      Hey Johnny! Thanks for your kind comment!
      When I arrived in Tokyo, I pretty much signed up to 5-6 agencies. But if I have to give a top 3. I would say Avocado, Alpha management and D'Xim are the best out there. Avocado will offer you a large variety of modelling work, Alpha management will offer work where they need a lot of models so it's easier to get the job but the paid is lower and D'Xim you can get not only modelling work but some acting, dancing or singing jobs. Cheers!

    Hi Matthieu! I just watched your video and it was super helpful and very specific, I really enjoyed it! Thank you for your help. I'm currently living in Japan with a working holiday visa. My working holiday visa is is valid until early march of 2020, and I have plans to head back to my home country afterwards.With now being mid December, do you think that time frame may be too short for modelling agencies to hire me? like do they require you to be there for at least a year or so? Or do you think I should be fine? It doesn't hurt to try at least. Please let me know. Thank you! :)

    • @MattFinds
      @MattFinds  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Drake! Thanks for the kind comment :) To answer your question, I think most agencies require models to be in Japan for at least 6 months. Therefore, even if you try I think they won't accept your application because of the time restriction.

      Hey Ulus! No, modelling isn't my main source of income. I have a full-time job and I do modelling on the side. If you want to stay in Japan longer, you will need to get your visa sponsored which can be quite difficult in the modelling industry.

    Are tattoos allowed?

    • @MattFinds
      @MattFinds  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tattoos is still a bit a taboo subject in Japan. I sometimes receive offers saying that no tattoos is prefered. However, if you have small tattoos that can be easily covered then it shouldn't be a big deal.

    • @MattFinds
      @MattFinds  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey man,
      They are no physical requirements for acting in Japan (but of course it also depends on what role they are looking for). The biggest advantage will be to speak Japanese. However, for modeling, being fit/muscular, about 180 cm plus can be an advantage.
      Hope it helps!

      Thanks a lot! Yes, I think it's possible. You would need to go the immigration to get a stamp specifying that you can work 28 hours/week. hello, thank you so much for your video it was super informative. I'm currently doing my research for living in japan and trying out modeling in tokyo. I have modeling experience with tfp but never worked with an agency. I'm planningto go to japan in spring and find a job, modeling seems like the best fit for me. however the visa issue is bothering me. I was wondering if i need to email them a couple of months beforehand to know whether i'm accepted and figure out my visa. What do you recommend, working holiday visa?is it easy to do without a mother agency back home, but finding one there or going freelance? Thank you very much again.

      Hey Myrsini Dumerili! Thank so much for your comment and I'm glad you found my video helpful :) If you manage to get a Working Holiday Visa then you can work as a model in Japan without any problems. If you are uncertain on what kind of visa you will obtain then yes it's better to email them to make sure you can work as a model in Japan. I definitely recommend the Working Holiday Visa and when you arrive in Japan register to as many agencies as you can and go freelance. Then afterwards, if an agency likes your work they can sponsor your visa in the future. Hope my answer helped :) Cheers!

      Hey,
      I also have the same visa in Japan. You need to ask the agency for documents for permission to engage in activities outside of your visa. After the agency provides them, you can go to the immigration center to apply. After 1 month, you will receive a letter stating if your application has been approved or not. If it's a yes, you can go back to the immigration center and they will stamp the back of your residence card :)

    • @MattFinds
      @MattFinds  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Effie! I think if you only want to be a fashion model then maybe they require women to be 1m65 or over. But if you want to appear in Japanese ads or movies then size doesn't matter. Usually your agent will send you a job offer and in the email it specifies in details what they are looking for. So it depends if you want to do ads, act or model. I hope my answer helps you :)

      Hey Sir Arrow,
      Thank you very much for message and question.
      Yes, it is possible to earn extra money on the side with modeling. However, it's quite inconsistent and even more now with the corona pandemic going on at the moment. If you give it a try, make sure to have plenty of great photos, register to as many agencies as possible, be available and learn a bit of Japanese.
      If you want to do something like graphic design, I suggest to take a look on linkedin, gaijinpot or craigslist to see if there is a position available.
