Some of you people asking questions are making me question why you are looking at a midi controller of this caliber when its obvious you are extremely new to producing music. If you have to ask if this has built in sounds you need to go with the most basic of controllers. You wont use 99 percent of the functions this keyboard has for a very long time. If you have to ask if its compatible with your software id spend some time learning the basics of midi and your daw before touching something like this. Any midi controller will work with any DAW that accepts a midi input wich is pretty much every daw on the market right now. The only difference is this one is optimized perfectly for pro tools. You may have to map the controlls yourself in other daw's. There are a lot of people on here that really should worry about learning their daw before spending this much money on a controller as its going to be a long time before you really use this to its full potential and by the time you are ready to use a controller like this there will be a TON of new controllers to choose from
hope they dont try and retire this hardware with pro tools 11, i JUST bought 1 year ago it and its amazing how pro tools has opened up.

@MichaelOnGuitar you have to transpose it, press both of the buttons the + and - where it says octave and transpose, thats the way you transpose, if its in a lower pitch it must say trans -1, put it in 0 to have right
@invictorium It's plug and play, so YES, it will work controlling your vst plug-in instruments that you may have or any instruments that come w/Garageband. As far as controlling Garage bands mixer etc. I'm assuming if hypercontrol doesn't recognize it, you can program it to. Anyone else that knows 100% feel free to correct any inaccurate info I may have given.
@ whiterabbitred...this works with all the pro tools 8 versions, le, m powered , hd and other major DAW's too. I have mine running on pro tools 8 le and logic pro 9. The only thing is setup configuration may vary. Hope this helped, Thanx!!
m-audio axiom pro 61 midi-keyboard but it didn't work with may pro tools 11 in the windows 8.1 of windows 10 show may how can i make it and setup it to work?
@dannyduberstein Axiom pro 49 for sure, automap is awesome, plus you have a lot of possibility. 2nd generation use DirectLink which is quite close to HyperControl, but less powerfull
sold my MPK49, picked up this nice little keyboard, sync'd it with logic gotta say it was worth it... is smaller than the mpk, but fully functional... i think the only thing i'll miss is the roll function... but i can live without it...
@deftonesfan192 If you're gettting latency, it proably has nothing to do with the controller (Only midi, and controlling information is transmitted not audio) and has everything to do with your soundcard. Look for a low latency sound card that has ASIO drivers... You can also try ASIO4ALL, but I would recommend just getting a card with built in asio drivers.. Anything under 10ms should be fine.. Cheers!
My operating system is Mac 10.6 Snow Leopard and I have the Axiom Pro 61. When I go to peripherals to set this up for midi communication it doesn't give me following options.3 Macintosh Axiom Pro MIDI Input Ports Mac OS X 10.4 MIDI Input Ports Mac OS X 10.5 MIDI Input Ports Axiom Pro 613 USB A In Axiom Pro 61 Port 1 No Hyper Control Midi in or Out. I set Midi Port 2 for input and Midi Port 2 for Output and it worked a few times. Trying to make it work every time! Help
@thafirstone Axiom Pro 49 BY FAR!! you wont go wrong. The Axiom Pro connects so easily to your DAW with out much effort. the MPK just sucks overall. I returned it and bought the Axiom Pro 49
Hi dear I am using AXIOM PRO 61 for last 4 years on the same PC & DAW. I have played it to record lot of songs. Recently it stopped working and after trying other things, I found (from device manager) that it was using a driver provided by Microsoft (WINDOWS 7 -SP1) and not the one provided by M AUDIO. I do not how it got changed. I had installed it 4 years ago and do not know which driver I had used but it was one provided by MAUDIO for sure. I then down loaded the installer (AXIOM_Installer 1_1_2_Driver 5_10_0_6002) from M AUDIO website and installed it but it does not work. I hear no sound. I uninstalled the Microsoft driver and tried to use the HAVE DISK Option in WINDOWS so that windows can take the driver from my specified location but when I give the path by browsing, I get a message that there is no driver in that location (because it is an installer). In short despite my best effort in last 4 days, I am unable to provide the proper driver to the PC and when I restart the system, the WINDOWS automatically detects axiom pro 61 and installs the driver from Microsoft and when I try to update the driver, it is says you already have the best driver for this device. I am using the following : WINDOWS 7 SP1 DAW: STUDIO ONE 2.5 The same DAW and PC, I have always used.... so no change in the system specs. I am very frustrated. Please help. ahmad
For the commentors that don't like this controller, can you suggest an alternative that is in the same performance and price range? What would you purchase instead of this? This video makes it sound great, but if people are vocal about problems, I'd like to know about a good alternative. Thanks!
I have your answer. :D No,it doesn't come with built in sounds,it's in the midi controller category, so you have to get it hooked up with a computer. Hope I helped.
but can it work with pro tools..or what type of keyboard works with pro tools? because im trying to get one keyboard to make beats,,,,what do you recommend?
Hello, I have question. Do I need some external sound hardware for Apple Mac Mini 2011? Can I just plug it into to the USB and play without any latencies? Thank you.
Yeah the semi weighted keys feel much more like a "perfect weighted" keys. Full weight, ie Piano keys would be TOO heavy. I bought the 49 and I can't believe what I've been missing.
BOUGHT AN AKAI MPK 49, BUT NOW THIS IS LOOKING REALLY REALLY GOOD TO ME... DO YOU HAVE TO ASSIGN ALL THE FUNCTIONS WITH LOGIC PRO, OR DOES IT AUTOMATICALLY SYNC???? ANYBODY KNOW?
Iam having a problem with my Axiom Pro 49 maybe someone on here can help. System specs. ProTools 8.0.4 Imac 10.6.4 digi 003 When I setup the Hyper Control all transports work but some buttons dont like the f2&f3 buttons to scroll through tracks and while tweaking the encoders it locks up the screen on the axiom and then no buttons work. I have did the factory reset and all but it still is very glitchy. This is my 2nd unit from the dealer I got it at a GREAT Price New I hope that wasn't the deal.
Using LP9 and Having used both Novatations Auto Map on the Remote Zero (vs 1) and having just purchased an Axiom Pro 61 - I can say that mapping on AutoMap is WAY better. Axiom has pre assigned mappings and in all honestly, they are RUBBISH in logic. Filter Cuttoff being on page 9 in one plugin with resonance on another page. Thinking about taking it back and getting Novation 61SL. Anyhow, buyer be ware. Great keyboard otherwise although more knobs is nicer on the Novation. Happy Music Making!
You Lie! >:( im using an axiom pro 25 through reason 3.0 im getting latency nothing is automatically routed im having loads of trouble anyone help :( ???
This thing does not work as well as this bald guy is saying. He talks a good game. We should call him snake oil man. The only Daw they update with hypercontrol is Pro tools. Why you ask? M audio and Protools are the same company. If you happen to be outside of Live, apple logic, and reason which is actually a plugin, you should just buy a plain controller. 64 bit windows has lots of problem. Customer service is poor to say the least. Doubt it go to the M audio forum. I use to own it.

@1017poloshawty5
Yupppp. All the Axiom Pros have a solid auto map function that automatically syncs to whatever DAW you're using.
@ whiterabbitred...this works with all the pro tools 8 versions, le, m powered , hd and other major DAW's too. I have mine running on pro tools 8 le and logic pro 9. The only thing is setup configuration may vary. Hope this helped, Thanx!!
Have you chosen the correct patch for your set-up e.g. Logic/Apple etc.
If you go to M-Audio.com you can download the user manual.

@airusersblog Do they sell something to put it in that angle then?
Are there feet under the axiom to give it this angle? Stupid question but I would love to know! :P
Bring back this build quality, the new ones are Kids toys. I'll keep my Axiom pro 61 as long as there is parts

@Reyvm it works best with pro tools man. m-audio products always integrate nicely with pro tools.
So this is compatible with logic right?
I got a video tape of this guy teaching Logic 4. Times Change.
