I just saw Jesse again last month in Truro, Massachusetts of all places. FIFTY years after the first time! My band opened for the Youngbloods at a show in Washington, DC in 1967. I saw him again in 1974--this time Leo Kottke opened for him, two of my favorites in one long fabulous show in Philadelphia. I thought he had retired to grow Kona coffee on the Big Island, but there I was on vacation on Cape Cod and right there in Truro, where I was staying, was 75 year old Jesse Colin Young and his new band, good as ever. What a fabulous vacation bonus!
I was at this concert at Winterland in San Francisco on a Methodist youth group trip. Alice Stuart and Snake opened, then Jesse, and finally New Riders of the Purple Sage. We sat up near the front to the right of the stage. Memorable event. Concerts were so much fun back in the 70's.
Jesse's voice is just so great, and so is the music he writes. The body of his work is impressive as any writer and singer from this wonderful era, the late 60's, early 70's. He still tours, and there is no drop-off in his singing. A troubador like no other!
Hey Folk & Country Music Vault Folks, Thank you for posting this concert footage of Jesse Colin Young and his great band! He was definitely one of my faves at that time! Unless, those of us, who appreciate this Music, bring it back, which is probably not likely, there won't be MUSIC like this again! So glad we still have quality recordings out there from fans! This is the music that influenced me to be a musician and thank God, it still does!!
my favorite r and b and jazz band, the young bloods best full concert I fully enjoyed and was so happy to have found on You Tube,. Wow I sure am glad those 70s' California high loving bands came together to keep us young blood brothers and sisters singing and dancing to these groovy high love songs, THX Jesse and all you brothers in the band. And Long May you Run. Travel with God
I think my musican husband married me for my album collection 40 yrs ago! I had all of Jesse's works and several others. He has always been one of my favorites with his combination of music styles.

Still listening and loving your music! My favorite concert was a little one in Auburn Ca. We sat on the grass around the stage all day, had a great time, sunburn and all!

Thanks so much! Love Jim Rothermel's playing. I spent hours practicing flute to two of your albums from around this time. Great to hear again.
I did too! Could never come close to keeping up with Jim's pure magic - but always worth striving for!
