I do fellow all royal family rules and I do fellow all royal family rules wearing expensive jewellery you don't wear diamonds in the day time because diamonds are to fash
I'm 17 years old but I'm teaching myself self discipline etiquette etc to build myself an elegant person. It's all because of Jamila, I'm really grateful to find your channel coupe of months ago. I really appreciate your effort.
@@aliviajewell9407 Thank you for your advice. I think I'm not going to attend finishing school since I don't have much time. But if opportunity comes why not.
1. No bare legs, tights must be worn 2. Never expose cleavage 3. Knee length dresses/skirts 4. Black only for funerals 5. Hats can be worn in the daytime, not evening 6. Boys should wear shorts until 8 7. Do not take their coat off even when it gets warmer 8. Stiffer, heavy materials 9. Minimal makeup and hair 10. Hold clutches in left hand so right is available for handshakes
I actually knew these, but really enjoyed going over them again! I didn't realize it was a royal rule to always have your clutch in your left hand. I do it naturally, but it's cool it's a rule amongst the royals, and the reason behind it. I know the Queen changes her bag from one side to another to give a sign to her people that she wants out of a conversation or situation. :)
I loved this video, etiquette rules are interesting in that they say so much about the culture and traditions where they originate. I would love more videos on soft skills, parenting, nourishing mind, body, and soul (as you mention on your self care video), self development and finances. Love your work ❤️

Tysm jamila for giving tips on 10 rules of British royal family its very helpful for us and you are my inspiration Jamila love your videos so much and we want more videos like this😍♥️🥰😘😊❤️✨💫💫💕💗
Hello Jamila Informative video as always, almost everything was new for me. Now that we are on the topic of hair and makeup. I hope you could make a video on the proper hairstyle or make up for events. Also, more dining etiquette please. My family were impressed when I taught them how to properly drink an afternoon tea. Thanks a lot for your quality content. More power to your channel!
Thank you for lovely and useful channel. If available, could you teach about posing in daily situation? For example how to hold the phone elegantly when you call/texting in standing/sitting scean. And how to stand when you are waiting for crossing the street, how to pick your wallet up and stand elegantly at the cashier? And so on. Thank you.
Hi Jamila, talking about clutches, I have a few silly questions about them. My biggest question is, if I'm going to a ball (like a proper one in Vienna) and I want to dance, especially with a partner, what do I do with my clutch? Will there be somewhere to leave it? Or do I just check it in to the cloakroom and go back for it every time I want something? And how about in an elegant restaurant or dinner party, especially if there isn't a spare chair to put it on? When everything has opened up again, I really want to treat myself to a ball in Vienna, I've dreamt of attending one ever since I was a little girl, time to make those dreams a reality!
I would like to know more about clutches too. By the way, I watched a video about a ball in Vienna and I saw a Lady holding her clutch with one hand while she was dancing. Sometimes I see women have things like flowers in their hands while they dance so I think it has sense to hold a clutch while you are dancing... I´m just guessing, I don´t really know anything about the subject.
Your content is informative & much appreciated, thank you. I would love a video on tipping etiquette, how to graciously accept & give compliments, cocktail hour/parties. Etiquette on attending sporting events, banquets/buffet style dinners, going to the salon, hotel etiquette, plane/traveling etiquette, etc., taking phone calls at functions/in public, any of the above would be greatly appreciated & helpful 💜
The pictures of Queen Elizabeth used to illustrate wearing black only for funerals were not from when she was attending a funeral or in mourning unless you count attending an annual service of remembrance in Whitehall as being in mourning. There are other daytime occasions when she will have worn black and yet not be in mourning.
Hello Jamila, absolutely love your videos. It's very easy to learn the art of elegance by following your videos. you always look so graceful in your video. Love the calm and eloquent way you explain the contents of your video. I am glad I found your channel. Today's video has some information that is not what we can call rules, most of them are media fabrications. The only thing that is part of the rule book or protocol is having a black outfit whenever traveling abroad and you explained the reasoning behind it very eloquently. The use of a clutch to protect modesty is a clever trick as you described used often by Lady Diana. Keeping your right hand free is part of professional etiquette that all royal ladies follow like us ordinary folks. Rest all are all personal preferences but being widely reported in media as rules so that media can criticise Royal women whenever they are not following these 'media preferences'. Lip colours/nail polishes/eyeliner/dark clothes/black clothes/tights or no tights, its all personal. I hope you won't mind me pointing out the information:) that is widely reported as 'so-called rules' as being part of the Royal blogging world these false media reports usually generate too much negativity in Royal fandom. And our world has way too much of that negativity.
Wow love the new background with all the books (I'm into the Kennedy's too :), such an influential family !) I like the clutch trick for when you don't want to shake hands, I guess they shake so many hands it can get annoying and sometimes bothersome to shake so many strangers' hands.
I also get why the Queen wears gloves so often - after my confirmation (100 years ago approximately) people were lining up outside the church and we confirmands had to walk past them and shake everyone's hand so they could congratulate us. My right hand was *sticky* afterwards, I was so grossed out and couldn't wait to wash my hands!! So yes shaking the hands of many people can actually get a little disgusting...
Yassss!!! I always look forward to your videos!!! And I'm happy I catch them early :) Jamila, can you come to the US for a visit?? I want to meet you ☺️
Hats are wonderful. Take the time to find out what shapes and styles suit your face structure, keep hats in hatboxes because a good hat, a great hat will wear for a life time and sometimes with a few adjustments can be adapted to a style or event. Rule: Always be considerate that your hat will not block anyone's line of sight at a wedding, or other event, you will note that the late Queen Elizabeth's hats were never oversized and Princess Catherine's hats, for example, enhance what she is wearing, do not overwhelm her outfit. Quite often my hat, mostly simple as I grow older, are admired, because hats are wonderful, and a hat (and gloves) put a 'finish' on whatever one is wearing.
Thank you Jamila Musayeva...that was an interesting video. The rule I didn't know was royal boys must wear shorts. I would like to see travel and vacation stay etiquette.
Another big part is, I'm sure, insurance and security. These tiaras are history modeled in precious metals and precious stones. I love hearing about the provenance of royal jewelry. As the former Mary Donaldson (now through her marriage the Crown Princess of Denmark) said, they are a delightful way to learn about history. ;-) Imagine if a party princess got mugged and those irreplaceable pieces got stolen? ;-) But seriously, there used to be a lot more tiara events, and more ladies that wore tiaras...
Wearing a hat for both sexes was the norm until the 1960's in the USA. My grandfather would never feel dressed without his hat! Men were expected to remove their hat once the y came indoors and women should remove their hats if they came to a restaurant or a theatre ( referring to a stage play versus cinema). No one seems to wear nylons anymore but since I feel bare legs are a bit raw, I wear tights with suits. I usually match with outfits so I have beige, white , black, maroon, navy which is my usual palette anyway.
You talked about "no smokey eyes" but I have seen Kate Middleton having smokey eyes in a lot of pictures. It's true that their make up should be minimal but Kate Middleton did smokey eyes a few times.
Can I ask you a video about work etiquette?like how to be friendly and at the same time keep the boundaries or how to communicate appropriately with colleagues and boss
Can you please make a video base on be organized with schools online ? ,by giving tips how to be more productive and not procrastinating ? Thank you so much
Covering the hair hasn’t been a requirement in Europe since the Middle Ages. This rule is followed by the British Royal family partly to keep the English millinery and hat-making tradition alive and to support this industry.
There are super lightweight coats. I took care to look at myself- a coat just looks "more dressed" when out and about. Crown Princess Mary of Denmark wore a white lace coat in summer on a foreign trip once, very lovely. :-) Shorts for boys used to be a thing back in the day. Boys would get their first long pants at confirmation, which is about 15 years of age. A sign that their childhood was officially over. Covering the hair hasn’t been a requirement in Europe since the Middle Ages. Hats or headresses or some kind were expected by society for outdoors for both sexes, but for women, they were mostly symbolic, usually covering just a small part of the head. This rule is followed by the British Royal family partly to keep the English millinery and hat-making tradition alive and to support this industry.
Coat in summer? Shorts in winter? What are these rules?
There are super lightweight coats. I took care to look at myself- a coat just looks "more dressed" when out and about. Crown Princess Mary of Denmark wore a white lace coat in summer on a foreign trip once, very lovely. :-)
Shorts for boys used to be a thing back in the day. Boys would get their first long pants at confirmation, which is about 15 years of age. A sign that their childhood was officially over. In winter, the shorts were thicker and nearer knee-length, and worn with knee-high stockings. I'm sure Princes George and Louis have snow pants/stockings now now suits for romping about outside in winter. ;-)
Coming from an era when stockings were always required, I still hate the feel of bare toes in a closed-toe shoe. I wear those thin, toe socks, which don’t show, if I possible can.
I already knew these rules🙂
good for you!
