Reaction to Ahmaud Arbery’s Murderers Getting Life Sentences in Prison

- Travis McMichael and his father Gregory McMichael will now spend the rest of their lives behind bars without the possibility of parole for their roles in Ahmaud Arbery’s murder in Brunswick, Georgia, back in February 2020.
William “Roddie” Bryan, who recorded Arbery’s last moments, was also sentenced to life in prison but with the possibility for parole.
BNC legal contributor and veteran prosecutor Paul Henderson and criminal defense attorney Sue-Ann Robinson join guest host Laverne McGee on “Making the Case” to breakdown the sentences announced in court.

IMO: The Judge's refusal to comment on Defense Lawyers' racism was MASTERFUL & GENIUS! - Because it *denied* racists ANY words or phrases they could exploit as grounds for Appeal...
It also denied Fox News & Reicht-wing Propagandists "the oxygen of publicity". Or any opportunity/ excuses for them to play their *victimhood card* EG: So they couldn't use the Judge's comments to elevate these 3 hate-filled murderers into Kyle Rittenhouse-style characters.
Judge Walmersley gave everyone, including hard-core racists, specific examples of *EVIDENCE & the lack of remorse,* which influenced his sentencing decisions. He even used the Defendants' own words!

It's a tragedy that ALL judges are *not* as professional, precise, *laser-focused on evidence* and as impartial as Judge Timothy Walmsley. Ditto the Prosecutor.
There are so many ironies in this story. Ahmaud born on mothers day 94. White father and son 'protecting' the community when they were only Renters. Roddie videotaping his own crime and thinking it would exonerate them. Greg, a retired police officer knew the law but broke it anyway. Travis a former coast guard member saved people's lives (white?) Its is like a Greek tragedy but it is reality in the South.

I wonder how many times before this, that they called the prosecutor for help to make their crimes disappear? The judge commented on the lack of normal human empathy from those two. They have some sort of mental disorder, which is obvious to anyone with normal human emotions and reasoning. That is obvious from their personal life, from the videos around the crime scene, all the way up through the trial and sentencing. They are dangerous criminals. The public is safer with them behind bars.

As a Brit please may I commend the behaviour of the crowd outside. The judge is getting a lot of deserved plaudits, he was excellent but I hope not exceptional. His mother, wow, talk about dignity. "Some are born great, some achieve greatness, others have greatness thrust upon 'em" William Shakespeare. This isn’t the last we will see of this lady. The best part of her statement for me was when she mentioned his feet, she handed that knife back and gave it such a delicate little twist. No one should be punished for poor self care through the state of their mental health.

Yeah. The only reason he got parole according to the judge was because he was the only one that showed a little remorse when talking the officers. He said something like ‘ we shouldn’t have done that ‘ but he’ll be 80 years old when he’ll be eligible for parole. So yeah it’s still a life sentence.

The parallels to what happened to Ahmaud & Emitt Till is scary . The only difference is that Ahmaud's parents got justice and Mamie Mobley got none and went to her grave with that . No one paying for taking the life of a 14 year old Black child because of just being that in the South .

If you remember one of Ahmaud's murderers , the one that was a former cop had a friend that was a prosecutor who helped the keep the murder covered up for 2 months before it finally became known to the public . In Emmitt's case the jury was all white in the South and everyone knew who killed him and they still didn't charge them . The same thing with Trayvon Martin . It's a pattern that keeps happening but in Ahmaud's case the verdict was just .

I have a lot of respect for the judge. BUT I do not agree with his assessment of Roddy's level of "remorse". He immediately began lying to the police while being questioned. He referred disparagingly to Mr. Aubury as a "joker" and even claimed Travis was "defending" himself against Mr. Aubury! How was that even possible when it was those 3 who voluntarily decided to chase him down with guns and trucks. He then went on a whole media tour trying to elicit sympathy from the public as soon as he realized the gravity of the situation he found himself in. Pathetic!

It's a wonderful thing when the justice system works as it should and did in this case. However the celebration is hindered by the fact that it so rarely works when victims and defendants are people of color. All happen is, travis and his father got away with violating people rights for years. What they reported was believed without any proof. How you gonna go chase a man, and shoot him because he did not stop for you. That extra 20 years was for kidnapping auhmad. They were so proud when the DA said travis and his father did nothing wrong. The guy had nothing in his hands. It reminded me of the case with that civil rights leader that was killed in his driveway. The wife said in court, the judge would hug the defendants, and people would bring food for the defendants. Its is only 20 years later she got justice for her husband. I cried how she yelled out his name, when she finally got justice. Moral of the story, if you see a black man with nothing in his hands running away, stay where you are and leave people alone.

The judge addressed the elimination of blacks from the jury immediately after selection. He called them out and said because the reasons given was not because of race there was nothing he could do.
