This still has profound effect on me after these years. I got this show on dvd with a special edition album. Ive been at some great shows, ive seen soundgarden but this is just one of those times when stars align
Must be an awesome feeling to go to perform in a country that doesn't share your language and have the people there sing your song back to you. Man... Btw, this is no bullshit festival crowd--these mofos know their Soundgarden!
They were the best rock band of the 90s, and the best of grunge. Alice In Chains was cool because it had Layne Stanlley and today Jerry Cantrell can't hold it together, SoundGarden is one of those bands that with RARELY exceptions ALL the members are top level musicians, just like the Beatles or PinkFloyd, where all the members were talented and multifaceted. The bassist (Ben Shepherd) is a monster, the drummer (Matt Cameron) is a killer, the guitarist (Kim Thayil) is breathtaking in the tuning and complexity of the riffs, and Cornell sings like a God of Olympus, as well as playing very well, it's a band that has everything in terms of music, composition, chords, sonority, it's like a classical music show where the Maestro is rock n roll.
I am so grateful that when I first saw Soundgarden back in 1990 there were no mobile phones at all. We were completely THERE, with all muscles and senses - and our hearts.
I only started to pay attention to soundgardens music... I'm a singer by myself and really can't understand all the crying about his voice, he's nearly 50 now and still hits awesome money notes as a baritone though :) He has an awesome voice and everyone complaining probably has no Idea about singing in general...

nomorelies86 They have a younger demographic audience that is hungry for Rock n Roll! Very enthusiastic and full of Energy and Youth. And look at how big the Audience is! It looks like 80k people or something! That’s like a Football Stadium 🏟! Amazing! The Cult played Argentina recently and the crowd knew every song and sang along to every song and generally went nuts! It was an incredible show! They’re not jaded or bored like Western audiences! And Chris screaming Save Me! I wish someone would have done exactly that! Another great singer gone and from what I could tell about him he seemed to be a really good guy! That makes his loss even harder to take. There’s plenty of jerks, assholes and just plain evil people that I wish would drop dead but they go on living! They’ll probably live to be a hundred! But the good ones die young! Kurt, Layne, Hutchence and now Chris! Not Fair and Not Right but that’s the way it is! RIP Chris
I noticed that he didn't always sing in the original keys, but I don't think that he was flat. Losing my hearing from decades of headphones, though, so I could be wrong...
Douglas Staggs I saw them in July/14 His voice has matured. He's lucky he can still belt it out. Robert Plant could not even reach these notes at his age. Chris quit smoking, drinking and doing drugs in his late thirties. You really cannot expect someone to sound as they did in their 20's. His vocals would put a strain on anyone. Mr. Cornell has a 4 octave range, which is in itself a major accomplishment.
Clueless on the negative. I'm sure he has had to adjust his vocals in years. He would have no voice left at all, if he was still singing the way he did twenty plus years ago. In my opinion he has aged very well and graciously.
CHRIS CORNELL IS A GENIUS , EVERY SONG IS TO THE POINT AND FROM REAL LIFE , I HAVE THE UTTMOST RESPECT FOR HIM AND ALL WHO HAD THE PLEASURE OF KNOWING HIM.
Don't care if anyone disagrees.....BUT in my opinion, they are the greatest band from the Seattle area in about the last LIKE 25 yrs. along with Alice in Chains.....Superunknown is also my favorite album in history NOW......end of discussion......sometimes Layne does it for me (RIP) to him but Chris on Super. Is the greatest EVERRRR.......!!
For me I love all what were seen as the big four "grunge" bands of the 90's. I don't think you say there is a best one, as they all had something unique to offer and were equally talented (albeit in different ways). For me, Pearl Jam is my favourite but they were all great, such a tragedy that only one of those four amazing singers are with us still. RIP may your music live for eternity 🤘🎸
Amazing performance of Beyond The Wheel, Chris was roughly 50 years old here. Blows my mind how sustainable his voice was, kind of makes me overlook Plant's prime years.
I am laying here in the hospital. I feel like crap and can't get any sleep too noisy 😫. Thank you Soundgarden and Chris Cornell for being able to watch this concert on my phone. Not only are you entertaining me but giving me the gift of awsome music to deal with this situation. ❤
Hope things are better with you. I miss Chris and am so grateful at 61 years old that I am healthy and still alive. Chris was taken from us way too soon.
I was there!!! holding the sign "can I play Blow up on guitar" right after Outshined lol so many people holding signs like that that he would obviously not take anyone on stage ahaha but at least it felt pretty good having that interaction with Chris!! A few years later he came back to play solo, once he finished the show he went to the first row and say goodbye to everybody, and he gave me his guitar pick and a hug!! Damn it, it felt so good, so unreal at the same time.
I love the comment the Bass player gave on their Documentary/Concert. He mentioned that they let someone on stage and the next thing you know everyone has a sign. He said, playing the songs was the band members job and quit letting audience members play.
Kym is so freaking cool. He not a show boat but he's got some of the most gnarly guitar riffs still to this day. One of my favs for sure. Keep those bad ass tunes coming kym. You've been away too long. We need more soundgarden!!
People complaining about Cornell's voice not being the same... I believe all of us were in better shape 20 years ago... I attended to the concert in Brasil and it was amazing. All of them in great shape and Matt Chamberlain kicked ass, nobody in the crowd missed Matt Cameron.
Bloody hell. This is an incredibly powerful thing to witness. Let Me Drown is out of this world. Even the setlist, the way it's built, is a work of art in and of itself. It takes you for a ride, with ups, downs and surprises. My God, what a live band. Things will never be the same. This phenomenon happens precisely once. And we are the generation who got to receive this. We have been blessed. Magik is real.
All the late 80;s/90's grunge bands were incredible. Not a huge Nirvana fan, but I found "10" and a buddy tells me if I like that I should get Superunknown. Blew my mind. The hear Alice in Chains and STP. Like you said, what an era.....
Crimson King His monitors suck. That kind of flat meandering tone is because of crappy monitors. If your monitors suck when you're singing, you are up a creek.
No amigo.
greatscottdrums I stand corrected Gentleman, my bad, as a drummer and die-hard Soundgarden fan, I should have realized it wasn't Jimmy C. Next time I'll do my homework. LOL!
greatscottdrums I see I'm not the only one missing the mark, the article I got the data from on Mr. Chamberlain, characterizes SG as a "grunge band." True they came out of the grunge era, but they were NOT a grunge band! Here is the link if interested. www.blabbermouth.net/news/soundgarden-plays-first-show-with-new-touring-drummer-matt-chamberlain-video-available/
i swear, everyone acts like a kid now adays quit arguing about of someone lost their voice, jesus christ so what its soundgarden, thats all that matters
GuccioneAle Matt Chamberlain is a very successful session musician who now works from LA, but worked out of Seattle for a long time and became friends with all the guys up there. He's played with a bunch of people (check his Wiki,) including Pearl Jam for a short time, which is coincidently where Matt is doing his thing. Just a scheduling conflict, nothing serious, Cameron is still in Soundgarden but Chamberlain is filling in for him this touring cycle where he can't make it. jazzlive You are sorely wrong, sir. Everybody in Seattle back in the day called Matt the best drummer in town, including Chamberlain. Some get close but none play like him. That said, I'm a big fan. Chamberlin is more fluent over many genres, but Cameron is more adept within his confines of the prog/jazz influenced rock he perfected.
Carlo Von Sexron you're so wrong. There's nothing exceptional about Cameron's drumming. He's a banger, not much creativity. A case could be made for Chamberlain as the best groove drummer in the world. "Everybody in Seattle"? I live in Seattle. WTF do you know
jazzlive Oh my goodness, sir. Am I being punk'd? Matt Cameron is easily one of the greatest drummers of his generation, the amount of combined energy, finesse, power, taste, and technique he executes in his playing flawlessly is a sight to behold. Not to mention the ingenuity and thoughtfulness he puts into recording. He's also in my opinion easily one of the most talented sticksmen to ever weave through odd time signatures in that fashion. He makes odd meters sound straight, straight meters sound odd, he makes time his bitch. And no creativity? For fucks' sake, Little Joe, Face Pollution, Rusty Cage, Beyond the Wheel, Gun, Hands All Over, Searching With My Good Eye Closed, Ty Cobb, Never the Machine Forever, Mind Riot, Black Hole Sun, 4th of July, My Wave, Like Suicide, Fell on Black Days, Let Me Drown, She Likes Surprises, Kyle Petty, Jesus Christ Pose, She Likes Surprises, Rhinosaur, Dusty, Never Named, .... That's just a good bit of Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog has Wooden Jesus, Pushin' Forward Back, Reach Down, Four Walled World... Man I could go all day with this. Don't forget his extensive catalog with Pearl Jam and his side projects like the Garage Rock of Wellwater Conspiracy and Hater, to his real influence- Jazz- with his band Harrybu McCage. Matt is a great mixture of Steve Gadd, Tony Williams, Stewart Copeland, and Bill Bruford. Just listen for it. And of course he's a basher he's in Soundgarden, they cover all the bases. "Of all the Rock drummers to emerge over the last twenty-five years, few have been as consistently tasteful and inventive as Cameron." - Modern Drummer Magazine "11 Reasons to love Matt Cameron" November 2010
I'm a huge fan of the band and their songwriting but it's a bummer his voice is so blown out. Studio work is amazing but Chris is really fighting it during the live performances.
R.I.P. chris cornell.
When I wanna see my favorite band in all its glory, I always search for a live show in South America….they bring the psychotic soccer stadium energy and it’s guaranteed to be fantastic!
Matt Chamberlain who had played with Pearl Jam in the very beginning & also is Tori Amos' drummer.. Great choice for a Cameron-less SG.. The guy is amazing.. Yes, I'd like to see Dave A play again with either PJ or SG, too..
@@nir8vana Matt Chamberlain (drumming above) was with Pearl Jam very briefly (like a month or two) and is the drummer you see in the Alive video. He did not want to join PJ, so he played for a little while, and recommended Dave Abbruzzese to Pearl Jam. Chamberlain is kind of a legend, and has played with so many artists as a recording drummer.
Great Concert From Chile. Chris Cornel' s Voice Still Going Strong. I Saw Some Comment About Chris Voice Has Been Bader By The Years. I Got One Thing Too Say BullShitt. I Love SOUNDGARDEN. :)
Same here bro, I don't get how people can be so idiotic to not appreciate that we still have a grunge god with us (considering that kurt, layne and now scott are gone), and his voice has obviously changed through the time, but he still can sing and reach high notes, Bullshit chris still sounds awesome!
Of course his voice had taken a lot of damage over the years. It's not only age, but also the profession. He sounded great with only the acoustic guitar, but with the full band, the more screaming and high pitched vocals, those clearly sounded more challenging. He still did a great job, though. But his voice was past his prime for heavier songs. It's also a question of how the form is on that particular day.
Just as good as always! Soundgarden shows how to do a show. They give you a couple hours. Chris sounds great. Kim is amazing and Ben is just brilliant. Matt too.
Whoa! I didn't think Chris could sing so high by the time he gets to 41:00 minutes. Didn't really listen to Ultramega OK, but I recognize that pitch from the Bad Motorfinger days.
Always surprised they never dropped a half step for Chris (though I am sure that was his choice). At 50 years old here, you can hear he's flat quite a bit but hell, he's singing stuff he sang at 20 and still doing it justice. Good show.
This is a great concert! At least I can watch and listen to this show when I want to relive the Soundgarden experience! RIP Chris-We Lost You Too Soon!

Super band Sound Garden. Matt chamberlains drumming style is just unique and classic. The sound quality of this show is just awesome. Chris vocals were just damn good at the age he has performed , Ben and kim having great time Thanks a lot for sharing.
There's just not enough that could be said about matt. No fckn doubt why every grunge band wanted him!! He's still badd ass! Definitely one of my favorite drummers. Impeccable timing, flawless !
Thank you!!! I searched long and hard for a comment about Matt Chamberlain !!! HeZ absolutely awesome in this performance! HeZ always been one of my favorite drummerZ, 👍🤘🥁 and you have to love that traditional grip!

Kim Thayil is one of the most underrated guitar players of all time. He doesnt play flashy leads, but his grungy riffs and rhythms are unmatched.
Ive always said that too! him and Jonny Greenwood.
Kim’s solos are pure bent brilliance.
I've heard Kim Thayil. He's good, but his playing is not unmatched. Let's be real here.
Yeah. He's sat on Bandcamp with 100 listens

Patrick Lynn Yeah that makes sense, the guy is actually a really great guitar player though, so I'd like to see him still play
South america has the best crowds in the world. No doubt in my mind.
Every single artist that goes there gets the best receiving.

Amazing performance of Beyond The Wheel, Chris was roughly 50 years old here. Blows my mind how sustainable his voice was, kind of makes me overlook Plant's prime years.
the fact that this guy can play the lead riff of Rusty cage and hit every vocal note all while playing in a weird ass time signature is insane
God I love this man Chris Cornell!

AA VFX His voice sounds pretty terrible on most of this set to me.
Crimson King His monitors suck. That kind of flat meandering tone is because of crappy monitors. If your monitors suck when you're singing, you are up a creek.
chavruta2000 Without the monitors you have little idea if your voice is even coming out let alone knowing if it sounds right.
yeah. and if it's out of phase or too loud, people generally sing flat.
IL SUICIDIO É UNA ALTERATIVA!???
absolutely the best concert i have ever been to was in 1996 down on the upside tour in washington DC... chris is an amazing singer!
boy he still hits it very high on Beyond the Wheel!!
R.I.P. Chris.
I'll love you, forever.
Couldn't of asked for a better fill-in drummer than Matt Chamberlain....awesome!
The guy sounds even a little better than the original drummer to me :) Both are good tho .
It might be a matter of a different drum set too.

No amigo.
Matt Chamberlain is a BEAST!
How cool is that!
"Jimmy" Chamberlain, guys formerly of the Pumpins, sure it was just a typo.
greatscottdrums
I stand corrected Gentleman, my bad, as a drummer and die-hard Soundgarden fan, I should have realized it wasn't Jimmy C. Next time I'll do my homework. LOL!
greatscottdrums
I see I'm not the only one missing the mark, the article I got the data from on Mr. Chamberlain, characterizes SG as a "grunge band." True they came out of the grunge era, but they were NOT a grunge band! Here is the link if interested. www.blabbermouth.net/news/soundgarden-plays-first-show-with-new-touring-drummer-matt-chamberlain-video-available/
Take a listen to the guitars on songs like New Damage and Slaves & Bulldozers and tell us with a straight face they're not grunge..
My hearts go ou to every one involved
❤
i swear, everyone acts like a kid now adays quit arguing about of someone lost their voice, jesus christ so what its soundgarden, thats all that matters
Man it's crazy I had tickets to see them in Houston a week after Chris left here. The one concert I will forever be waiting for. Great loss, Chris.
Damn
He sounds great
Woou Matt Chamberlain!! Excellent drumming man!
Who is Matt Chamberlain ?
Where is Matt Cameron ?
GuccioneAle matt cameron is playing with pearl jam
Carlo Von Sexron
you're so wrong.
Mr. Cornell's voice gets better the further into the concert. He just needs to warm up, like an old car.
haha lmao, now now, enough with old people jokes. not yet :D
Now, he will never sing... RIP Chris

Best Beyond the wheel i have ever seen
Te amamos en Chile, CHRIS.
THANK you CHRIS
Matt Chamberlain is an awesome drummer!
Was Matt Cameron too busy with Pearl Jam at the time?
;askoefj he indeed was
I'm so happy that this happened!
Here with a glass of whiskey celebrating this legend...fuk man..what a loss...
Chile was very lucky that Night
to have SOUNDGARDEN around
I'm a huge fan of the band and their songwriting but it's a bummer his voice is so blown out. Studio work is amazing but Chris is really fighting it during the live performances.
Rest in peace Chris Cornell, so sad!!!
HAPPY 50 Chris !!
The best crowd
no
Besides the mexican, yes.
R.I.P. chris cornell.
When I wanna see my favorite band in all its glory, I always search for a live show in South America….they bring the psychotic soccer stadium energy and it’s guaranteed to be fantastic!
spitting facts
Just saw them yesterday. Whatever was missing in Chile, he sure got it back for Tel Aviv. He was great.
1:02:20 my god love this part!
Gone too soon :( You will forever be missed!!!!!!
Chris Cornell's vocals were on pitch and Kim Thayl played like a caveman hero!
Matt Chamberlain who had played with Pearl Jam in the very beginning & also is Tori Amos' drummer.. Great choice for a Cameron-less SG.. The guy is amazing.. Yes, I'd like to see Dave A play again with either PJ or SG, too..
is that the drummer on Ten?
@@nir8vana no, dave krussen was
@@nir8vana Matt Chamberlain (drumming above) was with Pearl Jam very briefly (like a month or two) and is the drummer you see in the Alive video. He did not want to join PJ, so he played for a little while, and recommended Dave Abbruzzese to Pearl Jam. Chamberlain is kind of a legend, and has played with so many artists as a recording drummer.
@@cjmst3k awesome
Holy shit so fuckin awesome so glad I got to see them in the day rip Chris rip soundgarden
Just as good as always! Soundgarden shows how to do a show. They give you a couple hours. Chris sounds great. Kim is amazing and Ben is just brilliant. Matt too.
There's no Matt Cameron here though.
@@jawadahmed3885 yeah the drummer is called Matt chamberlain, I don’t know if he knew that or not though
stepping in for Mr. Cameron means huge shoes. But as a live drummer for Tori Amos he easily did it. @@Wikcan
38:00 Beyond the wheel, holy shit, did that send chills down my spine
Whoa! I didn't think Chris could sing so high by the time he gets to 41:00 minutes. Didn't really listen to Ultramega OK, but I recognize that pitch from the Bad Motorfinger days.
Ultramega is beautiful and so is louder than love and screaming life

Always surprised they never dropped a half step for Chris (though I am sure that was his choice). At 50 years old here, you can hear he's flat quite a bit but hell, he's singing stuff he sang at 20 and still doing it justice. Good show.
Fukn love Soundgarden. Rest in peace Chris, May God Bless you.
Definitely the best to roar out of Seattle ❤ Flawless, Superb,Melodic, Wonderfully Bombastic,❤ Thank U for posting this ❤
Chris sounds awesome in this concert, ojalá vengan a Colombia :'(
Ohhh that day..... I'll never forget :')
