    Too many people underestimate the BMW for some reason. Driving this fast isnt as easy as a lot of people think. Great car.

      Underestimate? If anything the car is constantly over estimated and praised when its prices have gotten inflated and ridiculous. The M3 fanboys are in full effect all the time claiming the car is better than most things when it really isn't.

      BMW ///M underestimates/understates itself. Every stock BMW M3/M4 I've seen on a dyno will put down its spec rated horsepower to the wheels. That would actually put its crank horsepower way over what the spec sheet says.

    • @ool3062
      @ool3062 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      bimmer21 Exactly! Like the M5, they claim it to do 0-60 in 3.4 seconds when it does in 2.8.

      @@ool3062 Are you high. Please post any source actually proving that. The NSX that weighs 500lbs less than the BMW does a 2.8 0-60. If you're going to make a bs statement like that back it up.

    This video, among many others proves a point I've been trying to make to my friends at our track events. Manufacturers are clueless and are all racing towards more HP figures, when in reality, 99% of the population can't use it. I own a 991.1 GTS manual. It's not the quickest in a straight line, but I can drive it at the limit and keep up with high powered exotics because the owners can't drive well enough to utilize them. 450hp is the sweet spot for me right now.
    Great driving and great job pushing your car to the limits.

    I understand why people dislike the BMW brand, its this much good, so the expectations are always negetive, that 675 was driven as hard as well, but of course we must admit that the Mclaren is on another level than the BMW, so for the BMW to keep actually means a lot in terms of engineering... Driving at this speed is no child's play, had the M4 been an Xdrive, this chase would have been different. Salute to the beemer..

    • @d1sturb3d119
      @d1sturb3d119 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Where do you folks get all these assumptions from? If anything the folks constantly praise BMW when their prices inflate out of control while giving you cheap crap interiors, cheap crap engine components that fail all the while claiming they're high end sports cars when there are much cheaper options in the market that do a better job. The BMW driver is great but lets not claim there's BMW hate when ironically enough Japanese brands get the most hate even when they do better than the Germans.

    • @duffydon1741
      @duffydon1741 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@d1sturb3d119 well, your perspective is noted with respect, but it does not change the dynamics of the BMW, well, there is nothing that comes from Japan except the mighty GTR, the mighty Type R and that LFA, should we mention the V8 lexus... Nah... Not quite... What else comes from Japan..or the Swiss based NSX Acura/Honda?

    • @d1sturb3d119
      @d1sturb3d119 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@duffydon1741 What? Swiss based? What are you talking about? Nothing in Japan? You sound like someone who doesn't spend much time at the track actually around cars. Real world performance is very different from what spec sheets and reviewers say.
      Making a car hard and unforgiving is easy. Giving it a dual personality is hard. BMW used to build cars that could do both. Their cars now are rough, unforgiving and can do one thing well which is set a lap time. On top of that they're exceptionally overpriced for what one gets given their short life and how many issues these cars have.
      For a fraction of the cost a ZL1 will run rings around an M3/M4/M5. Hell the RCF was barely slower than the M4 despite weighing more and being a softer GT car. Doesn't say a lot for BMW.
      Their better performance car for the money ironically would be the 2 series. The other cars are way to edgy and the interiors are down right cheap to say the least.
      Their cars are over inflated in its price, which the accountants are well aware of, given how these cars are all lease specials sadly.
      Just look at the track record of the E90 M3 and E60 M5. Both money pits that most enthusiasts can barely keep on the road.
      Now back to the driving aspect on the track, that M4 keeping up is great but this goes back to the main point I've been making. On a track like the Nurburgring which mimics road conditions, these performance cars can come no where near their threshold.
      This is exactly why an equivalent RCF, GSF, or whatever can keep up with no issues. No one is getting close to their 0-60 times, and no one is getting close to full throttle. Review anyone's telemetry and you'll see that is constantly the case.
      For all the cutting edge tech BMW uses, they constantly forget the most important part, which is road manners, and daily life.

High horsepower on real wheel always make it easy to lost grip when exit a corner. Plus, that car have so much torque that make it pretty hard to control. Yes it was. False signal happens often in a turn when fastly approaching another car in the next lane. System assumes you are in the same lane and predicting an impact, responding with Red car symbol and loud beeps. Not sure about turning it off. Very minor nuisance on the track but comes in handy on the street if being careless

    What's the problem with setup? Oversteering so much, all the time.

    What is the red light that comes on the dash cam @ 6:10?

      It is the Frontal Collision Warning which is one of the 4 features of the Active Driving Assistant from the Driver Assistance Plus package.

    M4 chassis looks to be very direct, but not exactly friendly

    • @natecollins867

      The car is very precise and direct, however the aero and light weight makes traction more difficult.

      @@natecollins867 3500 lbs isn't lightweight really. It's lighter than some in it's class, but still a bit hefty.

    Great driving from the BMW driver, you could see he was taking the car to its limits, the Mclaren clearly wasn't but was still giving it some ommphh on the straights. The BMW only caught the Mclaren on the corners and through braking, any half wit would know that the Mclaren would be a better braking and cornering car. Those Mclaren's cost a fortune though, its not the sort of car you can really afford to have a slip up in, people forget that.

    Why not keep the traction on? Would some so much counter steering

    • @natecollins867
      @natecollins867 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Traction control applies brakes to correct the car and that robs power on the track . Traction control for the streets and less skilled drivers

    Fantastic driving, great to watch. A well driven M4 competition can hassle much more expensive cars.
