    The logo at the bottom of the barrel reminds me of a Lamy. Looks like more pen companies will be wanting to contact you because you are giving recommendations regarding build quality. It would be great if people started to see the DoodleBud seal on fountain pen boxes to show that the merchandise has passed. Thank you for your video presentation. Take care.

    1. So beautiful. Minimalism for the win.
    2. Don't other magnetic caps auto-align perfectly? Perfection - that's all I ask.
    3. For me personally my life is better since I gave away my titanium-nibbed pen.
    4. Thanks for the show.

      For the magnetic alignment it all depends on how setup the magnets. You can have an orientation to them or just have them without an orientation. I haven't been much of a Ti nib fan before, but this smaller #5 size one I prefer over my #6 ones.... go figure😁

    • @ichirofakename

      @@Doodlebud interesting, i guess the smaller is easier to control.

      @@ichirofakename it's no that so much, it just has a different feel which I seem to like more. I think it's a bit softer. The #5 nib profile is a bit different than the #6.

    Picked up a FC Hexo about a month ago and love it for a work pen. really smooth and writes every time, but was a bit too wet. I kept finding drops of ink when i would lightly tap it after writing. Got a black forest XL to replace it and eyedropped that since it had an already installed o ring, fine threads and i had some thick petroleum jelly to seal it.

    As a physicist, I appreciate you pointing out the difference between mass and weight. Weight is a force (caused by the acceleration of gravity); mass is a property of matter. The Imperial unit of mass is the slug; the Imperial unit of weight is the pound. The metric unit of mass is the gram; the metric unit of weight is the newton. Therefore, slugs and grams can be accurately converted, and pounds an newtons can be accurately converted. The common conversion used between pounds and grams only works on the surface of the earth...
    FYI: since you were using a scale rather than a balance, you were actually measuring weight (which was then being converted to mass; since F=MA, and the acceleration of gravity is constant on earth). If you were to take that pen and scale to the surface of the moon, you would get a different reading (even though the mass of the pen remains constant, regardless of location in the universe). To truly measure mass, you would need a balance. As a mechanical engineer, I'm sure you know all this, but I understand trying to explain these nuances is beyond the scope of this video; so I've made a (probably) futile attempt here in the comments to explain the nuance.

    • @Doodlebud
      @Doodlebud  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah there's the surface level to talk about but then you can go very deep. At the NIST rooms have the exact gravity measured to calibrate measurements made at those specific locations. When you're at that level, the standard "constant" for gravity isn't even good enough 😂. We made a laser measurement device that the NIST ended up certifying and using to make measurements. When you make measurement devices and the NIST ends up measure stuff with your decive, it's like winning a Nobel prize 🥇

    • @danielklopp7007
      @danielklopp7007 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Doodlebud I worked for a company that makes vacuum measurement instruments; NIST used those instruments as their "standard". The instruments were in all the particle accelerators in the United States (and most of the particle accelerators in the world)... so I know exactly what you're referring to when you mention a Nobel prize.

    So, with having to align and assemble, and possibly having to reallign the nib, it looks like we have a kit pen. Fun lol.
    Have you thrown it in a bag and used it on the go? Is the magnet strong enough to withstand being rattled around without the cap coming off?
    Happy Holidays. Hope you have a great day.

    • @Doodlebud
      @Doodlebud  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I do keep it in a pen case so haven't tossed it in a bag on its own. But haven't had any issues with the cap staying secure. But might be different if its a rough & tumble pen that gets tossed around without a case or sleeve

Thanks for the review...I like the heft and feel of this pen and it seems reasonably well made. I have a Hongdian N 23. It's reasonably cheap. What bothers me extremely is that the cap requires me to tighten it more than I think is safe for it to stop wobbling (There's very little movement, but it's annoying nonetheless). I would like to know if this is normal among pens with this type of seal.

    Thanks, Doodlebud, for letting us see the flaws in the design and the execution. As to titanium nibs: unlike steel, no rust. More affordable than gold. What do you see as the advantages/disadvantages of titanium over other materials?

    • @Doodlebud
      @Doodlebud  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Steel nibs are stainless steel so rusting isn't an issue. Titanium has a unique feel to it and is typically a bit more bouncy.

  • @paulmchugh1430

    The price is reasonable. But since the cap does not post, the pen is a bit short. Ok for short writing but for longer sessions it will not so good for me.

  • @korax67
    @korax67 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    I see only problems with this pen ...
    -the alignment of the nib and body
    -the alignment of the magnetic cap
    -the case of the nib .... (Bock should pay more attention to their QC, especially yo their titanium nibs that aren't exactly cheap...)
    In europe 🇪🇺 this pen is sold for 87€. I can get a Namisu or a TWSBI for the same price without any of these issues...
