This gives me so much hope! ALL of my SOH plants got infested with mealybugs. I’m left with just a few tubers. Most of the tubers have been hollowed out.
It takes a while for these plants to grow tubers this big. I have a very old one, too, I just separated it, to share it with a friend, considering how ridiculously expensive they are now….I just broke the rootball in half and repotted. Both plants are doing well. But I really didn’t have to do this….the plant was doing ok. I’d occasionally throw a few handfuls of fresh soil on top. It sat on a high shelf in wide shallow terracotta pot under a skylight and grew to the floor, I’d just trim it a few times a year when it got too long. A stepladder was required to water, so it didn’t get done that often. Mostly I ignored it….and still it thrived.
Thanks for sharing this! Thought I lost my string of hearts due some neglect but lo and behold when I dug up the pot there were tons of bulbs! Replanted them into 4 pots and keeping my fingers crossed for regrowth :)
Thank you for the video Ashley. I have a string of hearts that I potted from cutting that a friend gave me. They are doing really well. I have them outside in a hanging pot where they get indirect sunlight. They have bloomed so much for me. I love them.
Thanks for this video! I recently baught a ceropegia woodii. It was very long but just not very dense and not very healthy. I just cut it down and was wondering if the bulbs without any leaves could survive!
Hi! I planted one of those tubers with almost no roots and no leaves at all. It was a gift and it's the only chance I have to grow a Ceropegia Woodii. It's been almost a month and I still see no growth through de soil... Is it normal? How long does it take for s tuber to grow the new plant? Thank you 🙏🏻
Love the video and sub to your channel. I purchased my 1st variegated chain of hearts from Etsy which are 2 started plants. Since April they are growing, but my pot is not full, however, I did purchase another variegated chain of hearts from Planterina. It just arrived, and all I can say is I am blown away by how full they are, I am in love. I am planning on waiting for a month so I can combine the two together in a slightly larger pot😁.
Very helpful Ashley I have a string of hearts which is recovering from last winter ( in Australia ) cold and too much water, I’ll take your hints on board when time to repot . Cheers for the New Year and a safe one for sure to you Marg
Cute hairdo ! Love it ! Great video. I’m gonna revive mine with just tubers . The tubers are healthy and have roots on some . One clump of 3 are clinging together with nice roots . Should I separate them ? Thanks 😊
So I was bought a silver glory as a gift and it's so fried also has some kind of bugs so there is no saving the plant I was wondering if I took it all apart if I could use the tubers and start new in a new pot and new dirt?
My string of hearts has enormous root bulbs and is extremely long, but only has a few strings (5 or 6). It’s doing really well, has bulbils on the strings and everything, even after two moves, but I want to care for it best possible at the same time as I would like for it to grow fuller. But the root bulbs are so big, I don’t know if I could fit a propagation in there. Do I need to repot it again? (I just repotted it, because the root bulbs were getting cramped in the tiny pot it was growing in)
This is so satisfying to watch. Glad I found your channel. Looking for an update. Also, every time I get a super healthy string of pearls and start watering it, I end up killing the poor thing. HELP anyone?! Thanks
@@lierrepomero9224 hi, Thanks for specifying that. Most of the videos online shows watering from the top. I did the same and the stems just rotted. Will try the bottom watering, I think only when the leaves start to wrinkle.
gi10 S yeah. I have no idea how they survive that 😂 I killed a large string of pearls because I watered from the top. I have small pieces I saved by propagating in soil. Anyway. Lesson learned. Now I shall spread the message lol. No more casualties
@@lierrepomero9224 I don’t think it’s watering from the top that rots them, I think it’s their shallow root system and people putting them in too large pots where the roots are surrounded by soggy wet soil, whose moisture the plant could never use. So the soil around the roots stays wet, and the roots never get any air. I think you can water from the top or the bottom if your plant is in a small, shallow pot with well draining soil. Water in the AM, water sparingly, and make sure the plant is getting nice light. Also, when buying these plants from stores where people who know nothing about plants are caring for them, by the time you get the plant, it’s already been overwatered for days or weeks and likely is already on a downhill slope to death.
I'm So happy that you made this Video. I am new to String of Hearts plant and I had it out in the yard the whole spring and summer I kind of just forgot about it and it grew so long and very well out there. But now the winter is about to come and I brought it in the house but noticed that there were these little weird potatoe looking things all on the top of the soil and I had no clue what they were thanks for all the Info. Now I cant wait until I start to replant them, I want my plant to be much fuller
@@phileofarm1 I cant believe I missed it, I went back and found it, thank you. Im hoping to do this to my String of hearts, in another month or two. Would love to see how it goes over time.
Would be nice to see what these plants look like now

Did it grow?
@@janeth3008 Not the OP, but I planted a bunch of tubers, no vines attached, and they grew! I now have a 6" pot full plant.
@@ChicagoGardener if tubers have no leaves, it still regrows?

Wow I didn’t know they can grow plump little rhizomes in the hanging branches!
Thanks very much for this video. I didn't know you can plant them as bulbs. I might try mine which is getting tatty on top. Thanks for sharing.
I'm so glad you're back!!! You look so well, so glad to see you again x
Can you do an updated vid of the growth so far :)
Can you stick the little bulb in water for propagation?

Hello. Are you watering over the pearls or bottom watering? You should only be bottom watering because the water on the pearls causes them to rot

How do you water?
Also, how did u get so many
I just bought this plant , mine is variegated but it is changing color from pink to cream / yellowish color. I wonder why?
High light makes them blush from stress, transition it to a brighter spot!
What type of soil are you using?

Will you be my friend?

that plant is dead man, not looking good
