I'll never understand how people can down play either Rex or Vinnie individually or together. They are undeniable. I guess I'll just have to chalk it up to ignorance.
No one I know plays them down but puts them in the highest echelon. Too often technicality is mistaken for musicality. Pantera’s groove and tightness is where it’s really at🤘🏼🤘🏼
@@molochz Vinnie Paul put Rex's playing down. Said Rex was the luckiest guy in the world to end up in Pantera, implying anyone could have been their bassist.

Make no mistake about it, Pantera was NOT a heavy metal band. Pantera was an *ENTITY* of some type. Their music permeates and with extreme efficiency through dimensions and never fails you. Their music NEVER gets old and when you are hurting, their music will in some way helps you to transcend from where you are to where you need to be. For those of you who love Pantera, you know this description is only the start of how paranormal-like their music effs with this space time continuum and makes your miseries go away. Thank you so much for sharing this isolated bass track of a musician who helped music become something that it never was before.
What is so amazing about this? Don't get me wrong I love Pantera and I respect Rex but as far as bass lines go this is very basic. If you think this is impressive than you will shit your pants when I show you bassist like Victor Wooten, Billy Sheehan, and Jaco Pastorius, Les Claypool... No disrespect to Rex, the guy never claimed to be the best, he was a great part of pantera and always played his part well. I'm just confused at what makes this so amazing and legendary.
