- The final session of an amazing day casting the reef flats on the outer edge of The Great Barrier Reef over 100km's out to sea. Casting small stickbaits and plastic in the reef lagoons is definitely addictive fishing, watching fishing charge out from under the coral reefs over white sand is a sight to behold. The colours out there on the reef are simply stunning, the fish, the corals and the waters are a see it to believe type deal.

What size gear were you using casting the stick baits up on the flats?
I was using a Smith GTK 74 PG With A Stella 8000 and PE 5 69lb braid mate. A little bit of an overkill for some of the smaller species but perfect for the lure I was casting and some of the bigger species that live on the flats.
