members of the jury don't know: the goal of Rashbaum's strategy of being overly aggressive is to create intimidation in the witness; when a person feels intimidated, they tend to be less honest and forthcoming, and Rashbaum realizes how damning this guy's testimony is for his client. The only card he has left to play is scaring the witness.
Unfortunately the witness is smart and as he says so himself analytical. So his brain is naturally wired to what is being said than how it’s being said. Most folks need time to process a response because we’re careful. But he’s smart cos he formulated his response right away.
I think it was a show for his client... In an unwinnable case...

I think that Rashbaum made a huge mistake treating Jeffrey lacasse as a hostile witness. He was not hostile, he is a citizen on the stand telling the truth. I'm sure the Jury didn't like that.
I hope he made a good impression on the jury. I believe he was very much taken by Wendi and wanted her much more than she wanted him but I don’t think he would have made up a story.

I don't know about that, he was told by friends and a shrink that she was a nut, he experienced her pathological lies and cheating for months, told a detective she was deeply disturbed person, and yet was pursuing her. You want to know why? She was rich, he was not. He only came up with the analysis when he was a suspect.
@@Fedeleness Ahem. I don't think it was money. The murder and her interview woke him up from what he thought was love, but it did take him a little while to disconnect from emotion to rational reasoning and connect the dots. Some still can't connect the dots to believe this family did this.

That defense attorney really thinks he’s doing something here…he was wrong. The attorney’s over the top attitude just made Lacasse’s calm and straightforward answers even more believable imo.

The defense attorney quickly becoming an annoyance when questioning and badgering the witness.
Defense lawyers are unbelievable. This guy is not on trial. He has a solid alibi. Imagine how shocking it would be to slowly realize what happened. Ordinary people don’t even think something like this is possible.
When is Wendy going to be held responsible for her role in this?

You're allowed to lead on cross. Not excusing the defense's awful line of questioning and aggression towards the witness, just clarifying a rule of evidence.
I think everything he's admitted is probably really difficult for a guy to do especially to the world so I think that fact alone makes him seem genuine and honest.

But I guess his own saying applies best: “For the first 100 hours this person seems great but buy hour 101 you start realizing you’re dealing with someone who is a bit unstable.” [sic]
