  • Full show from 11/22/2000 (along with the last few mins from 11/21). It's my last episode from the tape I just obtained, and its a good one… and if every contestant on this episode looks familiar, it's because all four were featured in the show's intro from 2001 onward.

    Michael Shveima seemed like a nice young gentleman, good for him. Regis's reaction to his Notre Dame story is priceless 😂

    Justin Ray Castillo is my favorite Millionaire contestant. He seemed like a guy who was kind of down on his luck and working a menial dishwasher job that a guy like him with a college degree was overqualified for.
    He won $500K and that must have been an absolute life-changing amount of money for him. Yet he barely made it into the hot seat. He wouldn't have even had the chance if the big fella who was in the hot seat hadn't gone out early.
    I always felt bad for Justin when I saw his appearance on the show, even though he did really well. He seemed down on himself. I hope his successful run on the show improved his self-confidence and helped him get that video editor job that he wanted!

      I knew the gyroscope wasn't correct, so I am glad that he walked. The gyroscope was Foucault's work.

      I definitely knew it wasn't the yo-yo. Idk when it was invented and who studied the effects. I know it mostly goes up and down.

    That Tower of Pisa question was tough...you probably wouldn't know that if you hadn't visited it or studied a lot of European history

      Nah, you really only need to know that's it's in the same square as the main church, which is a given since it's the only touristic spot in Pisa anyway

    Regis did NOT like the lifeline being used on the Sacred Cow question. He really had to stop himself from calling Justin an idiot.

      yea that's right. i wasn't expecting such mistake by WWTBAM though.. Istalbul was the latest capital of Ottoman Empire not since the year 1923. I live in Istanbul.

    • @Computerman859
      @Computerman859 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This was not a major mistake, as Moscow was the right answer. For a while Istanbul served as the capital of Turkey. The contestant even used a lifeline. See 35:30.

    14:00 "Be quiet", "shut up", or "shut your piehole/mouth" could have been suitable easy answers, but since this program was rated G, "Be quiet" would have been the obvious choice.

    It’s a good thing that Michael Shveima did not say “Yes, final answer” to gyroscope because he would of been wrong, the right answer is what Regis said a pitched curve ball.

      Michael Shveima seemed like a decent guy, I'm happy he walked when he did.

  • @EricAKATheBelgianGuy

    I would have been out way early on Michael's run - I had never heard of the term "egg-beater," and would probably risk a llama on that question, although hopefully the audience would have helped me out - I would have needed them. If I survived that, I'd probably be busted at $2,000, because I didn't know that one either. Some of the runs I could have done well, but this one would have been a disaster for me, unfortunately.

    • @WWTBAMclassics
      @WWTBAMclassics  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That happens to me too sometimes. The worst is when you get two of those early level questions that seem unusually tough.
      In one of the late ‘00 eps (forget the date but I know it’s October) a contestant has to use two lifelines on one of those questions

      I think at best, I'd finish with $16,000 on that stack. Even then, I might be a little generous with myself here.

      If I'm being generous about my confidence if I were in the hot seat, I think I could have won $125K like he did.
      I was like 70-75% sure on the $300 and $500 questions, and got both correct. I'd like to think I would have gone for it without using a lifeline, but who knows. I would have asked the audience on the bird crest question, I honestly had no idea on that one.
      Assuming the audience got that question right, I knew the next three questions. I only knew the Walton's question because my mom told me about watching that show when she was growing up.
      I knew the $16K decrescendo question was B or D. I know nothing about music notation, but I have a friend who was a music major in college. I would have picked her as a phone a friend for that reason, because WWTBAM had a lot of questions about music notation. If I had panicked earlier and wasted that lifeline, I would have got that question wrong and left with $1,000. my guess was play slower.
      I thought the 32K question was New Jersey, but I would've used the 50:50 to make sure.
      I guessed right on the 64K question, and I knew the 125K question before the answers even came up. I had absolutely no idea on the 250K question, and I would have walked away immediately.
