    THANK YOU for having all three on the table in the same shot!! Love that you compare the sizes that way!

    the naming of the products is confusing, as when you search for F38 it still says Zero F38, but might also say quick release and/or add a 3011 at the end... hard to find also... was hoping to pick it up on amazon but only finding f38 quick release video version... disappointed... was ready to buy but also on a time crunch

    I´ve choosen the Zero Y, because the F38 lacks on the possibility to use Arca Swiss and the option to take vertical panorama shots.

    Could you tell me how many millimeters the diameter of the center column is? This is very important to me.

  • @andyvan5692
    @andyvan5692 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Got it, second time; skyler, one other reason why you should remove the column base is to stop vibration in strong winds, this acts just as bad as having the head raised up, but from below, especially so when you mount a lite camera on top!!

    Is the Ulanzi Arca Swiss head compatible with other brand Arca Swiss plates (Really Right Stuff camera plates / brackets) or only their own brand plate?

    That's cool. But I personally would stick with the standard Arca Swiss version.

    Do you know if Peak Design's standard plate can fit in the clamp of the Zero Y?

      @@skylerewingphotography Thanks and please keep me posted, as I urgently need one for the upcoming travel. I’m choosing between the Ulanzi Zero Y and Heipi, both of which claim that they are Arca-Swiss compatible. I’m a Peak Design Capture Clip user, so I don’t want to waste time switching the plates around.

    Thanks for explaining the differences. I ordered the original a couple weeks ago and still waiting for it. I think the original is the better option and you can always convert it if not.

    Does the oy take other Arca Swiss plates or can you only use the one that comes with the tripod ? It looks like the heipi is a better product . I am currently using a mafrotto carbon travel which is great but I changed the out the head to Arca Swiss it works well and can't really see changing unless something special comes out thanks for the video.

      The F38 tripod doesn’t work with other plates or arca Swiss plates unless you change the tripod head

  • @asoshkin

    Why didn't they just make f38 arca swiss compatible. Doesn't make sense.

    They have another one on their website that's better and cheaper. Only $69. The Ulanzi Ombra. For some reason I can't find a single review on it. I placed an order for it so maybe I can be the first to review it haha.

    this is nice . But watching your previous video best tripod, I rushed 2 weeks ago to purchase the Ulanzi Zero Y. I feel so awful that decision now that
    the new model is out. wish I was informed about the new model during the purchase and would have just waited couple of weeks. what do u advise me to do now?

    • @skylerewingphotography
      @skylerewingphotography  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are exactly the same tripod. The only difference is the tool that tightens the legs and the quick release mount. If you don’t like the arca swiss mount you can get the F38 column and that will transform your current tripod into the new one. I like the zero Y and if you have a lot of arca Swiss accessory then it makes sense to stay with what you have

    • @todddammit4628
      @todddammit4628 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Personally, I would stick with the one you have. You can always add an F38 base to your tripod, but with the f38 one, you're stuck with that. If you decide you want to use a different QR down the road, you still can. Also, I have lots of cages that use Arca Swiss, and I don't want to add a QR on them if I don't have to.

    Does the F38 work with arca-Swiss plates?

  • @patrickgilmour1221
    @patrickgilmour1221 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That attachment sucks. Bump it even a little and the plate becomes lose. If it's on a gimbal, next thing you know you have balance issues.

    Very informative! Thank you!! I have the Zero Y. Now, just to be sure, in order to add the quick release capability to the Zero Y, all I need to do is order a quick release plate? I noticed that you can also purchase the same head as the new F38, along with the quick release plate. I have the one tripod, plus an Arca Swiss monopod so, would it be your suggestion/recommendation just to order the quick release plate, and maybe a second for the monopod or, is there any advantage to the F38 head over Zero Y? I'm asking for your recommendation for as to what you would do with the limited equipment that I have. Thanks again for your most informative TH-cam video!!!

    • @skylerewingphotography
      @skylerewingphotography  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would stay with what you have. If you want the quick release system I would get the column with the f38 for your zero y and a quick release system for your monopod . Don’t forget to use my link and code to get 10%off if you decide to upgrade to quick release system

    • @stevenguzy570
      @stevenguzy570 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@skylerewingphotography Thanks so much for your quick reply!!!! You are suggesting to add the F38 head to the monopod? If I don't add that to the monopod, is there an advantage of the F38 ball head over Zero Y's ball head in the field, and then just ordering the quick release plate system for my Zero. Y?

    • @stevenguzy570
      @stevenguzy570 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@skylerewingphotography By the way, where can I find that link you mentioned?

    • @skylerewingphotography
      @skylerewingphotography  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stevenguzy570 no. You can’t attach the F38 to monopod. What I am suggesting is you get the column with the F38 ball head for your zero y and the F38 system plate for your monopod.
      Is there any advantage of F38 quick release over arca Swiss? Not really. Just different and faster.

    Warning: if you have a Peak Design Capture Clip, it will *not* work with the F38 quick release! It does not fit. You have to use the Ulanzi plate, which sucks if you spent the $$$$ to buy the Peak Design clip.

  • @ocarking1471

    Ulanzi is not true arca swiss. These ulanzi plates can go to other heads, but other plates cannot go on this head, even when the little screws are removed. My experiences have told me only go to real arca swiss. They meant professional design and makes life much easier. I have a couple of none arca swiss tripods laying around and plates are missing. I'm willing to pay a few hundred more for true arca swiss.

    Nice overview. But, upon your suggestion I bought this tripod. Unhappy, has 1/4" screw that not well adapted to any camera body. The quick release plate is frozen. And the price is overinflated. So, I would not recommend to anyone else. Sorry for the truthful review.
