- Anzu is shocked by the amount she's been given by her new parents as an allowance and has no idea how to spend it. Hitomi takes her around the town but Anzu can't find anything she really wants. They settle on getting a gift for her parents, but Sabu appears with an unwelcome suggestion.

If you had power in this setting it would make way more sense to give her parents well paying jobs instead (if they are as kind as she seems to think here).

JK :P Seriously now. Just because she has no need for material things beyond basic sustenance doesn't mean she doesn't want anything. There are things in this world money can't buy: Love, friendship, trust, affection, a genuine connection to another person. Presents are just means of conveying those things with money, but there are many other things you can do to show that you care about someone. A hug is a great gift you can give to someone without any special occasion, for example. But beyond that, you can try and find clues as to what that person likes, what their hobbies are, what their dreams for the future are. Once you put in the effort to look into it, the present simply becomes a representation of that effort. It doesn't matter if they already have something similar, or if you got them precisely the right thing, or even if they really like it or not. The gift you are really giving them is the acknowledgment that you care about them and you think about them. And it especially doesn't matter how much you spend on it. The amount of money spent on a gift only represents the state of your bank account, but the thought that went into choosing the gift represents your connection to that person, and how thankful you are for having them in your life. And this is the real present: the "you" in a box that is addressed only to them.

One year late but It's a thing of auto accomplishment and not get everything handed to her unlike Hina who gets everything she wants without effort.

This anime is a mess. The main character is boring and unlikable as hell, the original premise is dropped after one episode and the main plot is all over the place ... but the subplots of Anzu and Hitomi make it worth the watch.

Ye hina is so boring. Hitomi and anzu is what kept me from coming back. I would love for hina to be more considerate of nitta, but knowing how she forced herself into his life is also a big red flag..but i guess its part of the joke. But having said that, anzu is top tier wholesome so having hina on the side just makes her shine more
