We did that on our long term shelters, to prevent it from rotting. For just one nighters it is not necessary. Here is a nice display of a campfire where we gradually load firewood as needed according to the flame, without unnecessary chopping with axe, which scares all the birds and game near camp.
I'm really digging the unusual (to me) stuff you guys are making. I've never tried squid and I think that's going to change once I finish rebuilding my firepit haha
this looked good, never had squid this way.looks sort of like pasta. will try it. i enjoy your vodeos so much and im always glad to see when one has uploaded.take care and stay well friends
@@RavensOfAsgard Seems like people outside of scandinavia are more interested in viking history than scandinavians. Here in norway the viking culture is either treated as a joke or like a barbarian period.
That is right. People don't aware what fortune they have until they loose it, especially in that fast tempo of modern life. We can learn so much from the Viking period. Seem like real vikings left their fjords for good.
At the end there I though you were charring the timber to put in the ground to build a shelter ;)

I just love the idea of a viking from 1000 years ago chilling in the woods with his best friend eating squid
That is right. Away from crowded cities so you can enjoy your favorite dish in peace.

Where did you find the flat ground knivn?
The full flat grind knife used in video is made by Václav Soudek from Czech Republic.
Seax on a belt is made by me.
What country is these videos filmed in?
Slovenia and Croatia mostly.
@@RavensOfAsgard Keep up the good work!
Thanks Magnus Eng.
