  • Every step is an opportunity to learn. It was Uncle Previn's first Comrades Ultra Marathon and I was just beginning to delve into the world of cinematography. I did not plan for this video at all, and most of the time Mira was on my shoulders. I shot hand-held and wanted to use it as an opportunity to learn to edit in Da Vinci Resolve.
I won't be winning any awards anytime soon, but I learned a lot from this one and hopefully preserved an epic day for one of our closest friends.
I also decided to compose and mix the soundtrack myself in an effort to practice pacing. It was also my first time using Cubase 11 Pro for audio AND video. Learning learning learning! I am happy with what I managed to put together with the on-the-fly (run-and-gun?) footage I managed to capture.
Aaaaand yes I have since learned to pay attention to frame rates!
It pushed me to start researching other aspects of story building and planning that I had not thought to look into before this video, so all-in -all it was a win.
Looking forward to the next one.
Hopefully will post a video dissecting the making-of process and all the mistakes that I made so we can learn together!
