December, 2011 will always be a chilling memory for the Jeff and Cheryl Scruggs family. Their daughter, Lauren Scruggs won't remember it all. One minute the family was enjoying a dinner out with friends. A few minutes later Cheryl was staring at the the horrific sight of Lauren lying face down in blood on an airport tarmac.
The injuries Lauren suffered by accidentally walking into a spinning airplane propeller were at first life-threatening, then lifestyle-altering. Losing an eye, a hand, and enduring multiple surgeries, Lauren had to face new realities of life. How would this young woman, pursuing a career in the world of fashion and style, react to these changes in her appearance and abilities?
With the help of her family and faith, she has found a way.

Dear Scruggs Family, Hello Lauren you looked very wise in your video and no disrespect your voice and appearance are very alluring. I wanted to thank you and your family for allowing us to look into your life and judge you as we all do as humans. My short observation is you faith, personal triumph, and overall beauty and love for life is very apparent. I remember the day your accident was on the news and my girlfriend asked me why I was looking you up on Facebook. I told her how shattering it must be to go through such a horrific and terrifying experience and I wanted to offer my hope for your recovery. Although our paths may never cross I admire your strength for sharing your faith and challenges with the world. Best wishes for you, your husband, parents and future. Your testimony is triumphant.

The fact that people can be so mean to a girl that has gone through so much amazes me... What have you gone through that has made you hate God and other people that trust in him? Just know that even though you are going through something or already HAVE gone through something, I love you and more importantly, God does. Have a good day :)
I always get it from every which way but I naturally love and forgive. When I was5 these teenagers in the hood we moved to tried to suffocate me in a sand pit we had at the end of the road. All because I moved there from WV. I still don't see why they hated me so much. They shoved sand in my mouth eyes ears and held them shut. I forgave but I never forgot. Where I grew up i am known as fearless and full of love. But it's a thing that I see as a curse. I can't just leave when being abused. I only see good. I am learning though.
She is now engaged. God Bless her on this new journey!

It is a relief to hear that someone felt the same way, that never will be loved, and life is ruined. I didn't have an accident, I had other reasons. This video made me cry, and I wish you Lauren that by time you get such surgeries that erase all signs of accident,
and I wish you to have a peaceful, happy life.

Here is what I took away from this story. Although from my point of view Lauren is beautiful- and I could barely notice any changes or scars from the accident- wow. I had a hard time even seeing there was a prosthetic it looks so natural. Praise be to God for watching over her during the trial and His peace.
Lie: you have to be perfect to be loved.
Truth: God has already loved us in our most imperfect state and continues to love us through our many flaws. Jesus is our perfection for us. #whatgreatlove

Bad things happen to people because it allows us to show determination and perserverance and to show how strong your faith (or lack thereof) is. If bad things didn't happen, those traits and qualities wouldn't exist and we wouldn't praise people for be courageous and persistant through hard times...think about it

These folks are sincere-this is NOT about making money off 'their story'-who would want to profit from such a wretched circumstance? I think they are sharing openly this very painful situation to maybe encourage others who may be in a hopeless situation-that there is HOPE and they are not alone..but unless you experience this hope- it does seem strange to look at people smiling where others would never smile again.Thats God's Spirit at work- no amount of positive thinking can reproduce such joy

Joseph G: she is not saying God caused her accident to put his plan into effect. Accidents happen and God weeps with us when they do. Lauren looks completely normal for someone who has been through that. Looks like God restored her 100% except now Lauren has this unique experience to help others in a way no one else can.

LAuren you are like one of the only people ive heard of who felt the same ugliness i felt all my life....I had my eye out when i was 3 years old from retina cancer...it was a miracle that it was seen at all...i was dancing on my grandmas dining room table on my third birthday when an aunt just seen my tumor by fluke...Your eye is sooo much nicer than mine and if i saw you on the street...it would be hard to even notice...:P we both hide behind our bangs....and i wear shades EVERYWHERE@

Even an accident like this don’t hold this family back from going public….making a spin off from whatever happened. Most normal people would withdraw from public attention in a situation like this, but these people obviously don’t.

I just see a really beautiful person, any man would be fortunate to have her, I would hope that is what a man would really want, some one so strong, deep and Godly, but idk, today too much focus is on the visual. Physically she is still beautiful to me.

The bible says that one day we will have a new glorified body! This life is but an eyeblink in time compared to eternity. Jesus also said that one day every tear will be wiped away. That day is coming sooner than we think!

She didn't walk into the propeller, she was sucked into it. Since the propeller was still running when she exited the plane, that force easily picked up her 100lb body. If anyone is responsible for the accident, it should be the pilot for not shutting off the engine and propeller properly. My heart goes out to Lauren and I'm happy to hear she got married recently. May God bless her and her hubby Jason Kennedy : )

+Psycho Unicorn A propeller, from a theoretical standpoint, is not greatly different from a gas turbine jet or even a rocket insofar that it is simply "throwing stuff backwards", thus thrusting off the air it throws and being pushed forward by dint of Newton's third law.
The pilot was in error for allowing passengers to exit while the prop was in rotation.
props creates thrust toward the empennage of the aircraft. She was hit while exiting the plane. she simply walked into the prop. It is the pilot's responsibility to maintain the safety of his passengers and he violated that when he even allowed the door to be opened without thoroughly explaining the dangers of propellers. However, i still feel she should be held accountable for her unfortunate accident.

Hello Joseph G. That which you have described is called SIN. We have free will and we chose SIN over good. God made a way for us to overcome and be with Him in eternity, that way is called Jesus Christ. Call on His name and He will show up for you. Please don't wait. God only gave us one life and the decision you make will either put you in Hell or allow you to be with Him in Heaven. Both, real places.

People who don't believe in God are blind. The Bible is a sacred text, not a horrible book. God is loving, He is kind, He is real. I am so sad for you because you don't know Him and flat out reject him. Unconditional love is amazing and it's so sad that you don't know what it feels like. How special does that make YOU GUYS?! We humans often refer to these things as "miracles" but The Lord refers to them as "routine". Again, enough said.)

Now you are up to date In my life I'm SO scared for my cousins. I know talking about it is the first step into promiscuity, and my brother my little cousin Anthony I don't wanna see him fall into Satan's world of drugs money and sex. It just numbs the pain after awhile it turns to cyanide slowly killing you. Lord Help me I won't let that happen EVER!!!!!!! So there's my story that is why Lucifer is so evil he thinks this is funny my little brother killing himself slowly with drugs its funny to him. I can't wait to see Jesus put him in his place and to hear his agony after what he wrought.

If there is an all-knowing all-loving god why was she injured and in need of "a great support system?" I don't see any evidence there is one, and things like this certainly lend evidence that there is NOT. They certainly don't provide any evidence in favor of it.

Wow is this the wrong message to send to people. We are NOT second, we are FIRST. If Jesus and God is what you're toting, you should do your research because Jesus never said " Worship me for I am first , I am perfect! Develop a religion around these concepts and consider yourselves second!!" quite the contrary, he wanted people to worship themselves because what he was trying to tell us is that WE ARE GOD and the only god we should worship is the god within ourselves. The idea that we should worship some perfect being has been the cause of more suffering and pain than any other.
we are not God. God is above all and that's why we worship HIM. He created all things, by him and through him all things hold together. On our own we are powerless, broken, sinful, and weak. We are the OPPOSITE of God. Worshipping ourselves leads to nothing but despair and disappointment. We cannot satisfy the desires of our heart because we were created for something so much greater.
