Erm ... first one is a diminished arpeggio not scale and second one is a diminished scale , ( one of 2 )not half diminished as that would be a minor 7 flat 5 .. which is Locrian mode. But I know what you mean , best to get terminology right if your teaching though . Whole tone scale ... yes ..correct ... 😁😁 Augmented (5th) Boom 💥

Augmented triads and inversions fit perfect in the whole tone scale. It is super cool sounding and it's just one shape all the up the neck.
