    Some of the best tuts on this subject I've ever seen. Pacing is right, fluff minimal but not boring, NO SKIPPED STEPS, etc. Easy to build off of earlier examples too.

    Thanks for doing this properly! Not just giving a recipe to produce something but explaining why each node is used and what it does, so people can learn how to make something themselves and not just use your recipe to make the exact same geometry.

      You find so? "Select the cone"...and it jumps to the World Origin. How TF did that happen? He never said anything about moving the object to the WO with "Alt G". So he lost me right there for quite a long time.

    Hey! Im very happy that other people are finding this video to be precise, but I really, really struggled to follow along. It would be a huge help of instead of saying 'plug this in here' or 'just drop that here' if you were to say *where* it's being droppped. I don't have access to a large screen, and it can be v hard to read in all the visual noise where things are supposed to go. Thanks again for the tutorial!

    41:00 On 4.0.1 for some reason 2 Nodegroups acted like 3. And 3 on my side acted like 7 on your side, not rendering and lagging. Not sure if I connected something wrong but Realize instances solves the issue and less nodes for me anyway I guess

    @32:35 - just wanted to add a note that I think this piece was incorrect. The offset is gonna be Z only no matter what as the X and Y are explicitly set 0 (no offset). I do see though why realize instances was needed (rotation/scale). This is something I believe a "non geonodes 'instance' allows maybe, but not a geonodes instance - not sure? I would think an instance would allow rotation and scaling, but it's clear to see that they aren't affecting it before the realize instances - but also not related to the noise texture. Maybe position is the only thing a geonodes instance carries at this point? not sure

    Hello, I loved your video! It was really helpful. I have a problem though; I scattered a bunch of instances with the geometry nodes on an object that I then parented to an armature, and the object itself moves with the bones, but the instances are left in place unless I move the armature as an object and not in pose mode. Did I do something wrong or is there an additional step I need to do to get the instances to move with the rig? Thanks!

    Right after you create the group and start removing the unneeded items from the input, in current Blender I don't have "Instance" like you (one of the three you left), and it immediately breaks everything. Any idea how to work around this?

    • @NelsonCWoodstock
      @NelsonCWoodstock 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      newer Blender eliminates the input if you instance onto itself. you need to create the node group first so Points and Instance show up. then tab out, then plug the nodes in like the video shows.
