    Absolutely stunning technology. So blessed to live in Olathe Kansas where this technology was engineered! I also had the honor of participating in a ride along during the in-flight testing before the system was released to the public. Working for Garmin definitely has it’s benefits 🙂

    Airbus Tests of the fully automatic landing system were carried out in April 2020. The tests used the A350-1000 aircraft, which made six test flights: four of them with fully automatic takeoff and five with fully automatic landing. During the checks, there were test pilots on the plane who were supposed to take over control in case of an emergency. The tests were carried out at Toulouse-Blagnac airport in the south of France.
    Tests automatic visual systems A350-1000 conducted Airbus since January 2020. Then this liner performed a series of fully automatic take-offs.
    In mid-2019, engineers from the Technical University of Munich tested an automatic landing system based on GPS, cameras and an inertial navigation system. During the tests, the aircraft with the installed vision system made an automatic landing.

      Honestly this is a worst case scenario system just like any other auto land we can never trust a computer to handle every emergency. How often does your pc goof and need to restart. It’s not as common on aircraft but still a fire is the perfect example, it’ll destroy computer systems and it can’t map what exactly a fires doing only detect heat so a pilot is more reliable in the event of a fire or certain system failures

    I would love to know, how does this negotiate with the tower or traffic control? how does the controller giver direction as to which landing runway? is their a voice recognition? or some frequency instruction standard piggybacked off other fly or land by wires systems? or tied to ILS?

  • @elturistaCR
    @elturistaCR 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The only thing that I wonder is that the plane chooses an airport to land and its respective runway, but what worries me is how they do with the radio to know that there is no more traffic approaching that runway ???

    • @LillyMcNealWhite
      @LillyMcNealWhite 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It notifies air traffic control. Because it's an emergency landing atc would clear the runway and also they either land arrivals on another runway or have them circle until that one is removed.

Burda göstermemiş ama kuleye bağlanıp acil iniş izni isteme yeteneğide var kesin tabiki ve ona öncelik tanınması sağlanıyordur. Just curious, is this intended only for pilot incapacitation, or can it be used partially by the pilot in an emergency (which I can't see but perhaps he has his hands too full tending to an emergency inside the cabin). Has this been tried in an engine out scenario?

    • @Assassin1959
      @Assassin1959 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I have to say this is only and intended for emergency only. I am sure the FAA will want to know why you pressed the auto landing procedure and diverted a bunch of aircraft out of your way.

    • @Sokeresa
      @Sokeresa 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's intended as emergency only! Particular in the event of "good plane bad pilot". That means no failure with the aircraft at all and some sort of pilot incapacitation. It can land the aircraft though with an engine out, it was mentioned in an article.

    What happens if the pilot passed out, the autoland emergency mode is activated by a passenger but they are flying in a zone without nearby airports with Radar, VOR or ILS or DME, etc. Does the autoland system land the airplane in an uncontrolled airfield available only by GPS location?

    RSK "MiG" has developed a system for the automatic landing of its fighters
    The engineers of the MiG Corporation received a patent for an automatic aircraft control system during landing approach. This was reported by the press service of the United Aircraft Corporation.
    This digital complex increases the safety of piloting in adverse weather conditions, allows the pilot to enter the glide path in automatic mode and, in less time, continue the descent until visibility appears. The new technology will find its application in the MiG-29M / M2 and MiG-35 aircraft.
    “We plan to introduce a new automatic landing system, developed by our engineers, into modern and promising aircraft complexes of the MiG brand,” said Ilya Tarasenko, General Director of the MiG Corporation. - The work is already underway. One of the main priorities of our engineers is the safety and maximum efficiency of the use of aviation technology. "
    The new development of the MiG Corporation included a number of innovative units, drives and systems, including a navigation and measuring complex. The advantages of the system have already been confirmed by flight tests with positive pilot ratings.
