    The reason Gus walked away from the car after Jesse told him about Brock being poisoned was he knew HE didn't do it, so someone else did, so he was being brought into the open by someone else's plan. So he switched up his travel method to be safe.

      Right. He knew Walt wouldn't just stay away without *some* retaliation, and for all he knew the DEA (with Walt's brother in-law in charge) might have still tried to put something in his car again.

      "Gus had standards" LMAO yeah he has standards, that's why he approved of Tomas working for his dealers, and then ordered Tomas' death to lure out Jesse, knowing that his emotions would cause him to confront the dealers and get himself killed.
      Walt noticed Gus' strategy in Full Measure and insinuated that Gus was the one who orchestrated Tomas' death. This was a parallel to before, when Walt figured out that Gus sent the twins after Hank, because he wanted a fallout between the American and Mexican governments, which eventually led to the death of Juan Bolsa.
      It was an elaborate strategy, and Walt is never far behind Gus' intellect. Tomas was killed because of Gus.

    The reason Gus walked out after the explosion and adjusted his tie is because those were the last of the neurons in his brain firing off. He is a business man, so the constant motion of fixing his tie was all that remained as he slowly died.
    I believe this was foreshadowed when Walt had dinner at Gus' house. Gus mentions that the fish stew instantly reminds him of his childhood, and then Walt speaks about the hippocampus being tied to memories in your brain and the specific combination of ingredients triggered that reaction.

      I think they are all watching from the audience perspective and are aware that it's a show and therefore carries the lack of severity of a piece of entertainment on screen. • @djsosonut
      @djsosonut 4 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      I think it's mainly cause the show is built around Walt. He's the main protag. The in for the audience. And the show keeps managing to get you to align yourself with him, even has his actions and motives become murkier and murkier. So you're vicariously feeling Walter's satisfaction and relief more than Sylar's rising fear of her husband and what he's actually capable of.
      The scene my play differently if we were with Sylar. Stressing with her family. They banter back and forth. Before the news comes on. And watching them all, but especially Sylar, stand i shock as the news sets in. Then she calls her husband cause she's worried about him. And he says that. And instead of going back to Walter, we linger on her. I think more people would empathize with her then. But maybe not. Sylar gets a lot of hate.

    So remember in the beginning of the episode, when he was spinning the gun?
    The first spin, it points to him: Kill himself or give himself over to Gus. The death of Walter White.
    The second spin, it points to him: Turn himself in to the DEA, and provide the evidence needed to take down Gus and his empire. The death of Heisenberg.
    The third spin, it points to the flower: The inspiration to turn Jesse against Gus, and to save his family. His only shot at survival.
    When it comes down to it, Walter didn't choose to poison Brock in a vacuum. He has lived for the past few weeks or months in complete existential terror of Gus for himself and for his family,, culminating in Gus dragging him out into the desert with the promise of "I will kill Hank. If you do anything to cross me, then I will kill your family." He tried to take his family and run, and he gave Hank what warning he could, but in the end he was trapped, and he had a mental break as a result.
    Poisoning a child should never be done, of course, but that is a rational stance. Walter was not rational, and he has not been rational for the entire season. He used a poison that kids commonly ingest, because when it came down to it, in his mind it was "My children die, or this child gets sick", and he needed someone in the know on his side to have any shot at success. Jesse was his only option.
    It should be noted that if you actually look up the flower and it's symptoms, it is stated that "symptoms can last for one to three days and that a hospital stay may be required, but that death is unlikely". The whole "ricin" scare dramatically amped the expectations of the truth of Brock's situation, in comparison to what Lily of the Valley berries actually do.
    I am not making this argument to say that Walter is the good guy, or that he should have poisoned Brock, I am merely pointing out where his head was at, and what he actually did, because many people overlook Walter's mindset in this episode, and to Walter's character as a whole. We, as the audience, tend to insert ourselves into these characters shoes without properly taking in just what these characters are going through, and as a result some people develop oversimplified views of Walter White, and ignore just how complex his character really is.

    Congratulations! You are the first reactors to recognise and acknowledge that Walt (being a bona fide genius chemist)would have certainly known what would be a non-lethal dose to administer. Every other reactors think Walt wanted to kill Brock.
    Obviously, it's extremely wrong what he did and still carried some risk. But to think that the guy who can calculate how to create the purest crystal meth ever made, wouldn't know the correct dosage of a very basic toxin is daft.
    But Walt couldn't escape after their get away money was gifted away due to adulterer Skylar and her tax fraudster lover's shenanighans. And with Gus making it crystal clear Walt could never contact Jesse ever again, meant Walt needed to concoct some way to get his estranged partner in crime Jesse back on his side and to turn against Gus (who had manipulated and coerced Jesse to join him).
    How Walt managed to do that was pretty insidious no doubt, but at least in doing so, he managed to save his families lives and also freed Jesse from being trapped under Gus' control.

      Oh please,he's a chemist,not a doctor.
      What if brock had an allergic reaction to the poison or any other medical condition that would escalate things? What if no one was there to rush him to the hospital? What if they couldn't get him medical care in time? How did walt account that those instances?

    Guys that wasn't a metal detector. I forget it's name, but what it does is detect electronic bugs (tiny electronic sound retrievers). Remember, that Gus knows Hector just went to the DEA offices. Gus figured Hector probably ratted him or somebody else out, which means the DEA may have planted bugs in his room.

    I loved your geek out reaction moment with your discovery revealing Walter poisoned Brock.
    There is no doubt Gus would have killed Hank, Skyler, Walt Jr., and Holly. However, Gus made two huge mistakes. 1) His pride - he had to be the one to kill Hector. 2) Gus pushed Walt into a corner. Push Walt into a corner and you then have to deal with Heisenberg.

    • @iliboxic7586
      @iliboxic7586 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Cory Whitley The brothers doing evil things for sure wasn't a problem for Gus. Gus just hated it when his business partners acted unnecessarily showy and caused danger for his secrets. and by the way he hated all Salamancas for other reasons.

    • @iliboxic7586
      @iliboxic7586 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Cory Whitley Gus was offended by Walt intriguing against him because of Hank and nothing else. That's why Gus literally threatend the lifes of Walt's whole family. Gus was also smart enough to know what his guys would do after he said "No more kids." Gus was calculated and patient but he wasn't a better person than Walt.
