Just FYI... the instructions show a specific way to hold the ink cartridge when taking the orange cover off. I assumed it was so ink would not leak out. I did it the way the instructions showed and had no leaking at all.
How do you get the printer to feed paper through the rear tray? The TS9020 cassette paper feed only has a plain paper setting, I want to print with matte paper using the rear tray paper feed, but it will only try to print from the front cassette paper feed.
I have not used 3rd party inks in this printer. I print mostly photos and the fade resistance is better with Canon inks (or so they say). Also colors might not match the Canon colors vary well and you will get off color prints. I know that some people fill their own cartridges with high quality inks. One of the places I hear a lot about is Precision Color. Here is the link to the ones that fit the TS9020 www.precisioncolors.com/C5Eb.html. Kind of a lot of money up front but you get 10x the amount of ink you would with Canon. Otherwise I would just stick with Canon.
Is it normal to kind of force the CD tray into the printer to start the printing to CD process? I find it a bit strange to load the CD tray pretty hard into position.
Yes I used the 8.5x11 letter sized paper. The paper try has a purple button that you need to push to adjust the paper try to fit 8.5x11 paper size, watch at 4:48 for adjusting the paper size. Was kind of hard to figure out if you don't know what you are looking for.
Normal document printing it doesn't seem to use a lot of the ink (black/white). The black pigment is still around 75% and I have sent a good amount of document through, I don't have an exact number for you. I think the normal tank is around 300 pages and XL is 500 pages according to Canon. The black picture ink (small one) is about 50% from me. A lot of the pictures I print have been vary dark so the black ink gets used the most when I print pictures. I have printed about 10 - 8.5x11 pictures and about 10 - 4x6. So that ink seems to be going a little faster then I was hoping. Also keep in mind that I am still using the ink that came with the printer and will be replacing them with the XL cartridge as they become empty.
it uses like one or 2 whole sets of ink carts every single time you use it because it is constantly clogged and you have to run 10 deep cleaning cycles to get it working again , it works great out of the box and that is about it let it set a couple weeks and you are fucked because you will waste all your ink trying to get it to unclog cannon sent me a complimentary set of ink for my trouble i never even got to print a single fucking page with it because i ended up burning all of it on cleaning and it still doesn't print the pattern right , it's a piece of shit stay away from it, and stay away from ink jets period, the only good thing about cannon is the white English speaking US based support , but this printer is a POS like all ink jets i maybe printed with it like 2 or 3 times total without having to call support literally every other time i try to use it it turns into a 4 hour ordeal resting print heads and running multiple cleaning and deep cleaning cycles and printing failed test patterns , literally 90% of ink and about 50 % of paper bought is wasted on maintenance , i could have just ordered prints form Walgreens and saved literally hundreds of dollars and got a B & W laser printer for other stuff
Sorry for the late replay. I have only tested it on one printable CD after I made the video (only one I had at the time). The quality is great but its kind of a pain but I have never used another printer with a CD/DVD print function so I don't know how it compares. it appears that it works the same way as on other Canon printers. The CD/DVD tray is stored on the printer output tray. You put your CD/DVD on that and insert it in to the printer.
I have bought CANON PIXMA TS9160 and spend hours and hours to install it and couldn't get far as to printing It keeps jamming paper in the cassette. Then I got to print from the paper on the back tray and process went trough printing but no ink on it. and thats as far as I could get with it! I personally think today the knowledge is worst the years ago it Canon Printer MG 3660I had fro many years that gived it upon printing, the scanner was working. Easy to install! Not this one?
Some things you can check on the printer. 1.) Make sure the cassette is set to 8.5x11 otherwise it won't seat right in the printer (push the purple button to extend the tray). Also fan the paper so it doesn't pull more then one sheet at a time. 2.) Make sure the orange pull tab on top the ink is taken off (little piece of plastic that had a 1 on it). That is the air port for the ink and it will not work if they are still on the cartridge.
@@jeffscrappyreviews1519 I have spent 2 days and never advanced beyond printing and it was only Yellow I checked three times ink cartridges and they all are open, clean just like Y SoI took it back to the shop for them to see if they can set it up? My Suggestion is that CANON set it up all printer ready to be used, so that purchaser can plug it cables into the printer, switch it ON and GO!
They work great when you first get the printer but after 1 year and the warranty runs out, Canon wants to sell you another printer.......they don't even try to fix your printer. Your S.O.L.!!!
Just bought it from Adoroma office on 18th st, and now it's making me satisfied by watching these videos about it
Thank you so much! was having such a hard time loading the paper in the tray and you helped me out so much!
This is the first review I’ve seen where the person ACTUALY PRINTED A PICTURE lol. Very nice

In the "print menu" you need to select the orientation, paper source, and size. If you don't change the source it will print from the cassette.
Hey Jeff (& any other owners), Have you had any successes with non-Canon branded ink cartridges? If so, which brands on Amazon works well for you?

Sorry for the late reply. I don't have to force the CD tray into the printer but I have only printed a few CD with it.
Can this printer be used as a network printer? can i connect it to my network/server
Yes you can over wireless
How big of paper is that I couldn't get my printer paper to fit in there. Mine is 8.5 x 11

How well does it print to cd/dvd?

What's that dreadful noise in the background?
Most likely my voice but I think you are talking about the crappy royalty free music.....
