TUTORIAL: How to remove Dashboard on VW Volkswagen Passat B6 3C, B7 & CC (2006-2016) in 46 steps

  • Volkswagen Passat B6 3C, B7 & CC (2006-2016) Dashboard removal or replacement in 46 steps.
    Required tools:
    - flat blade screwdriver: amzn.to/3thkKWs
    - 8 & 10 mm wrench or socket: amzn.to/45pWi7y
    - ratchet and extension ratchet: amzn.to/3wUiff8
    - M12 & M8 Triple Square Bit or Torx T55: amzn.to/48UK21W
    - trim tool: amzn.to/3Q1vIft
    - T20 & T25 Bit Torx: amzn.to/3Q3zAfI

    00:00 - Remove the steering wheel airbag
    1. Insert the key in the ignition to unlock the steering wheel
    2. Disconnect the battery terminals, starting first with the negative terminal
    3. Adjust the steering wheel towards you and then lift it up
    4. Release the airbag from the metal clip
    5. Do the same with the other metal clip
    6. Pull the airbag out of the steerinng wheel and diconnect the wires
    05:40 - Remove the steering wheel
    7. Take the key out from the ignition to lock the steering wheel
    8. Remove the bolt from the steering wheel using a 12 Point Spline Bit M12 S2
    9. Remove the steering wheel
    07:16 - Remove the Clock Spring Airbag & Signal or Wiper's Arm
    10. Remove the bolt from the underneath the steering wheel column
    11. Separate those two plastic parts from the steering wheel column
    12. Remove those two bolts
    13. Disconnect the yellow harnes and the black harness from the clock spring airbag
    14. Remove those two bolts using a 12 Point Spline Bit M8 S2
    11:38 - Remove the CD Radio Unit
    15. Remove the Radio Unit frame using a trim tool and then disconnect the Hazard button cables
    16. Remove the frame from the AC climate control unit panel using a trim tool and then remove the harness from the passanger's airbag warning light
    17. Remove those 4 bolts using a T20 Torx and then take it out to remove the cables
    14:17 - Remove the AC (Climatronic) Control Panel
    18. Remove those 4 bolts using a T20 Torx and then remove the cables
    15:44 - Remove the Interior Dash Trims
    19. Remove the interior dash trims using a trim tool
    20. Open the storage, push on the plastic tab from inside and then lower the storage
    21. Remove the plastic cover from the left side of the dash
    17:48 - Remove the Headlight Switch
    22. Remove the headlight switch pressing inside from the 0 position. While you keep pushing in, turn the headlight switch to Auto position
    23. Remove those 2 bolts from the left side using a T20 Torx
    24. Remove the bolt from inside the headlight switch location and then those two from above using a T20 Torx
    25. Remove those 2 bolts and then disconnect the harnesses from the ignition and from the headlight adjustment switch
    19:45 - Remove the Instrument Cluster
    26. Remove those 2 bolts using a T20 Torx and cables
    20:54 - Remove the Glove Box
    27. Remove those 3 bolts from the lower side of the glove box and then those 4 bolts from the upper side using T20 & T25 Torx
    28. Remove that hose from the glove box and cables
    23:49 - Remove the Armrest
    29. Slide the seat back to remove the bolts from the left and right plastic parts using a T20 Torx
    30. After you removed the plastic piece, remove the bolt using a T20 Torx
    31. Remove those two bolts using a T20 Torx
    32. Remove that plastic part and then remove the 2 bolts
    33. Remove the part from the armrest pulling it straight and then up to take it out
    34. Remove those 2 nuts using a 10 mm socket
    35. Remove the gearbox lever gaiter
    26:20 - Remove the switches from the Gear Stick (Auto Hold Button, ESP Off button, Electronic Handbrake Button, Start Stop System Button, Parking Sensors Button)
    36. Remove that plastic part then remove the 2 bolts
    37. Remove those buttons from the left and right gear stick using a flat screwdriver and the cables
    38. Remove that part from inside the ashtray and then remove those 2 bolts
    39. Remove the ashtray and disconnect the cables
    29:33 - Remove the Dash Analog Clock
    40. Pull the analog clock out and then disconnect the cables
    41. Remove the A pillar trim using a trim tool and a T20 Torx
    Remove that AIRBAG plastic cap from the A pillar trim
    42. Remove the plastic piece from the lower part of the A pillars
    43. Remove all the bolts that holds the dashboard in place using a T20 & T25 Torx and 8 mm socket
    44. Remove the cables from the left and right air vents, from the interior temperature sensors and from the passenger's airbag
    37:57 - Remove the Light Sensor from the Dashboard
    45. Use a trim tool to remove that light sensor and then disconnect the harness
    46. Remove the dash.
