It still is partially impactful it even says it on the range tooltip. but animation speed does speed up with attackspeed too, very noticeable in this video that the animation speeds up.

Yo reto, i just wanna tell you that i played this brotato again because of you and had insane ghost run with 104% dodge AND YOUR RETROMATION'S HOODIE in the very last shop. Sooooo, that's what 328% attack speed feels like, the boss was melted like butter on a flaming knife. Have a nice day! Your item won me a run (which i may or may not have won by myself)
I'd rather you didn't unlock it off screen as I do love watching the steady progress. I'm sure there is another character that could work with harvesting I'm just not sure what one would be best though.
I did my Loud run last night (and having nowhere else to share) I will say that the aliens should not have equipped my potato with nuclear weapons. Half Screen explosions for 400 w/ +100% enemies snowballed out of control.
A similar build that might be worth trying is, one armed and ghost axe. Since you'll only have one phantom weapon your kills won't be split between multiple weapons.
Totally enjoy you insight into this game. I don't play modded games, but I appreciate your insight into the game because of your knowledge in learning the code to mod it.
FYI I've noticed while playing this that if you stand on top of (or really close to) the red X where a mob is going to spawn, it will stop it from spawning. Something to keep in mind if you want to maximize the amount of mobs you kill. Especially relevant to melee builds when killing the host mobs, lots of times I'd kill the host and end up stopping the child mobs from spawning because I was standing in the same spot.
from what I've seen, it doesn't completely stop the mob from spawning, it just prevents the mob from spawning in that location. You can see this because if you kill a host and stand on all the X's, the children will suddenly be mixed in with the rest of the mobs.
Yes, just because something is "optimal" on paper doesn't mean optimal in real life. An individuals skill plays a roll in it also. And you totally rock. Could you play at a lower skill level of one of the maxed out ones? Maybe try an opposite build, or a multi weapon build. You are the only one I watch in this genre (except for the small Baer cross over, lol), so if what I am thinking is not that great, it's OK. Been enjoying your games, reminds me of try new games on the Sega CD. Wasn't great at the time, but you saw the potential. Thanks again.
The explorer must be a great way to showcase the new "Survive by trees" tactic! I know you've tried it before but it might be better with this indirect buff. Maybe even the tag items could help?
In the argument of stacking ethereal weapons, I don't think having multiple low tier weapons has as much an effect as you suggest. While higher tier weapons get stats with fewer kills, more weapons will more than likely hold up due to the greater amount of total kills from attacking with the extra weapons.
Really enjoy the rougelike game runs. Hou ever thought of playing Neon Abyss. Lots of fun power up pickups and crazy weapons. Could make for some good videos!
Thinking about it, if you had upgraded your weapons ASAP you would have gotten your stats buffed in fewer kills for the loss of some DPS. As long as you can keep up with the mobs its worth upgrading early on and running with fewer weapons to have your stats grow quickly.

As for the range thing: I'm not sure if I remember how range and attack speed worked exactly in the demo, but I'm sure you can probably figure it out with the right guidance. Did the speed at which melee weapons extend and retract get affected by attack speed at all in the demo? I remember that being a talking point, but I could be making that up in my mind. If that's the case, it definitely looks like that might be the thing that was changed. The speed at which your weapons were extending and retracting did seem to be significantly faster. My guess is that range still does affect attack speed to some degree, but maybe it's no as pronounced as it was before?
In the description for range it mentions it affects melee attack speed now, and I think the increased retract speed is part of it. And no the retract speed was fixed in the demo, which is what inspired Reto to build the claws.

When I played this character, I (for some reason) was determined to offset the negative harvesting penalty using the 5% increase to harvesting at the end of rounds. I stacked to about 50ish harvesting, and then was no longer losing any. Was it good? I dunno, but I felt accomplished for offsetting the negative LOL
Watching this, I'm seeing you get a lot of +hp from kills, but I can't see what ability is causing that? It's not the knives, it's not the ethereal combo... how was it happening?

Reto, if you hover over the range stat it verifies your science. It's just half as effective on range but it does help cool down.

i have done he sme thing just now! i had around 600 attack speed at the end and all the flints basically attacked at 0.2 secs or even less

You can see the effect range changes have on your melee weapons by looking at their cooldown now, and it isn't usually very much

Sorry I didn't quite get this. What caused the continuing permanent attack speed power ups?
Ghost flint give 1% permanent attack speed up for every 20 enemies it kills at a base level, and it scales up to every 14(?) at legendary level

Attack speed seems to affect return speed now, at least on my test run with spears. I don’t think it’s at full value tho
Personally I don’t mind if it’s easier for you to unlock characters offscreen. Either way, I’ll be watching.
