So they are telling the story of the Wizard of Oz with modern music. The original starts in black and white...then goes to color when she lands in Oz. Apparently Todrick loves that movie and asked them to be in this tribute. Loved the reaction
_The Wizard of Oz_ has *always* been in color. The first scenes, set in Kansas, were deliberately filmed in black and white, to make a statement about Dorothy's life there being dreary, but as soon as she arrived in Oz the movie switched to full and glorious color. There was a huge kerfluffle several decades ago, when colorization first became available and someone suggested colorizing the Kansas scenes in _The Wizard of Oz._ Nothing ever came of it, largely because it caused such an uproar. In _The Wizard of Ahhhs_ they used what appears to be a brown filter over the lens during the Kansas scenes, to simulate the black and white opening scenes from the original, but you can still see that Dorothy's dress is blue and one of the work shirts is a red plaid. The filter came off as soon as Dorothy woke up in Oz. Even when Kirstie is lying on the bed, singing "I'm wide awake," the colors are more vivid.
Thanks for reacting to this fun video. Yep, this was Wizard of Ahhhs, not OZ. Modern music (at the time) told the story that was in the original movie. Todrick is very clever and creative. They all did an excellent job, IMHO.
The total genius of this production and astounding level of creativity that went into it absolutely floors me everytime I watch. Great reaction guys, thank you!
3:37 love this part where they turn to look at the camera cause I can't help but look at Kevin. If you watch kevin looks in the wrong place then looks at the camera. I love it so much
The trio (Kirstie, Mitch and Scott) also did another song with them, Black and White. It's fantastic. And, yes, the dog's name is Toto, thanks to Todrick's love of all things Oz. The idea behind this was obviously to choose modern songs that fit with the premise of the movie and mix them in at the appropriate time.
Such fun! And the merging of modern songs into the classic film is just genius! I spotted Motley Crue, Michael Bublé, Carrie Underwood, Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift but there's several more.
Sing, Can't Hold Us, Problem are all fun and happy songs. Plus they have a ton of originals and Christmas songs. We are Pentaholics which means all of them are good and we have no problem watching any Christmas song by them, no matter what time of year. 😁
Love the Wizard of Oz and the Wizard of Ahhhs so much! They did such a phenomenal job. One of my favorite movies ever. It is nice when the reactors know the movie. Otherwise they spend the whole video being confused and not getting the references. Have you reacted to Oh Come all Ye Faithful yet? It’ll blow you away. Also they just released Prayers for this world and Scott released his first song as a solo artist called Mars and it’s heartbreakingly beautiful.
So great travelling down memory lane with you young guys. I thought you had to be an old lady like me to remember the original Judy Garland version, or musical theatre buffs like Scott, Kirstie and Mitch are. Their acting skills are really pretty good in this, along with Todrick, of course. So many wonderful references to the1939 hit, from the opening portraits of the players, to Kirstie clicking her heels at the end. I wasn't familiar with a lot of the modern tunes they used to tell the tale, but their lyrics were definitely befitting the original storyline. A genius arrangement, really. Great reaction, you guys!
Todrick Hall and Scott, Mitch and Kirsty collaborate on "Black and White". I would suggest Todrick Hall "Songs From the 90's" and "Songs From the 2000's". Great reaction!
I really love this collaboration, I believe that Scott, Mitch, and Kirstie went to school with Todrick or they knew him years before. The 3 are also in Black and White by Todrick Hall, really good and a very good message as well ❤. Thanks for sharing your thoughts guys.
@@perfectkismet thank you, I knew that someone would know the correct details, all that I could remember is that they knew him from being much younger ❤️
Since we are so close to Halloween with Christmas hot on it’s heels, I think you guys should react to their cover of Making Christmas. Thanks guys and I enjoy your reactions❣️
Great reaction guys. Pentatonix(Mitch,Scott and Kirsten) and Todrick have another great video, Black and White. Todrick is an absolute genius. Does all choreography and music. The collaboration with PTX is the cherry on top. Mitch and Scott did quite a few Superfruit episodes with Todrick, great fun.😄 I did a marathon through your PTX video reactions and enjoyed them so much. First comment but have been subscribed for some time. Keep them coming, getting ready to start your next artist's reactions also. Thanks for sharing your time and yourselves with us. Peace from Ohio, USA.
Turns out the stunt dog is actually named.... wait for it... Toto. It's Todrick's dog.

Kirstie was awesome in that. I love the humor in it.
Todrick Hall went to the same high school as Scott, Mitch and Kirstie. He was a few years ahead of them.

Todrick Hall graduated from the same High School as Mitch, Scott, and Kirsty, but a couple of years earlier.

This was originally posted on Todrick's TH-cam channel in 2013. The trio were just 21 years old (maybe 20 if it was early enough in the year).
All the words on the songs tell the story
You should definitely do Todrick's song black and white ft. Scott, Kirstie and Mitch!

It's so refreshing watching this when the reactors actually have seen the movie. Love your reactions. Greetings from Portugal

Recommend their live performance of Joyful Joyful from last year’s Evergreen Christmas tour.

They did some kind of choir or theater with him. He went to a different school in the area and graduated some time before them.

Wouldn’t they be great on Broadway? Thanks for reacting!
Check out their newest song they just released "Prayers for This World". Their newest album will be coming out on 10/28
Todrick went to the same school in Texas that Mitch, Scott, and Kirstie, though he was a few years ahead of them.
Wizard of Oz is, and always has been black and white in Kansas and color in Oz. There is no "Black and white" or "color" version.
The Prayer, Prayers for this World, Joyful Joyful, Mary Did You Know. To name a few.
Todrick plays the Wizard
Thank you for this great reaction love this one of ptx theyndid amazing
Kevin as Toto is 🔥

You should check out the behind the scenes video for this one, it's pretty cool!
A PTX Halloween suggestion: PENTATONIX MAKING CHRISTMAS - FROM THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS.
Check out Scott's new solo debut, Mars!
Have you done New Rules x Are you that somebody? It's amazing!
Toddrick went to the same high school, but different years.
Toddrick's dog is named Toto.
