    Carl, I spent my youth using these radios for my job. They are indestructible. I know, I once dropped one in a river, in Scotland, in the snow. It still worked, Don't tell the Queen. Keep it up mate.

    Well, I'm glad for two things in your video today. #1You decided to go inside. I was afraid I'd have to tramp around with you in the damp and cold. #2 You finally laid the radio down on the desk. It was rocking a little too much for my comfort and I was afraid it would tip over onto you laptop. It also gladdened my heart that you antenna wires were so precisely laid around the exterior house - much as my wires are. Good video; to bad there was no contact today. There's always tomorrow. Keep them coming Carl. BTW, appreciate the mention in your Christmas comments. W0YVY

    Cheers Carl. I'm away at the moment sans the gear so really enjoyed seeing a radio video today :-)
    Mate, I've no 4m antenna up but had been considering it myself.. but have been monitoring Hack Green's 4M SDR a bit and to date I've not heard a peep. I would have been surprised to hear anyone come back to your call. I think a sked might be the only real chance of a contact.

    Let's give 4m a really good go in 2020 Carl! See if we can get a bit of regular activity going in the midlands & North West of England & Wales.. Get that knee better soon mate!

    I like the fire place cooker. You should keep using it through winter.
    You gave 4m a try but no one was there. Oh well. Sometimes there's no one at the other end and you have to wait until the next sked. Keep the green radio coming 7 3 de VK4SOE.

    Hi Carl, thanks for the video, I appreciate the work that goes into making them. I have just bought a 352 set up and found that I am missing the BNC cable from transmitter to amplifier. Please could you look and give me the Nato Part Number from yours, so that I can find one? I would be grateful. Thanks.
    It's now 2 1/2 years since you made this and there does seem to be more activity on 4m. In Berkshire, my patch, the locally monitored frequency is 70.425 and there is a net based round the Reading area from 2030 to 2130 on Wednesday evenings.

      I have a transverse but have no room for a beam. I like to keep the dust off my military collection by calling CQ endlessly for a few days. 🙂

      You can get them on Ebay for a modest price, I built my collection up slowly buying just what I needed to get up & running to start with. Cost me about £650 for a Thick Fin version with LSB batteries charger audio gear & antennas & soft backpack, but by then the bug had bitten me hard & the only thing I'm now missing in that collection is the mast but that's just a matter of time. I've added a PRC4031 & an Ex Navy Plessey/Skanti TRP8255 HF Marine Transceiver I just love green /grey HF Military Radios they don't break easily.

    Hi Carl. Thanks for another good insight into mil radio. I'm just intrigued by the fact that a lot of these mil radio's seem to like to run with an open squelch and wondered if you had any comment on that ????

    Hi Carl, maybe get that antenna well away from the houses to reduce attenuation? Would be worthwhile checking you can hear yourself on Hack Green VHF SDR. Keep the faith. I’ll keep an eye on the FB page and via WhatsApp for the 4m activity so I can get out portable....Cheers, Nick M1DDD

    Have you removed the 150Hz tone? It works on TX/RX The only way I know of defeating it is to turn the level right down as the tone itself cannot be switched off. Otherwise your transmitted audio will heard with tone imposed, I did this to my 351/2 & it worked, also the deviation is far too wide at 12.5Khz & will need adjusting then you'll have a really good bombproof 4m radio. Great Vid BTW 73's de M0NJE

    so using a prc 349 at the same frequency as a prc 352 it would work in theory would it not? I would like to know to use across the farm

    • @M0SZT
      @M0SZT  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 349 doesn't do amateur bands so can't recommend using it but they can work on same frequency.. A 350 and a 352 can using amateur bands.

    Are you are talking into the wrong side of the microphone, the outside is noise reduction, ie to cut out the sound of gunfire ..bombs..speech etc. put it on your head and use it properly or use a handset.
