Deadwood Res. and Bear Valley(The valley to the east of the lookout.) USED to be a wonderful, quiet, relaxing place... 10 years ago! Now, thanks to activists in other states getting logging areas closed, which allowed for build-up of dead trees(fuel), and poor decisions from those in charge of getting the fires put out(Pioneer, Wapiti), there's nothing left in that area but charred logs dirt. Not to mention the roads and camps are filled with people on dirt bikes, quads, UTVs, cars, while the camp grounds pack in 2 huge RVs for every one space(it's like a apartment complex!), and the once calm lake with a few fishing boats is now littered with sport boats, skiers, jet skis. Idaho has a lot of great places, but the thing they all share, is that what keeps them great, is that you don't live here. You see a great outdoor playground, but remember, this is a lot of peoples; back yard, quiet place, grocery store, work place, and the place they get fuel to heat their homes. It looks like beautiful untouched forest and wilderness but it's not. It only looks that way because we like to leave it looking that way. It's not by accident. We take great care to fix things, put things back and to never ever leave any trash behind. Our golden rule is, "Leave it better than how you found it." Never before the last 5 to 6 years have I seen more trash left behind than I can haul away in my full size truck. Thanks for destroying my home that I love, and my heritage and that of my children and future generations. Next time let's get together at your house!
Been there. Fantastic camping and get-away. One of my favorite spots. The whole family loves this place.

Love Deadwood Resevoir do some gold mining there and yes I'm a Native Idahoan who can say that anymore
