Sample Lecture Series: Who should we invest in? Skip the Dishes or Dominos Pizza with Phil Davidson

We are going to look at the environment in which food services function to determine if we should invest in Skip the Dishes or Dominos Pizza. We will use two analytical frameworks that we typically address in business strategy classes, PEST and Porter’s Five Forces, to analyze the broad environmental trends and narrow down to the industries in which these two firms operate. This is not a finance class, so although our objective is to determine which company would make a better investment for us, we’re really looking at broader topics. By doing so, if a subsequent financial investigation said that one or both firms were bad choices, we would still have an idea about what “type” of food service business we should pursue.
