Yea I got the axiom 49 its dope. Just cant figure out the transport buttons and the buttons under the sliders. Only one time the transport buttons worked without me doing anything, but next time I opened FL they didnt work. Only had this board for a couple weeks
thx alot thats, good review! 2questions, (what programm are you using?) and do you think that the Akai MPK25 is better or the same? (i want to choose between those to but im kinda lost because they seem so similiar)
Im thinking of getting this unit on ebay, i like playing classic roots reggae music, so maybe i need the 45? That beat you made was awesome btw! Thats The path i also want to make is sweet underground hip-hop beats, and dirty dutch. SO the longer one would be better to use?
hello!! hey I need help with the software I need a program to use my axiom 25!!!! I´ve been searching for one and I can´t find any software!! please help me
hey bro, good vid, i got the 2nd gen axiom 25 keyboard, n im havin trouble figuring out how to run it with reason 4? and protools 8 le.. Im sittin here on youtube watching all these vidz, n i still cant get it.. maybe you or sumone here can help.. NV!
@ronniemass well it get activated in some sounds in Logic Pro. Its automatically getting assigned to some modulation effects, otherwise it just distorts the sound. Dont know how to explain, I use it only sometimes, when lets say ES2 picks it up as a subeffect controller. I guess you have to dig deeper. The Axiom itself does not have any effects or sounds so dont expect this baby to be used as such.
@Alessandro7322 YOu do not connect interface with MIDI cables. Interface works only if you connect it with the USB cable. If you have MIDI keyboard and you want to connect the keyboard to PC/Mac - you need USB cable. As far as I know you cannot have two items (keyboard and interface) connected to one USB cable at the same time. So MIDI is only to send MIDI sound to effectors or other devices that use midi inputs. to connect both you need to use 2 USB cables
Yo dude...I was gifted over 8 years ago and never used it. I have now just hooked it up in my studio...I found the USB and the 12v power cord on Amazon today..Hope this helps.
If you use one hand then yes, if you need two hands to record melody and bass at the same time I suggest larger ones. I will sell mine locally since the shipping is expensive here in Ireland.
@batareikastudio oh my god this is so weird. I know you from church in mayo! You probably don't remember me but I'm phillip and I played guitar in the church band ages ago. I am going to buy this keyboard so I was looking for reviews and you popped up. Small world! :)
Hi and thanks for the tutorials :) But I still cannot connect my synth (microkorg) to the tascam and to the computer. I connected the tascam with the computer, but there is no signal (I downloaded the driver from the tascam page). And what cables do I need to connect it with everything? i still haven`t got a clue, maybe you can help ;-)) thanks
it sometimes creates additional sounds when you use Logic Pro instruments. as an example if you play the guitar (Logic Midi Instrument) and use modulation wheel it changes the way the guitar sounds by adding let's say rhythmic sound to it. Very cool with banjos, when going up on the wheel the banjos sounds like was picked every millisecond.
@dekkero You have to do it in your software. in my case- it is in Logic. I create new midi track and give it Sampler effect. Then I take sounds and split them and do it all manually. in your software it can done somehow else. Google your soft with the word Sampler. I never use it for sampling, I have roland sp 555 for sampling. less hustle
I went on Amazon today and found the USB and the power cord for the M Audio Axiom 25. i given one bout 8 years ago. Used it for the first today. Hope this helps u out
@midnightcobra1111 Hi, you would do that on a plug in called "Sampler". It is in Logic but can be in any other pro software I suppose. You can assign any audio files to any key on your M-Audio. Google for it or see more on TH-cam, it is a separate topic. It is a lot of fun though.
@Nevadaboymedia strange, it should work out of box.Find the way to play midi instrument on your Reason with your PC keyboard. Then you can connect any USB key machine such as AXIOM and it should be picked up automatically. The most hard think for new users is to get the sound play in software itself.May be start with that. as soon as you load properly lets say piano & click it and it would give u a sound- you are more than half way through.Midi keyboard is only a tool that extends ur pc keyboard
Andrej Špilevoj Can the axiom affect what you do with the roland? Like if you have the Roland set to sound like a flute, can you bend the notes with the mod wheels?
@EVILMALC There is no software for Axiom 25. Its the same as to say what is the software for the "mouse". Axiom is a tool for any software, same as any midi keyboard. Try using Garage Band, Logic, any music developer software, it will all do.
Why not? The MIDI keyboard is like USB mouse, it works everywhere. You just need a software that has midi sounds. Google for Frooty Loops and see how to set it up with any USB keyboard. There is no difference which brand of MIDI keyboard you use.
@916eyezlow Hi, u can do it by using Manual, it is a bit tricky & somehow never worked properly 4 me. Its set by default (which is actually very smart when it comes to drums.I tried to change it to match my needs & it would change but after restart would go back to defaults so I gave up. I usually use Sampler to assign wanted sounds to pads. Sampler is a plugin of almost every decent music soft (in my case- Logic Pro). But that is not alway convinient. So try the manual, it may work better 4 u.
@SimpleFire100 well, if you check my band's account on youtube (abatareika) you will see there are many songs (by my project Emigrants) which were recorded with this keyboard. I am still kicking myself for not getting 88 keys from M Audio but I survived till now so far. It is not that comfortable for recording but takes almost no space iin my studio and does a good job. It is perfect for rap or electro, not so much for pop/jazz/etc where you would play both hands at the same time.
@Tatoshoes Try manual, I think you entered the program mode which is crap. I have no idea why they build so many nonsence into such a simple device. Try manual, it should help. I ussually get rid of it by pressing everything randomly- I am from Russia :) Russians dont read manuals!
Here are some realities........Axiom has no built in sounds, its NOT a sampler either and finally can produce any kind of music as long there is music software onto your computer.
well, watch my videos on abatareika chanel on TH-cam, all songs are created on this keyboard. It is not a good keyboard if you play both hands as this will be a pain for you. I regret I did not buy a bigger one since I record different people and sometimes I need more than just 2 octavs (25 keys).
Trigger pads - ar simple keys, just made from rubber. The represent black&white keys in different locations of the octaves. 1. You have to find SAMPLER in your program (mine is Logic and I use Sample Instrument), 2. In Sampler you have to find your trigger pads location and assign sounds to it (refer to your program Sampler plugin, each software has its own ways). The Midi keyboard itself is not a memory holder so it has no sampling feature alone.
@icecoldnfantastique You apply samples not on Axiom but in the software, in Logic there is such instrument called Sampler. use it and youtube for more info about it, very simple and much fun to play with.
@hergy509 No it comes with Garage Band- simplified version of Logic, so you play with it and when you feel like you need more serious tools you buy Logic. It has similar interface and strategy, but has more instruments, VST plugins etc. So it is like father of Garage Band (which is free).
You know I had same issue with any larger keyboards. I even used external power but still there was a delay in every note. If you solve your problem, reply to this video, I did here a review of 25 but I am stuck with it because any larger keyboard I borrow gets delays in MIDI, once had to even use large keyboard's internal sounds in order to play a track. Lots of pain, let us know when you figure this out. Your search keyword: "LATENCY"
it is fine for House too, I have used it since for many styles, as well as hardstyle, electro house, jazz- hiphop, It is always better to have more keys but if you are on small budget - this one is cool. The knobs are still useless for me :)
U need a plugin (VST or AU) called SAMPLER. I am not sure if such exists for FL. Be aware that pads represent particular notes in keyboard. basically they are notes in keyboard. My advise - focus on FL, if you sort it out and find the SAMPLER for it, you will sort your issue.
You do it in your program. I use Logic, it has instrument called Sampler. Google the sampler for your software. The Midi Keyboard is only a tool, it does not have memory and sampling ability as such.
@hergy509 Boy, of course you can, check out my profile, all songs of the band Emigrants were created on Logic Pro. It is very similar in values to the Pro Tools. Some prefer Logic, some Pro Tools. I like Logic as it has a huge library, it is cheap and easy to use. Pro Tools sound cooler but they are plain, you need plugins instruments etc. Pain, plus you have to have a suitable external sound card, where Logic works straight after the installation even on MacBooks.
YOu can make any music you want, we also recorded kids music and pop songs as well as club music and hip-hop. Go through my profile and you will find all songs recorded with it. However it is a real pain to play pop music on it. We had to aks our piano player to play bass part first and then play melody. Annoying. I will be glad to sell mine and get proper size since I am not limitted to any style and I like experimenting. My room is also became bigger since I moved to new studio 2 years later
@hergy509 Well, no offense, but u will look funny if you record someone on Samsung laptop :) No, u can use any machine you want, but yes,Logic works only on Apple. Apple is the best 4 music and design so if u are serious about it, start saving money for MacBook Pro or iMac, those r good enough to start serious producing. MacPro is even better, but I personally can not afford it- too expensive.Logic runs well on MacBook laptops though. I have seen many club producers working on MacBooks and Logic
+Oscar Pintado you need USB connection to your PC/MAC and software like Logic Pro, GarageBand or any other for PC that supports MIDI. Most of them actually do.
Yea I got the axiom 49 its dope. Just cant figure out the transport buttons and the buttons under the sliders. Only one time the transport buttons worked without me doing anything, but next time I opened FL they didnt work. Only had this board for a couple weeks
@BatareikaStudio hey man when you were playing the samples on the pad it seemed as if they were triggered for as long as you held the pad down?
I just bought an axiom and wanna know how to assign sampled songs to trigger pads when making a beat plz help how do you do it manually
thx alot thats, good review! 2questions, (what programm are you using?) and do you think that the Akai MPK25 is better or the same?
(i want to choose between those to but im kinda lost because they seem so similiar)

Hi, nice tutorial! But i'd like to know a specific driver (for mac) needs to be installed if I want to assign pads and buttons and else?

@abatareika but is logic only for mac ?

that's latency
Can I plug an old yamaha keyboard into the axiom 25 and then the axiom 25 into the computer?
+mechanoid2k Yes, you can. It has Midi In as well. I used my Roland SP-555 to do the same trick. But google it anyway.
Andrej Špilevoj Can the axiom affect what you do with the roland? Like if you have the Roland set to sound like a flute, can you bend the notes with the mod wheels?
Can I hook it up with fl studio
great video thank's ! Axiom 25 is a good friend of my akai s5000 now.
its just for apple ??
Yes, you can set this in Sampler (Logic Pro Instrument). There is a tick for that. It has nothing to do with the keyboard.
@EVILMALC There is no software for Axiom 25. Its the same as to say what is the software for the "mouse". Axiom is a tool for any software, same as any midi keyboard. Try using Garage Band, Logic, any music developer software, it will all do.
