    It's great that these videos live on! It made it super easy to figure out how exactly to charge the battery. The jeep is old. The battery is old. It may not take the charge. This video had me succeed in giving it a go. Grandson is thrilled so far.

    Just wanted to thank you for your detailed breakdown of the 12-volt battery/charger. I had searched several listings to determine the appropriate charger to purchase for my 12-volt battery and I was not sure the charger would fit my battery because it appeared much smaller than the outlet on the battery. You very clearly answered all my questions. Thank you!

    Is there not a indicator light on the battery or charger itself to know if it is charging or fully charged for this 12v battery?

    • @HighTechBatterySolutionsInc
      @HighTechBatterySolutionsInc  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only indicator light would be on the charger and it depends on what model of charger you get/have. The newer style standard 12 volt chargers no longer have the LED indicator light on them. The only version that power wheels left the led charge indicator on is the 12V quick charger series.

    What voltage should you see on the battery when it is fully charged?

  • @jayc3110
    @jayc3110 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you for your useful videos I have a power wheels battery, which reads only nine volts. The fast charger will not charge it. The battery has not been charged for a couple of years! I wonder if it would be useful to pry open the top cover and check the distilled water levels? These batteries seem to have Filler caps. If the water level is low, do you think, filling distilled water to the correct level could revive this battery. Thank you and best wishes

    • @HighTechBatterySolutionsInc
      @HighTechBatterySolutionsInc  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I unfortunately do not have any experience trying to add distilled water to bring the battery back. These are AGM series batteries so they will look dry when you take a look at the cells as the electrolyte is absorbed into the glass mat plates of the battery - so adding water may not bring it back to life.

    • @jayc3110
      @jayc3110 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HighTechBatterySolutionsInc thank you for your response. I appreciate it. I did not know these were AGM batteries. I don't understand why they have conventional looking caps similar to lead acid batteries. Thanks again and best wishes

      Its been a while since I have seen one of those, but I believe the charger light should light upright when you plug it into the wall regardless if it's not connected to a battery. If you're not seeing that light then I think you you're looking at a bad charger issue.

    How can I connect a charger to the battery if the charger connector is damaged and I can't get replacement due to my location(Africa)?I have a hurricane jeep fisher price for my kids but the charger connector got damaged.

    • @HighTechBatterySolutionsInc
      @HighTechBatterySolutionsInc  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will be tough to charge this battery without that plug intact on your charge. The only other alternative would be to somehow connect the charger to the two visible prongs inside the plug of the battery itself. You would either need small battery clamps to do this or fabricate some sort of battery clamp by cutting off the plug on your old charger (assuming it still functions).

      @@HighTechBatterySolutionsInc Wow,thanks for the brilliant response.Yes I did cut the plug of the battery charger and connect it with two clamps but i finding it difficult for the clamps to fit in tiny space where the two small visible prongs are.Can I use the big positive and negative prongs that are very visible?I am wondering whether the two visible prongs can work also.Additionally,how do I know thee battery is charging ?The light on the battery charger is green and my tester reading indicates that the charger is sending out 8amps. Please advice.

    • @HighTechBatterySolutionsInc
      @HighTechBatterySolutionsInc  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@josephkbestman5846 Yes, you can use the bigger positive and negative prongs that are visible on the battery to charge it. • @HighTechBatterySolutionsInc
      @HighTechBatterySolutionsInc  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      The new style charger will not necessarily get warm to indicate that it is charging correctly. If you want to be 100% sure if the charger is working correctly the best thing to do would be to get a voltage meter and test the voltage coming out of the charger when its plugged into the wall. The new style chargers will produce around 14.4 volts.

    • @HighTechBatterySolutionsInc
      @HighTechBatterySolutionsInc  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only new charger that Powe-Wheels sells with the indication light these days is the 12V quick charger. If you have the standard unit without the indication light then your only option is to time the charger. If the battery is completely discharged then it will take between 8 to 10 hours to fully recharge. If the battery is only run half way down then you can cut the charge time in half to 4 to 5 hours.

    Are the chargers float chargers? The charger does not have an indicator light on it to show the status of the charge (like if its fully charged/charging/etc). How do I know when its fully charged? Can I overcharge it (and destroy the battery) with this charger?

    • @HighTechBatterySolutionsInc
      @HighTechBatterySolutionsInc  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      The typical re-charge time for this style battery is 8 to 10 hours. Unfortunately PowerWheels no longer installs a charge indicator light on the charger, so it would be a good idea to keep track of when the battery is on charge. This charger is not an automatic shut off type, so if you did leave it hooked up to the battery for an indefinite amount of time you will damage the battery.

      High-Tech Battery Solutions, Inc Is there a method to know if the battery is damaged besides the obvious of it not working? Does it matter how LOW the voltage goes down in the battery when a charge is started? How long will a typical good battery last just sitting on the shelf before needing a recharge?

  • @riverbenddrummer

    I bought a new charger from Walmart and this one has a led light on it and it says red solid light charging and a flashing green light for ready for use and a solid green light for fully charged also there is a flashing red light for incorrect battery or a bad battery

      Sounds like you have purchased the 12V Quick Charger which is a step up from the OEM charger that typically comes with the Power Wheels toys brand new. The 12V quick charger is able to recharge the battery in about half the time if not a little faster than the OEM unit.

      A standard 12 volt lead acid battery will work in the toy, but do not expect a long service life out of the battery. Motorcycle batteries are made with very thin lead plates designed to produce maximum starting power, versus deep cycle batteries which have thick lead plating designed to withstand being charged up and drained consistently without damaging the battery. The thin plate style in motorcycle batteries will not hold up like a deep cycle -

      If the charger is giving you a solid green LED then one of two things can be happening. Either the battery is already fully charged and ready to go, or the battery voltage is so low that the charger is not able to detect the battery. Have you tried the battery in toy yet?
