    Nice review, thanks for sharing. I'm a homeowner with a 7700 gallon swimex and 500 gallon hottub. Using a digital chemistry reader similar to yours and keeping a Google sheet has been very helpful in teaching me how to balance our water chemistry. Have you found that the sutro provides an accurate recommendation on how much of a certain product to add to being the numbers into the target range? I've read that either sutro or waterguru can be told what products are being used (dichlor, sodium bicarb, etc) and then when it sees changes are needed, it would recommend amounts. Have you found that to be the case with sutro, or do you still need to calculate your own chemical adds? Thanks in advance!

      The Sutro is good at calculating dosage. And you can scan in the product you are using and it will calculate for you. It's just that if you are wanting to do the LSI you will need the Calcium Hardness reading from another source.

    I would love this stuff but man, it’s soooo expensive, $500 upfront and $30 a month? I wonder if you can manually just refill the cartridges? I think maybe some tech or computer whiz could probably hack the cartridge and refill? Do you possibly know what the reagents are? I’m guessing some neutralizer and chlorine tester etc, but can you use this without a subscription if for example the cartridge is full?

    My Sutro kept giving me wrong reading which led me to crewup my own water parameter (tried to follow Sutro’s suggestions). I liked the product for the pool but NOT hot tub because the micro bubble seem to mess Sutro unit up very often

    Be curious to know about failure rates and if any issues with these units, I found that I had solid performance for 2 months then suddenly nothing but issues, failed to test for Bromine, failed to test Alkalinity, readings all over the place and when speaking with tech support the go to answer seems to be "air bubbles" in the system .. again wondering your results with the product overall

      Would say it probably has the usual fail rate of an electronic devices. There will be some lemons out there.

      I had all the same issues plus more. After 4 months just got tired of dealing with sutro and the in-accurate readings. It's unreliable. There is nowhere online to write them a review.

      @@michaelallen3149 I have had a similar experience, just started my 6th cartridge and again this one is way off on alkalinity... after 6 months of bad readings I am giving up on Sutro... and it is a bit strange that there are no real reviews and no place to leave one... but companies like this cant fool people forever.

    This tech is a great idea but we must have received a dud unit. It did not measure alkalinity accurately out of the box. Returning it because I expect it to work out of the box … especially for something that costs $500

      That is too bad. Maybe they can switch one out for you.

    So I bought 2 Sutro devices and it looks like their app can only do one device. I'm guessing the pro app can monitor more than one? Gotta figure out how to use this pro app... doesn't look like a way to create an account.

    • @SPL

      You will have to contact them to get the Pro App set up on their end. Then you can scan the two hubs. The app works very well.

    "Rest assured" the Sutro monitor is NOT reliable. After owning this for 5 months and only having 2 cartridges that gave correct readings I can say with confidence that the Sutro provides more frustration and consumes more time with techs on emails than you image. In those 5 months my pool was always in great condition, but that's because I used my test kit to make pool chemistry adjustments, if I made Alkalinity adjustments based on the Sutro's readings (it's readings were always off the chart high) I would have created a disaster in the pool.

    Can it be used with a pool that has an autocover?

    • @SPL
      @SPL  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. It sits low enough for the cover to close and doesn't require light

      I rarely delete comments. As long as they are not profanity laced that is. You are safe. 👌

      @@SPL Thank you. I posted a comment on Sutro on one of your posts and someone else’s and they are no longer there. I just think there is too much to monitor for options like this to work. If you don’t have the full picture you can get into trouble - e.g. a free chlorine of 2 is not helpful if your cya is 60. I’ve watched a ton of your videos and you’ve helped me a lot. I have a color q 2x pro, a salt tester and phosphate strips. That gives me everything I need and when I go to the pool store the spintouch confirms it and I never have to make adjustments.
