camrebori I love the song and think it is one of the best on the album but I have to admit, his vocals don't fit too well on top of the instrumental most of the time
I'm salty because hes giving exciting musicians shit because he doesn't understand the music. We should encourage young people like Yung Lean because otherwise everything would be mainstream sounding exactly the same. Things are getting really boring.
Also bummed that he didn't talk about this. Agony stands out so well from the other tracks, and paired with Yellowman it closes off the album beautifully.
I agree Melon, an okay record. But I can't agree with your point that "this is the perfect soundtrack for a movie about eating your neighbour dogs ass". Our opinions differ here.
I’m not personally a fan but I really liked the track lean’s vocals felt appropriate and suited the amazing instrumental all around great song and I’m not even in to sad music like that either lol
Didn't really fw the album, but went to his tour anyway and he blew my mind. Suddenly this album made sense to me, I feel it's underappreciated even half a year after the concert.
FiFiFilth Is he good live? I personally really like his music, and I’ve been wanting to go, but I don’t know anyone who has gone to a concert of his to get their thoughts.
10/10. Personally love mostly all Lean songs, but the ones on this album, they changed my life man. Silver Arrows in particular felt like it was tailor made to help me get out of my depression. In the end everyone has their favorite artists and tastes in music, but I’m just glad that I got into Yung Lean.
Shawty imma give scores you thought I wouldn't give If pitchfork gave it 10, melon prolly gave it 6 Imma make you hurt, imma imma make you hurt Imma make you hurt, imma imma make you hurt
"Lack of enthusiasm". One of the reason he's been my fav artist for years. The enthusiasm is there but he doesn't sound like he tryhards, he sings like he doesn't give a sh and it still sounds amazing. Iceman is my fav track of the album, esp due to the enthralling melody. Fallen Demon is a happy track, how can u say it's bringing u to some demonic realm lol. I agree Push is the worst.
Was hoping you would comment more on the end of the record. The final 5 tracks all work so well with each other and I believe invoke some strong emotion paired with their interesting atmospheric soundscapes.

Why are we still here? Just to suffer? Every night, I can feel my leg… and my arm… even my fingers. The body I’ve lost… the comrades I’ve lost… won’t stop hurting… It’s like they’re all still there. You feel it, too, don’t you?
when yung lean's flow off into singing or another rhythm pattern, THAT'S what gives him the appeal to his fans. I love how he does that. fuck the rules of music or whatever the fans expect to hear.
Talk about the transition from Agony into Yellowman, the deepest despairs of a manic episode to being on the other end of it coming out knowing everything will be alright and that its just in the now that you're not okay.
i really love leandoer not because of the vocals at all or lyrics, but because of the way it makes me feel with the haziness and disorientation and sometimes satisfying sounds that he puts out
Good review Melon. Agree with most points But the fact that you introduced yourself as Thirdthony Reichtano really didnt impress me. Im feeling a Strong 2 on the introduction.
Yung Lean has so more potential than what he shows. I feel like he's just lazy in some aspects. Ginseng Strip Club and Kyoto are great song with good production but man.....his lyrics are trash like it's almost like he's not even trying or it's satire
I hope Yung Lean takes all those criticism as advice and pushes his game forward. I mean I never cared about the dude until this record, because woah it's surprisingly good.
I have nothing but respect for Anthony Fantano. He is extremely hardworking. Its amazing to think that I can see a review for any notable album made in the last ten years, however he has one Achilles heel. He always sees albums in terms of the album as a whole. Most people don't do this. Most people have albums that have songs on it that they love, and they've never even listened to the entire album! I'm guilty of that too! My point is that sometimes this causes songs that are super amazing, to be batched in and weighed down by the weakest filler songs of the album. Red Bottom Sky is good. I love Iceman and Hunting My Own Skin too. The real gem however is Agony. I love this song because it is both beautiful and improbable. It is beautiful because it is real and it is honest and it is creative. It is improbable because it is from a rapper from Sweden whose earlier work was about Nintendo cartridges and Gatorade. And I've loved every step of the way. Yung Lean, keep doing what you're doing. Anthony, keep crushing it too. But also make sure you take notice when someone does something special like this. You can easily find a bunch of kids doing covers for this song on TH-cam. Covers for a song by a Swedish rapper who fought successfully to be heard from, and made something truly great.
I sorta agree being a fan going back to when this album was first released going to concert, and multiple relistens id say the 6-7/10 rating he gave was a good rating. The songs are all great just some are less pleasing at times because of lack luster spacey lonely lyrics. Which is okay. But this album was nominated a swedish grammy so ill take that, that number is good enough!
Nothing on Agony? I think it is one of Lean's most poetic songs to date.
To this day
It's one of the saddest songs ever
Just listened to this song today, it still is.
Helps you through tough times
Always been my comfort song when I’m feeling sad
I adore you the sound of your skin
so we're just not gonna talk about how great "agony" is huh
camrebori I love the song and think it is one of the best on the album but I have to admit, his vocals don't fit too well on top of the instrumental most of the time
Or Salute/Pacman - 2 of the best songs on the whole thing :(
i thot the same thing lets talk about it here
Agony was the best track along with red bottom sky
Yellowman is sick
I think the "lack of enthusiasm" is part of what he does, theres a reason why hes not a hyper musician...
hint: sadboys
"kind of experimental"? lol you're a joke. Its OBVIOUS thats what hes doing here
why u salty over someone else's opinion man?
schnooleheletteletto i don’t get how this kid is anything better than Nav, i think they’re both shit
schnooleheletteletto Cus leandoer is a lean-doer lol
I'm salty because hes giving exciting musicians shit because he doesn't understand the music. We should encourage young people like Yung Lean because otherwise everything would be mainstream sounding exactly the same. Things are getting really boring.
Anthony finally admits that he thinks yung lean is artistically equivalent to kanye west
I mean, lean is better than Kanye but isn't just mature enough.
Anyway we know.
noble dumb massive yung lean fan but that’s a bad take
dont you fucking dare you dumb ass sadboi
noble dumb the delusion is just too much on this comment
Lean isn't anywhere near Kanye artistically.
A 6/10 for yung lean is like strong 10 tbh
Tomas Ferreira facts
cause his potential is so high lol
Tomas Ferreira bruh Ecco2k jus got a 7 tho
HOW can u do a stranger review and not properly mention the godly yellowman and agony you melon
Yellowman was my favorite as well.
Also bummed that he didn't talk about this. Agony stands out so well from the other tracks, and paired with Yellowman it closes off the album beautifully.
Corey Denault I agree agony was my first really set the course for this album.
Silver arrows is hands down best track on this
Yellowman deserves an award imo
Wait...so his actual middle name at birth was Leandoer?
Yeah I know. I still can't wrap my mind around it years later lol
yea, but hes swedish so leandoer is pronounced differently
yeah its not pronounced the way Anthony said it
Yes. Hes his family is Dutch.
schnooleheletteletto he's Swedish
Wish you talked more about Agony
literally my favourite song hes ever put out
Vincent Chauvet MINE TOO
Same it's too good
that one too
Paloma Alcantar agony makes my brain cry
I agree Melon, an okay record. But I can't agree with your point that "this is the perfect soundtrack for a movie about eating your neighbour dogs ass". Our opinions differ here.
i'm fuckin crinneeeeee
mrmow jorisin really? I thought it was spot on
Jj
Lmfaoo
Lmfao
you barely mentioned agony COME ONNN
lol yea feels like he just gave reasons to give it a mediocre score and called it a day
Why is that nigga at the back so afraid of this album?
King Crimson, really good band!
That nigga got sampled by Kanye. He's actually looking at Anthony, he is distraught that he has to live in the house of someone who didn't love MBDTF
Mike NotPatton In The Court of The Crimson is a motherfucking classic
cuz he a 21st century schizoid man
Paulo Henrique 💯
AGONY IS PURE SAD BEAUTY IT'S SO GOOD
Yung Lean >> tlayor sifwt
*_But we all knew that already_*
hmm yes interesting Go. Away.
Water is wet
TJ.L why tf does it matter
hmm yes interesting leave
hmm yes interesting no shut up she is a queen
The fact that Agony isn’t one of your favorite tracks 🤢
It sounds so bad
Yellowman is agony but a hundred times better
@@kuirkyy L
I’m not personally a fan but I really liked the track lean’s vocals felt appropriate and suited the amazing instrumental all around great song and I’m not even in to sad music like that either lol

Alto gender was an inside job
Didn't really fw the album, but went to his tour anyway and he blew my mind. Suddenly this album made sense to me, I feel it's underappreciated even half a year after the concert.
FiFiFilth Is he good live? I personally really like his music, and I’ve been wanting to go, but I don’t know anyone who has gone to a concert of his to get their thoughts.
Ya it’s so weird the first time I listened to it I was like wtf is this but after listening to it a couple times he’s one of my favorite artists
If red bottom sky was named red flannel sky this would have been a 10
Underrated comment
'red flannel guy' wouldve made this comment a strong 10
frost god is honestly underrated
frost god whack nihhh
You right fr
Big time. Kirby is one of my fav lean tracks
Jacquizz Lemons the last 46 seconds of Kirby is so good
Frost God was one of his worst work yet
I can't believe he didn't referance the song "Agony", honestly up there with his best tracks like Leanworld, Solarflare
This guy is a genius brah he created a whole era
FANTANO GIVING LEAN A POSITIVE ALBUM SCORE, 2017 WILD
10/10. Personally love mostly all Lean songs, but the ones on this album, they changed my life man. Silver Arrows in particular felt like it was tailor made to help me get out of my depression. In the end everyone has their favorite artists and tastes in music, but I’m just glad that I got into Yung Lean.

bitchfork bases most of their reviews based on how many times blm and womens rights are mentioned on the album

Fallen Demon is a happy track, how can u say it's bringing u to some demonic realm lol.
I agree Push is the worst.
You can easily tell Anthony doesnt really understand most of the meaning and story behind leans lyrics, melody or vocals
Red Bottom Sky is legit beautiful and really opened my eyes to what he's capable of.
Tbh red bottom sky not only opened my eyes on that but really opened my eyes on life lmao
Was hoping you would comment more on the end of the record. The final 5 tracks all work so well with each other and I believe invoke some strong emotion paired with their interesting atmospheric soundscapes.

I absolutely love this album
I’d agree with 6/10, but if I could get an album of just the instrumentals, easy 9/10
Sherman and Whitearmor did some of the instrumentals on this track but Gud executive produced it
christian antonacci man yung gud's the shit, i cant imagine yung lean without him
Will East Good!
its about the COLLECTIVE
As with pretty much all lean tracks.
anthony alt-right-tano here, the internet's most demonetized music nerd
But when are you gonna review Trap Ketchum tho?
KingCorphish it’s not that good
KingCorphish the fuck?
Never he said it is good on twitter tho

Pac Man is pretty slept on, I love listening to that track high.
Agony is one of, if not the greatest human creation I've ever discovered.
I LIKED YELLOWMAN THE MOST, THIS ALBUM WAS PRETTY GOOD
FIRST CHESTER NOW LIL PEEP. YOU'VE DONE IT AGAIN FANTANO.
This album was the best listen of the year totally blew me away how good it was. Didnt expect it
Agony is perfect. It reminds me of work by Daniel Johnston, who he said he admires
Do a legit review of unknown Death 2002
I always imagined melon living in a cozy hipster- bungalow somewhere in the woods of michigan or something...
Review the last chapter of *Naruto*
lmaoooo
How does no one ever talk about Yellowman? One of the most beautiful build ups and transition in a song, in my opinion.
He has that in his fav songs off the album
so he didn’t mention yellow man?
It’s in his fav tracks tho
hmmm, today i will ignore yellowman. *ignores yellowman* *sets fire to an orphanage*
BRING BACK THE HANDWRITTEN TITLES BACK MELON!!!
Why the fuck is there almost no mention of how good agony was
When Starz review?
Unknown Death 2002 is a top 3 release of the decade. But I'm glad Lean's detractors are finally starting to get it with this album
YOU GAVE DAMN A 7 BUT YUNG LEAN A 10???????
more drum videos or riot
how did he spend a whole 7 minutes talking about the album and like 30 seconds talking about agony...it's like my favorite yung lean song now
Best intro since the pleistocene
You only mention a lyric from agony smh, it was very amazing and stood out imo
Omg. a whole 6/10? Colour me surprised.
I wish you would've spoken more on Yellowman and how it contrasts with the singles yet achieves similar motifs
nice review
Rip lil peep
when yung lean's flow off into singing or another rhythm pattern, THAT'S what gives him the appeal to his fans. I love how he does that. fuck the rules of music or whatever the fans expect to hear.
Pump and lean gettin good reviews, melon on some real shit lately
Talk about the transition from Agony into Yellowman, the deepest despairs of a manic episode to being on the other end of it coming out knowing everything will be alright and that its just in the now that you're not okay.
Yung Lean 6/10
DAMN. 7/10
Yung Lean = As good as Kendrick confirmed
i really love leandoer not because of the vocals at all or lyrics, but because of the way it makes me feel with the haziness and disorientation and sometimes satisfying sounds that he puts out
What do u mean Fallen Demon could’ve used a hook?? It has one of leans best hooks!
you played it very well with the KC vinyl, Tony
On his wiki 'melon' is listed as an aka
everyone is talking bout how great 'Agony' is while I loved 'Muddy Sea' the most, and I think the outro is fuckin great
I think its more of a 7 than a 6
Good review Melon.
I think thats what he's going for...the uncertainty of whether or not its satire
hoover and volt are great.
As he said in the song Gotham City: I ain't never tried hard, It's hard for me to try
Cause I ain't like trying, fuck the world come tell me lies.
Hes honestly a better lyricist when writing in swedish.
Tjenixen kolla in hand rockband död mark
I hope Yung Lean takes all those criticism as advice and pushes his game forward. I mean I never cared about the dude until this record, because woah it's surprisingly good.
I did love this album I would give it an 8
I have nothing but respect for Anthony Fantano. He is extremely hardworking. You can easily find a bunch of kids doing covers for this song on TH-cam. Covers for a song by a Swedish rapper who fought successfully to be heard from, and made something truly great.
Why is the album behind you screaming this is album abuse
Sang Bang that album has schizophrenia
kanye west knows
I sorta agree being a fan going back to when this album was first released going to concert, and multiple relistens id say the 6-7/10 rating he gave was a good rating. The songs are all great just some are less pleasing at times because of lack luster spacey lonely lyrics. Which is okay. But this album was nominated a swedish grammy so ill take that, that number is good enough!
he just completely left out yellowman
How can he not mention Muddy Sea? Its a beautiful song by Leandoer
Big facts
10/10 REVIEW IT AGAIN!
algorithm bringing me back to this video, damn
MÉLON do *00s Disney show* OSTs best to worst
5 projects in. it's not a "lack of enthusiasm" it's a part of his style
How do u feel about lil peeps od
You know I gotta watch when I peep that King Crimson hiding in the top shelf
