Omg , after the carry on with the RT now this . Definitely send the video to Honda and see what responses you get 🤞. If you get the work done yourself at least you know it’s done right.
I still think the RT was a one-off, I just lost confidence in that bike and that I seem cursed with BMW, with all four bikes I have had having problems. I have had lots of bikes with no problems beyond the normal wear and tear you expect.
Dang , that’s a disappointment to hear and see. I know you had the BMW 1250 RT, I’m still riding my RT frequently. Everything seems to have been resolved and absolutely love the bike. Living 4 minutes from the ocean I can understand your frustration however, I’ve yet to see any evidence of corrosion. My 2 HD bikes definitely got attacked. Sold them for pennies on the dollar and never looked back. The RT has been a blessing once all the software issues were resolved…. I always enjoy conversing with you during your new RT days Best Gregg from Carlsbad Ca
Good to hear from you Greg, and glad the RT has done well, it is a fine bike. Life here is good, and I have had a lot of fun on the Goldwing, it is just a bit rusty!
Sadly this is the normal if bike ridden in UK with salt laden roads in winter Be it Honda, and other Japanese machines..as well as all European marquees. Yes..there will be riders who have bike that are MINT..but they are either not ridden or the owner spends more time polishing than riding ( each to their own) Modern world..seems to be a throw away society..and buying ANYTHING that has deep paint and plating is just another bye gone world.. As some have already mentioned..a wee chat to Mr Honda would be a must do. However..the Goldwing still a fabulous motorcycle Stay safe..
Totally agree with everything you say. I don’t really ride in winter, too cold now and no fun, and I expect bikes to rust, as you say the days of deep paint and plating are well over. Will be talking to Mr Honda but with no expectations
@@HighlandRider Just spent a week in Fochabers area..helping a friend recovering from hip replacement. Now back in sunny Fife My Yamaha Niken still performing well Stay safe
Unfortunately, you won't get away from this on heat shielding due to the heat cycling unless it stainless. Not lasted to bad for 2 year's but looks like they skimped on the costing on the inside from factory
Watched your videos on the RT. Having now just had delivery of our third RT in March we again looked at all the other options. We do get on well with the BMW dealer and as the residual vales are good obviously stuck with it. Personally they just do what we want. After I'd placed the order I did mention I'd considered a Goldwing and he did say with no mallice that they would not touch a second hand goldwing. Additionally residual vales are poor by comparison with BMW. However know you had a bad experience with BMW hence the Honda but that's not exactly great
I have had lots of good experiences as well, just for me I have yet to own a good BMW. That said I was looking at the R18 earlier this year because BMW still build lovely, desirable bikes. I post these videos because when I am looking at bikes I rarely find the ones where true ownership experience is shared, and had I known that Goldwings are notorious for wheel corrosion I would have stayed well clear.
@@HighlandRider I share your frustration, your move to the Goldwing made lots of sense. And we (alwaysride two up) was very tempted by the goldwing, possibly the 'tour' but as I said ultimatly took delivery of our third RT with TFT in March. The corrosion on your Goldwing is shameful! Persionally priot to the first RT we had a 2018 Yamaha FJR 1300 which was excellent but liked the intigrated sat nav of the BMW, which as yours was initially 'garbage' so much so as nearly sold the BMW, but a few software updates later it was sorted (android) after 18k miles we swapped it as we had an offer that we could not refuse for another, after 12k miles another stunning deal and we took delivery of our next one, this time a factory order and went for the ACC (Radar Cruise) we cant really fault the BMW but helped that our dealer is also excellent. Having dismissed the Honda I then considered a K1600, the heart said yes but the reality is they are dam heavy for me with my little legs! So overall we stuck with BMW. Again sorry about your Honda, Gutted, All the best.
A Korean car will have 6 to 10 years zero corrosion warranty. It shows up the cost cutting at Honda! You should not have to do that on such a low mileage, even if you had ridden through the winter
Everybike I have had, and I have had a few, suffer corrosion. I expect it and like many use products to protect, my choice being ACF 50. Withthe Goldwing though I have learned that you have to be very diligent and even then not sure that helps because unless you start to unbolt things, then problems are still going to exist. I also never like putting product on wheels or near brakes.
Depends what Honda say, so the immediate issue is treat the rust at minimal cost, then if Honda do what I think they will do, think long term and spend the money while I fight them

Question is would you buy another ?
If your keeping the bike couldn't you have the heat shields black chromed ?

OMG, WTF, quality control, what a complete effin joke, Honda should be completely ashamed. 😵💫😵🤨😲🫣😞
Should be but `i doubt they will. Shame doesn't make money.
