@John Mcwilliams Hi John thank you so much for the message. I do have a spare loksound and speaker and see how I go. I have also purchased the sound from DCC sound I will upload it when I install. I haven't had a chance to run it yet. I will let you know how I go. It's very troubling to hear that the loco is noisey considering the cost of the loco. How is your's running now?
Hi George, mine is running very well now ,it has a little noise ,but it is a very nice loco. The loco has always ran well, at low speeds it is very good. You might of got a good one ,there have been plenty on FB and TH-cam with no noise at all. Good luck with your sound install and I hope your loco turns out really good. If you have any other questions ,I will try and help if I can ,Cheers John
@@1johnmcwilliams at our railway club of the 5 in the club 1 wouldn't run because wiring was too tight so couldn't fit the plug from tender to engine without disassembling loco to pull more wiring through but it then left some wires very tight when refitting body and 2 had very noisy gear trains in the mechanism and the last 2 locked up with in a couple of metres and are going back to Ixion via the stores they were bought from. glad yours runs okay now though. I don't think the production models are as good quality as the preproduction samples were that were shown at exhibits like diamond creek were - mechanism wise anyway.
@@mountainman0 Hopefull Ixion can fix the loco's, yes we should not have to pull new loco's apart. I am very wary buying steam loco's now, after the Eureka R Class and Ixion J Class, i am not sure if I will purchase a steam loco again.
Good video, some nice camera work! I also have one fitted with dcc and sound from dccsound, great sound project. But the mechanism in mine makes a lot of noise when running at medium speeds just wondering if yours had the same issue? In your video you are only running slowly, the problem is at higher speeds. The ultra bright lights can be improved by using the ‘dim’ function at F13, and to make more realistic colour can be painted with Tamiya X26 orange clear paint.
Hi Dean, yes mine was very noisy and when I first got it ,the mechanism was louder than the sound decoder. I got onto Ixion and they recommended lubricating the mechanism. I followed their instructions and the loco is a lot quieter now, it does still have some noise. I have adjusted the lighting on my lokprogrammer since making the video and I had already applied some clear orange to the light lenses. It is still a very good loco, it is very smooth at low speeds .Sure I had some issues with loco ,but I am very happy with it now. Thank you for watching my video ,Cheers John.
Mine didn’t get quieter after lubrication and further run in and went back to Ixion. It was replaced and the new one is very quiet. Ixion have had a few noisy ones and I understand that they suspect there was a batch of faulty motors, which cause an imbalance although they run quite well. Ixion are using my original one to try to isolate the issue.
Nice video John. I'm considering getting one proberly going to wait until Ixion do another run of the J classes as there are other locos i want to get before that. As for the noise that's not good! I don't think that we should be having to pull apart a $600 model from day one. But still a very good product from Ixion.- Nicholas.
Hi Nicholas, thank you for your nice comments. Still a few things to fix , the lights need more adjustment, i need to remove the coal shoveling sound , as it is an oil burner. Cheers John.
Hi John thanks for the video., the loco looks and sounds great,. Did you install the sound decoder? if so, any pointers you are willing to share/ best regards George
Hi George, this time I bought the loco with the sound already installed by mike from DCC SOUND. I don't think it would be very difficult as the decoder and speaker are in the tender. It is a 21pin decoder and DCC SOUND has manufactured speakers to fit the locomotive. If you don't feel confident there are shops that will fit the sound for you. Is your model noisy? Thanks for watching my video ,cheers John.
Would love to see a video showing an overview of the entire layout and trackplan
I will try and do a layout tour after Xmas.cheers.
