Hey Command Zone. This was the first ever Precon I've ever purchased. I'm new to the magic world and I actually switched Ranar to Brago as my commander which helps the spirit token engine as well. And I haven't switched too man cards.

I think the most important card you omitted is Rest in Peace. With Ranar on the battlefield any creature dying will net you a token. Also, with Ashnod's Altar you can go infinite mana by sacing your own tokens which get exiled which triggers Ranar to get more tokens. Rest in Peace is 3 Euro in Europe so it fits the budget quite nicely. Great video as usual.
@@Bstone410 i mean. I swapped vega out because how nany cards are you expecting to play in foretell with vega out. best 3 or 4. I thought that keep watching cost the same and you have a bunch of flyers so you get maybe the same amount of cards but in one go.
While I don't totally disagree. I have Echo of Eons, Sevinne's Reclamation and Mass Diminish in there along with effects like Precognition Field and God-Eternal Kefnet. A lot of the other cards that cast from graveyard in Azorius felt pretty lackluster, or on the same level as their Foretell counter parts. I get the added benefit of not getting blown out by graveyard hate such as WAR Ashiok or Tormod's.
Actually, Doesn't it go really well into Izzet+ decks with Impulsive draw type 'exile X cards you may play them before your next endstep'? draw and mana reduction?
I rock the local game store with this deck. Upgraded of course, stp-Isocronic Scepter-manifold key early wins every time with ranar, brago, soulherder, hero of bretgard. Added teferi's prot. Bonded Fetch, palace jailer and cloudshift.
I find running one Wastes as one of your basic lands is often enough for Eldrazi displacer because you can use cards that fetch basic lands to find it. And if you're in a 3-4 color beck the panoramas can often fill the colorless slot too.
I thought at Ranar as a spirit token generator (with Flicker/Foretell sinergies), so I made a pretty interesting Flicker/Foretell-based Spirit Tribal deck with some strange flying sinergies and it has become one of my all-time favorites! So versatile and quippy!
@@cautiousowl Well, I changed quite a substantial amount of the cards. I made a "Spirit Lord package" to make the tokens substantially bigger, with cards like Supreme Phantom, Empyrean Eagle, Rally the Ranks, Drogskol Captain and Rattlechains alongside some other spirit token generator alongside Ranar, like Custodi Soulbinders, Clarion Spirit and Court of Grace; a "Spirit matter" package, with March of Souls, Shacklegeist and generally good spirits like Bygone Byshop, then a "Flicker enablers" package with cards like Ephemerate, Essence Flux, Soulherder, Brago, Deadeye Navigator and Spectral Shepherd alongside a "Flicker payoff" package like Forbidding Spirit, Topplegeist, Spell Queller, Karmic Guide, Nebelgast Herald and Hanged Executioner. A "Foretell package" is just a plus to activate alongside Ranar, specially Etyhereal Valkyrie, Cosmos Charger, Cosmic Intervention, Depart the Realm. Now, the cards on EDHREC aren't actually 1 on 1 on how I built it myself, but they are looking pretty darn similar.
@@DUES_EX I have watched every video they have lol. I'm talking more specifically about the most recent set decks. I would love to see them played against each other
Thanks for another great deck tech of a newly released pre-con deck. I already have the deck and also most if not all of the extra foretell cards from the new set to put in here. Divine Visitation is absolutely going in my deck too....my buddies will soon all be getting wrecked from spirits/angels/removal/wipes!!!
Been waiting SO LONG for this one, bought it as soon as I could to get pieces for my monowhite deck, but the thing itself deserves to be made into a deck. It's so fun to just go off with it.
I just found out about Angelic Ascension, which is which is an 18-cent uncommon from the last coreset. It exiles a creature or planeswalker for 1W and the controller creates a Serra Angel token. Optimally it is a surgical removal tool for whenever you're about to lose the game and just need to remove something and you don't care what happens after it (ala, a win the game planeswalker went down in a Super Friends deck and is about to ultimate because of doubling season) and ot hits planeswalkers which is rare. Most of the time. It's never dead in your hand though because if your commander is out you can target your own Spirit and it reads 'create a 4/4 Angel for 1W' which is an amazing rate.
Fellas, I think you missed ethereal Valkyrie draws a card whenever it does its thing. You never run out of cards, and it reduces the cost of all the cards it exiles by 2. I think that’s pretty solid, close to sun titan territory.
When it comes to Flicker/Token Generation, if You add Felidar Guardian and combo it with Restoration Angel, you could almost have an infinite spirit token engine by having them blink each other constantly, then go in for the win with an army of spirit tokens.
A card which became pretty expensive but feels like a really good include for the deck would be Rest in Peace Now with RIP you could sac your tokens or block with them and you get a new flier back instantly. Think about Skullclamp for example. And there are many graveyard decks out there, not only do you support your own strategy but you stop many other strategies at the same time with just one card
Mystic Reflection doesn't specify YOUR creatures. How often do you think your opponents will be able to steal you spell by flashing in their own creature after this resolves, but before your creature hits the battlefield?
True story, playing one one one against the Elven Empire deck, I went to magical christmas land by foretelling Storm Herd and spamming out 40 1/1 pegasuses. It was glorious. And so janky. But glorious!
I played a game where my buddy cast it n got 26 . I made him draw 26 cards n take 26 life with black card in elves deck on my turn. He went from happy to sad pretty fast.
Evangel Of Heliod is part of the reason I usually win games with this deck. I blink it and get a bunch of tokens and use them for blockers and have get a +1/+1 everytime I play a creature. So, I make the token massive and then swing everything
Azor’s Gateway is a cool card. Cheap card selection, make a few spirit tokens, maaaaybe flip it and have arguably the best land in the format. not saying the card is better than cradle or even close (at all) but sanctum of the sun itself might be. and it’s all upside in this deck! Ranar was born to hold Godsend. Flying. Vigilance. Exile. It’s kind of pricy to equip, but it’s so cool. Ancestral Vision is good here, and this is the only deck in which I would ever consider playing Mox Tantalite. Misdirection. Droskgol Captain. Both cheap and both excellent here. then if budget isn’t a concern: forces of will and negation, scroll rack, city of shadows, martyr’s cry for the lulz, and t3feri for the opposite of lulz If you can’t tell, I love this deck, and this commander - kind of a sleeper in an unpopular guild and standing next to GOLGARI ELVES of all things but it has won me good number of games so far. Obligatory: Jimmy didn’t read Ethereal Valkyrie, it’s one of the best cards in the deck, etc. Otherwise great video as always and a great place to start. Thanks for all your hard work CommandZone team!
The one that exiles at the end of turn has been clutch in my games. And been used to draw thirty cards and create 50 tokens in the two games I've played with it.
Have you watched Gavin Verhey's vid on improving White? This was one of the pillars of their future approach (asking "should this be in White?" when designing cards for other colours), but it's something we'll only see in print over the next year-18 months.
Some cards I added to the deck right away where Alrund, God of the Cosmos, and Promise of Tomorrow. Alrund cares about your cards in hand and in foretell and promise of tomorrow is a great way to turn dieing creatures into 1/1 flying creatures not always the best but can come in handy.
The version that I took mine and was basically Spirit tribal flicker where soul herder is the secret Commander because he's basically everything the stack wants and needs
When I was showing my build of this, my friend really liked my addition of mirror mockery! This is a cheap rare 1U Enchantment Aura that says: Enchant creature Whenever enchanted creature attacks, you may create a token that's a copy of that creature. Exile that token at end of combat. I also think the way this deck plays well is by drawing as much as possible. Reconnaissance mission, bident of Thessa, ancestral vision, azor's gateway, and Kumena's awakening are all great inclusions in my opinion. So many foretell answers feel like you don't need to worry about max hand size because you always have card advantage in this deck. A above average focus on draw really seems to put this deck at an advantage while you're utilizing exile triggers every turn to generate blockers or pressure very effectively. Another fun way to capitalize on your spirits is by thinking tribal! Not too much, but enough to make yourself scary when your board is just full of intimidating trap card looking face down cards. Drogskoll captain, skyclave apparition, supreme phantom, intangible virtue, ruin ghost and hanged executioner fit very well also. I cut nearly everything thats over 4 CMC if I remember correctly because you win by having one really long turn. The Drake is a must have here for certain. Most expensive card i added is deadeye navigator!
Drogskol captain, angel of invention and Sephara, sky's blade are also awesome additions. Specially angel of invention, pump your flying tokens while having an ETB effect. Loved the content btw :)
Etheareal Valkyrie is an awesome card .. its basically a 4 Mana 4/4 flyer with card draw, because it reduces the mana cost of something else right when you play it.. and.. you reduce your handsize which is important for the card you just talked before.. Tales of Anchestors. Also .. those cards remain foretold even when Valkyrie gets removed. And! .. you can foretell every card .. so it synergizes well with cards from old format. It´s just awesome .. I use this cards in every white/blue deck from now on
Great add-ons friends!!! I’ve used this upgraded deck a couple times and it’s great (I won!). Nice that it’s a bit cheaper than Elvish Empire due to the demand for elves...gives you a few extra bucks for add-ons. Card Kingdom delivered the cards in a couple of days! It’s funny you mentioned other retailers and lost shipments - I happened to order a few cards for the elf deck elsewhere and the Seedborn Muse never made it 😭.
Rest In Peace and a sac outlet is infinite ETBs with Ranar if you find a way to take advantage of that with maybe Altar Of The Brood or even if that sac outlet is Altar Of Dementia.
Would you consider doing a series like ultra 101 on cards... meaning showing exactly how to play some of these cards... i am a total newbie and it is so hard to understand some of these cards and how to use them... i think it would greatly help those just starting out .. i watch many of your videos and not easy to figure it out.. I haven’t seen anyone do this well enough to follow...
Spectral deluge is super powerful in this deck. It has won me games and I have cast it for both its foretell cost and the 6 mana. It is really strong in so many situations. A card that I slammed into this deck was mystic sanctuary as it just gets so many key spells back.
This deck is pretty powerful as is. I really want to add a Yorion. I thought about taking out the 10 cmc pegasus spell, but I was able to foretell it with Ethereal Valkyrie (I think you guys don't appreciate that card for what it is) and it was a game winner. I know that won't always happen, but I'm thinking twice about taking it out. Surtland Elementalist though--OUT!
I think the ethereal valkyrie is actually really good with Ranar as it does help you both draw, reduce costs of spells and make flying tokens. Its an excellent blink target and if you have the instant flicker spells you can attack and flicker at the same time getting double the effect.
So I haven't been into commander for a bit (like a year and 1/2) I was looking into these the other night and in a moment of madness, ordered all the commander decks from 2020-2021 (except commander legends I think?) Gonna host a mini tournament with them all with a couple friends, cant wait!
I actually bought the precon and really leaned into the combo aspect of it, adding more of the combo pieces (alter of dementia, blasting station, Rest In Peace, etc) and lots of card draw/Windfall-like effects in the deck to make it a lot faster. I absolutely love the new cosmic intervention card as well since it adds another piece for the potential combo. I also added a subtle spirit tribal undertone to the deck as there are some pretty cool synergies with all of the spirits Ranar makes. Settle the Wreckage is another great card in the deck as well since normally you can make a lot of spirit tokens which you can target with its ability to land ramp in an azorious deck which is quite nice.
Great Video Guys! I loved to alter this precon, removing all this flying tribe cards, token creators and payoffs, adding hard control, Samurai of the Pale Curtain and Rest in Peace to blow up opponents with blasting station. I'm a little bit dissapointed that they didn't mention Yorion, but anyways these were good suggestions. But i didn't get why Cosmic Charger isn't in the precon from the beginning xD
I don’t know if anyone mentioned these or if they did, but infinite tokens and mana is easy by adding deadeye navigator and peregrine drake. Plus, adding a foretell card in Starnheim unleashed, you give the infinite mana a place to go.
Just an idea, Arcane Artisan can be used as a bargaining chip to allow another player to use something from their hand. You then effectively have that creature hostage since you can flicker your Artisan pretty reliably. Not strong and pretty niche, I know, but since I'm in a casual playgroup I like these little politics interations that enable cool plays.
So Ranar says ''whenever you exile one OR MORE cards'' which means any card or ability that flickers multiple stuff in one go (cosmic intervention) only triggers Ranar once. You don't get a token for everyhting you exiled with cosmic intervention (or brago for example).
Sage of the Beyond, reducing cards cast not from your hand. Foretell Flashback Madness Impulse draw from Red Cast from exile (i.e. New Tibalt) Cast from top of library (i.e. Experimental Frenzy) Cast from graveyard (Abandoned Sarcophagus, Gina and Geralf) Jump-Start Did I miss any?
On Sage the Beyond and Ethereal Valkyrie, I had the same opinion as you guys at first. But then realized Sage the Beyond was a dead card in most games and was only useful as foretell fodder But attacking and mostly flickering Ethereal Valkyrie became really useful.
You know what I find great to watch during the pandemic? This podcast. Yeah we all know it but damn, just wanna say that some quality content that keeps coming back for more, its even more appreciated now days. This is actually good. Thanks for all the hard work.
I’m surprised they didn’t mention Displace “Exile up to two target creatures you control, then return those cards to the battlefield under their owner’s control” It fits perfectly with this deck!
What's funny is my g.f beats my ass with the day of the dragon and storm of the herd combo.. she makes hella spirits then makes a ton of horses then plays day of the dragon..and by the time u see it happ it's to late because you think the deck isn't doing anything
Put felidar guardian in. The deck already has restoration angel. It’s a good value blink card, and with it out and angel in your hand. You can make infinite spirits on the end step before your turn.
As of right now I'm actually running Replicating Ring in my Mondrak, Glory Dominus deck, but I haven't drawn into it yet-- it might end up getting cut later. As unlikely as cracking it with my commander out is, the distant potential of 16 mana rocks at once is too much to pass up.
Not sure if this is mentioned anywhere but orvar is actually silly in the deck. I cracked one and slotted it in. When you target your creatures with blinks you get tokens of them kinda like a panhamonicon
Well felidar guardian and resto angel just make it so you can get tokens on an opponents end step. Prince Charming and flickerwisp are also a way to trigger the blue white god every turn.
I would love to see an episode (maybe Extra turns?) where you play these Precons that were upgraded for 25 bucks.

literally bought this pre-con last night, wonderful timing!
I also just bought it yesterday, I always wanted to play Azorious without being stax or pure control.
I guess everyone woke up yesterday and decided to buy it because I went and bought it too 😂
I just bought it last week!
They should have reprinted Deadeye Navigator in this deck. Surprised it wasn’t mentioned when they were talking about Eldrazi Displacer as well
I would argue though even with the low print value I would personally say these are the strongest of the mini precons we’ve seen so far out of the box
Aesi can do some very, very silly things out of the box.
Hey Command Zone. This was the first ever Precon I've ever purchased. I'm new to the magic world and I actually switched Ranar to Brago as my commander which helps the spirit token engine as well. And I haven't switched too man cards.
Time to learn which cards will get bought out next!
If you add some more foretell cards and some fliers this deck is a force to be reckoned with. Nice thing is foretell cards are mostly cheap
Was really bumed that dream devourer wasn't in this decks colors or that this deck didn't include black to have you be able to foretell all your cards.
I got a scroll rack from a booster pack and thought that card would be crazy in this deck. I’m a little bummed that it won’t make multiple tokens, but I’m grateful you guys explained that before I bought the deck. I still might get this precon, just because it looks fun to play.
Wonderful precon I definitely recommend it. I built it, and I'll say for my first Azorius, it's very fun. Primordial Mists is an amazing interaction.
Used this as the base for a Vega the Watcher deck.
Vega should lean more into casting from the graveyard, top of your library ect. Vega goes good in Ranar but Ranar doesn't go well in vega!
Sage of Beyond reduces cost for the Commander from the command zone or flashback cost aswell , i think this is worth mentioning 😋
What did you add if you don’t mind me asking?
@@Alessandro-vv2fh yo this was so helpful thank u!
I would love to see you guys have a show pitting the "mini" precons against each other!!!
They have. Check there oldest Game Knights videos
20 years ago ultra pro were great ... Now its all in dragon shield mate
They where crap then 2. But we did not know any beter. Know dragon shield is king.
I really like faerie artisan in the deck every new token exiles the old so you make a tone of spirits.
Anointed Procession and Divine Visitation would be great in this deck
cathar's crusade is more better and cheap i think
Cathar's Crusade adds +1/+1 counters...I was talking using Anointed for doubling tokens and divine to make them all 4/4 Angels
I built this deck and it is awesome. Leaned into flicker and added Orvar, who is insane! Added a couple of Mass Polymorph cards as finishers 👍🏻
Fellas, I think you missed ethereal Valkyrie draws a card whenever it does its thing. You never run out of cards, and it reduces the cost of all the cards it exiles by 2. I think that’s pretty solid, close to sun titan territory.
i want to argue that is far better than sun titan since has evasion and kinda ramp you as well
I just don't get what they didn't think it was sun titan but haven't ng both in deck is deece
When it comes to Flicker/Token Generation, if You add Felidar Guardian and combo it with Restoration Angel, you could almost have an infinite spirit token engine by having them blink each other constantly, then go in for the win with an army of spirit tokens.
I really wanted to make Storm Herd work... the sadness I felt removing it was palpable.
It's better that way - I just felt the sadness of having it countered.
A card which became pretty expensive but feels like a really good include for the deck would be Rest in Peace
Now with RIP you could sac your tokens or block with them and you get a new flier back instantly.
Already enjoying this video with the pro level acapella intro! 😂
Both cheap and both excellent here.
then if budget isn’t a concern: forces of will and negation, scroll rack, city of shadows, martyr’s cry for the lulz, and t3feri for the opposite of lulz
If you can’t tell, I love this deck, and this commander - kind of a sleeper in an unpopular guild and standing next to GOLGARI ELVES of all things but it has won me good number of games so far.
Obligatory: Jimmy didn’t read Ethereal Valkyrie, it’s one of the best cards in the deck, etc. Otherwise great video as always and a great place to start. Thanks for all your hard work CommandZone team!
Sage of the beyond also helps cast your commander!
The one that exiles at the end of turn has been clutch in my games. And been used to draw thirty cards and create 50 tokens in the two games I've played with it.
Both of new U Gods are amazing in this deck. Feeling that I'll build this as exile/spirit tribal.
Suspend triggers Ranar's ability. Riftwing Cloudskate is a nice addition. Also Reflector Mage as a flicker target.
Opinion: Tales of the Ancestors should have been white
Agreed.
Why do they keep doing this? The best two cards in Legends could’ve been white. I swear Wizards is doing it on purpose 😂
This is not opinion; this is factual
Have you watched Gavin Verhey's vid on improving White? This was one of the pillars of their future approach (asking "should this be in White?" when designing cards for other colours), but it's something we'll only see in print over the next year-18 months.
Y'all really want them to print Brainstorm in white. That card is as blue as they come.
Watching Josh gradually lose his British accent in every ad is the highlight of my week
When I was showing my build of this, my friend really liked my addition of mirror mockery! This is a cheap rare 1U Enchantment Aura that says:
Enchant creature
Whenever enchanted creature attacks, you may create a token that's a copy of that creature.
These cardvalues is just straigth up ridiculous if you are from Europe.
As in high or low? Lol
@@0ViciousV0 Magic cards are way less expensive in europe just have a look at Cardmarket wich is an equivalent to tgc player, in europe
I use this cards in every white/blue deck from now on
I think the changes I made to my Ranar deck a week ago were almost completely identical to this. A few exceptions, of course, but VERY similar!
I played this out the box tonight and it did well. I won. It was a long game tho. So many board wipes were played but this deck kept bouncing back.
Watching in 2024, just got this precon. It's crazy knowing how Ha$bro took printings to hear you guys talk about the precon values going down.
Rest In Peace and a sac outlet is infinite ETBs with Ranar if you find a way to take advantage of that with maybe Altar Of The Brood or even if that sac outlet is Altar Of Dementia.
Samurai of pale curtain also works in the place of Rest In Peace for this combo
works fine with Blasting Station,.. blow 'em out :D
I found out that cosmic intervention also works for this combo :)
So I haven't been into commander for a bit (like a year and 1/2)
I was looking into these the other night and in a moment of madness, ordered all the commander decks from 2020-2021 (except commander legends I think?)
Gonna host a mini tournament with them all with a couple friends, cant wait!
Do you have decklist
Even though this deck doesn't have much $$ value, I think this is actually one of the more innovative and useful precons in awhile.
Tales of the Ancestors works with emptying your hand with foretell, then refill
"Rolling in his grave" !!??? Andrew Lloyd Weber is still very much alive!
Right!!!!!
Though their rendition might make him wish he were dead. 😆
Had to do a quick google LOL 😨
swiftfoot boots also seems to be a possible new auto include in the precons now
Just an idea, Arcane Artisan can be used as a bargaining chip to allow another player to use something from their hand.
Foretell
Flashback
Madness
Impulse draw from Red
Cast from exile (i.e. New Tibalt)
Cast from top of library (i.e. Experimental Frenzy)
Cast from graveyard (Abandoned Sarcophagus, Gina and Geralf)
Jump-Start
Did I miss any?
Used some of the blink effects on muldriffter. Almost drew my deck 😂😅
Just got this deck ans even 2 years later in holds up! Beat 2 dr who decks with it and had a ton of fun doing it!!!
Did you add these upgrades? Sleeving mine up tonight. Excited to try it out.
@chrisschneider2393 ya I added these upgrades plus a few more and its a super fun deck to play! Enjoy!
What other cards did you add? Im assuming doomskar and epiphany? @@Ginger0616
On Sage the Beyond and Ethereal Valkyrie, I had the same opinion as you guys at first.
But then realized Sage the Beyond was a dead card in most games and was only useful as foretell fodder
But attacking and mostly flickering Ethereal Valkyrie became really useful.
You know what I find great to watch during the pandemic? This podcast. Yeah we all know it but damn, just wanna say that some quality content that keeps coming back for more, its even more appreciated now days. This is actually good. Thanks for all the hard work.
This is where having blocks still would be nice so that Foretell would get more support throughout 2-3 sets instead of just 1.
Rest in Peace is the most busted card for this commander...
Exiling "one or more cards" still only creates 1 token, it's not 1 token for each card exiled.
I’m surprised they didn’t mention Displace
“Exile up to two target creatures you control, then return those cards to the battlefield under their owner’s control”
It fits perfectly with this deck!
I just bought the deck and I’m looking at this Vid for the updates and results, let’s see how well it works
What's funny is my g.f beats my ass with the day of the dragon and storm of the herd combo.. she makes hella spirits then makes a ton of horses then plays day of the dragon..and by the time u see it happ it's to late because you think the deck isn't doing anything
Storm herd is a card I love since a friend cast it and made 35 tokens.
I had a rakdos charm.
Put felidar guardian in. The deck already has restoration angel. It’s a good value blink card, and with it out and angel in your hand. You can make infinite spirits on the end step before your turn.
Timely reinforcements fits the white catch up mechanic narrative.
