    What is your process for stopping dye migration?

      One stroke makes a line of plastisol inks called .357. The .357 white ink we use in our shop is extremely resistant to migration on cotton/poly-cotton/poly substrates. It's even opaque enough to be printed on most substrates that are dye sublimated, without using a grey under-base (ie. camo/digital camo). Our shop used to have to under-base with grey on many jobs, but using just 1 ink alone is so much more simple and time/resource efficient.

      One Stroke ELT Series...expensive but bulletproof....I use One Stroke mainly for about everything but if it is Dye Migration there is nothing better on the market other their ELT

      Mikey Designs & Silk Screen believe it or not I’ve never had that issue but I use a low cure low bleed ink aswell as I flash at a low temp and speed up the dryer so the shirts can’t dwell in the dryer for a long period of time.

      @@bagwear8689 We're the same way, but with camo shirts, it'll come up. First round we used a LC ink, and still had issues. This is the first we've had to buy a specialty ink to prevent it.

    Barrier grey base. Top whites can be low bleed whites

  • @mrthoth8371

    With camo you have to have an under base, I use Guardian Grey by International Coatings for my under base and then a good low bleed white ink for the final top color.

    I use that stuff on camos alot. I've also found you can cut with white up to 30%. Still blocks and much easier to use. Might even get away with 2 strokes instead of 3 :)

    Hey Matt, I've noticed that your flood bar does not go all the way past your design. Does that cause you any issues? Is it just the way you like to do it or a limitation on the press?

    • @mikeydesignssilkscreen473
      @mikeydesignssilkscreen473  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm still messing with the settings on the press. This video was from the first week using the machine. I can get the flood bar right up against the squeegee, but the way it is hasn't really caused any issue. I haven't found any limitation thus far.

    • @mikeydesignssilkscreen473
      @mikeydesignssilkscreen473  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In this case, it's what we needed to get the ink from bleeding. Aside from that I would use a white for an under base.

    Double stroke for the white only or flash and over print? Great vid.

    • @mikeydesignssilkscreen473
      @mikeydesignssilkscreen473  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I would definitely double stroke the white, but be sure to use some sort of low cure ink with a bleed blocker, or a specialty base ink to help prevent dye migration.

    Did you use any overlap on your top white or use butt registration? Also, you didn’t opt for the winged flood bars? Or did you get both? Any triple duro squeegees?

    • @mikeydesignssilkscreen473
      @mikeydesignssilkscreen473  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I choked the base just a touch so the gray would peak out. The stock squeegee duro that came with the press has been working great, but I do have some triple durometer blade around the shop. I have a few things up my sleeve I will try, but the press didn't come with winged flood bars. I may wait until this whole Corona Virus thing plays out before I go dropping money on upgrades.

    • @woogdesigns
      @woogdesigns 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mikey Designs & Silk Screen yeah man all I said was that we use digital black underbase for camo and digital camo poly. That it’s really the only thing we’ve found that’s been 100% reliable on those. Union barrier grey is good stuff too. For blends and regular poly we use either a low cure poly ink or cool white which is flex cure.
