Tori is indeed a talented singer. However, I understand the concern that her voice bears a striking resemblance to Karen’s. This similarity might be unintentional, as it could just be the natural tone of Tori’s voice. It’s unlikely that Tori is merely imitating Karen as if she were performing in a nightclub. I believe that Tori’s singing style is authentic and unique to her. It’s possible that Tori was influenced by Karen’s style and decided to study it. After all, every singer and vocal student needs a mentor or a role model. Tori might have spent years studying Karen’s style and tone, which is a common practice among vocal students.
Just like art students who spend their days studying art, learning techniques, visiting art museums, and studying fine arts before they can pick up a brush, vocal students also study the work of great singers. Karen serves as an excellent reference guide for many.
Learning to sing involves mastering various techniques, such as singing on vowels. Tori’s talent and skills could be applied to other styles of singing as well. To become a great singer, one must study the vocals of the great ones. So, in essence, Tori’s approach to learning and improving her singing is quite common and effective.

she really does.. I was surprised when I first heard her, so for a min, I thought it was Karen, but then I paid more attention & saw it is Tori .. she's really good & self taught,,

Hi Mr. Phats, I totally agree with your summation. Tori is an amazingly accurate and stylistic singer. People often get lost in her similar tone to Kacie and dismiss her. Most are snooty and go off in a huff. Then there are the perceptive ones who break down and cry. They realize, like I did last October, that this young woman can do justice to real songs. Quality songs. No need for technology to make her sound “better.” She is so accurate that she’s picked up a troll who keeps accusing her of pitch correcting. All he’s actually doing is proving how accurate she actually is, naturally. She’s self taught for singing. I believe she did learn from the greatest, Karen. She knew her tone was close, so learn from the best.
I’ve picked up on when she adds Karenisms in Carpenters covers as it completes what I call the homage to Karen. When she doesn’t, it’s pure Tori. Georgia On my Mind and Something To Believe In are prime examples of pure Tori. Something In Your Eyes (from the 55th) is a blend. When she did a short on Eyes years ago, it was pure homage to Karen and you can hear the difference.

very True, I heard some of Tori's singing ;Tori does have good skill.. but I am sure some of the nay Sayers think she's some kind of novelty act in some night club.. The dude that made this video about her is an idiot.. he can't grasp any of this..
I don't think he's a student of music . Even in music school we spend tons of hours studying the style of vocalists ,& then we move on to build our own style... in a few more Years Tori will do just that, so she'll go into the studio & put out a whole record..
case in point I like the vocal style of someone named Bob Stewart he covers all the classics from Frank Sinatra to many others of that era.. he has a you tube channel not sure if he's still active maybe he died a few years ago, but his renditions & how he controls his vocals is good..
but some people can't grasp any of this.. singing is a life long thing..
I think in summary Tori does have talent & can pull it off
@@Mr.PhatsVarietyVibesShow totally agree. Have you seen her originals/Cover that were offered to and arranged for her? Christmas Again, Something To Believe In and Georgia On My Mind (sounds nothing like Ray!) They are all her and yet people say you sound like Karen. No Karenisms, just her own voice. At the 55th she covered Something In Your Eyes. Karen never got to sing it. Tori did a short a few years ago and got to do the full song at the church. Chilling.
@@jbs256 yeah, i had heard Tori's range of singing & a few other video clips of her.. she seems to have a good handle on it..
singing is just very hard to master... i give props to anyone that can do it..
@@Mr.PhatsVarietyVibesShow boy howdy! I can’t sing a lick, I boo at myself in the shower! She’s self taught. Learns by ear, hence the way she covers some artists, I believe. Guitar and drum lessons, piano self taught. Plays by ear. Then there’s the engineering. I’m impressed as you can tell. Blessed to have met her and dad at the 55th and to see her 2nd live event.
wait you can't sing a lick ? hmm you never thought about taking lessons? I can't really sing either .. I am just role playing & pretending to be a rock star.. I'm role playing as a dude that thinks he can sing & has talent.. I have a bunch of dumb songs it's like my dumb hobby... . Really having singing skills is hard to develop I wish I could really sing for real & go in tour..
