It's funny. When I first started youtube a few years ago, I threw money at it, Great cameras, Lenses, and sound gear. Three or four years later I still have all my very professional gear but for my youtube videos, I now use the DJI mobile 3 with an iPhone XS for filming all my videos, and my talking head videos. I use my pro gear for pro work but for youtube, the iPhone is just perfect. I also record my audio separate and sync in Imovie. I have gone full circle from the madness of buying all pro gear back to using my iPhone. I use Filmic pro as the recording app.

Also at 5:40, you don't necessarily need a light to brighten things up a little... You could use a piece of white foam board or card to bounce back some of the light towards the subject.

Great step by step guide. I've been trying to use a couple of different smartphones (an old Samsung and a new Samsung) and it's surprisingly good, although Filmic Pro looks like it takes things to the next level. If I can figure out the camera setup on my Android phone I'd be more than happy with the quality of the video even without spending £££ on super fancy cameras.

It's worth noting that British TV is broadcast in 25fps, which is why Brits are used to it and often shoot in that format. Many other places in the world, including the United States use 24fps (with Shutter Speed set to 1/48). Blu-ray and many film projectors also only support 24fps. So if you're targeting U.S. eyeballs, or need maximum compatibility, then go with 24fps. For TH-cam it doesn't really matter, except what the viewer is used to from growing up with the standard in their country.
