Majulah Singapura is the national anthem of Singapore. Composed by Zubir Said in 1958 as a theme song for official functions of the City Council of Singapore, the song was selected in 1959 as the island's anthem when it attained self-government.

Menyedihkan rakyat Singapura sendiri tak hapal lagu nasional negaranya... Kalau bahasa Melayu ditetapkan undang2 singapura sebagai bahasa nasional, kenapa rakyatnya hanya etnis Melayu yg boleh bahasa Melayu? Kenapa disekolah2 tak diajarkan bahasa nasional mereka?

True that it's quite easy to learn but being a chinese person it's still quite a challenge personally for me. And after graduating for more than 10 over years and not listening to the song as often, we tend to forget some of it..
I think cause they actually don't use it much anymore when I went there I tried using Bahasa none was able to understand so my parents had to speak a bit of Mandarin or broken english (I spoke proper English and they don't understand (or maybe I didn't))
Yo don’t say Malay is easy. There’s also a lot of dialects in Malay as well I’m from Malaysia speak the language fluently and still am learning a lot. Please stop saying it’s easy all language can be learnt and at same difficulty.

That is why government should emphasize and preserve as well as promote national language more! In additional bilingual is outdated already as the wise ones will be beyond trilingual !

How come Singapore has Bahasa Malaysia as national anthem's language instead of using Chinese?
Most likely due to it's history :)
If chinese becoming the language for singapore national anthem, then what's the different of singapore compared with china and taiwan? Singapore built as a multiracial nation, in the land that historically settled by Malays and other indigenous communities for centuries. So, it's a kind of respect and preserving the past of the nation by composing the national anthem in bahasa melayu.
