It will never make sense to me how Derek wants Cool Cat and Dirty Dog to be seen as genuine icons for children's educational entertainment, yet keeps using them to promote his drug awards. He makes Dirty Dog say "Little Bitch" in this video, and has him *threaten to shoot up a school* in another one, but he still wants him to be a foil to Cool Cat in a kid's movie.
Something tells me that Derek (and Cool Cat) is like if one of Brandon Rogers’s characters came to life. I could definitely see Brandon doing a Derek Savage and Cool Cat-inspired parody.
In the deepest recesses of his delusional mind, I have to think that Derek understands where his bread is buttered. He might not understand who exactly his audience are, he might not grasp meme culture and he definitely doesn’t understand that it’s all a joke at his expense. But he gets that the majority of people on his videos and waiting for his films are late teens-early 30s with unconventional and edgy senses of humour. So he pretends that this is all for the kids, when he understands that he’s really playing for an adult audience so he can pretty much say and do what he likes because that’s what the people want. That’s the only explanation that makes sense to me. If you put him on truth serum and he still says he’s doing all this for the kids, then Im genuinely baffled at how he thinks this is appropriate in any sense or form.

As smarmy, incompetent, arrogant and lazy as Derek was and is, he did seem to actually believe Cool Cat had the power to be an actually inspiring figure for children. Dirty Dog though? I don’t know what exactly he thinks this character is… but he clearly thinks something about him. Whenever he talks about Dirty Dog, he gets incredibly giddy and excited, even by Derek standards. He focuses on him a lot for a character that’s supposed to be the villain, and he thinks that everyone shares this sentiment given how much attention he’s giving him. He seems to be under the impression that Dirty Dog is the kind of character you just love to hate because you get so invested in him but why? Why would we care about a character we’ve only seen in one special and did nothing of note except growl at the camera? Even in the lens of seething these projects through his twisted view of reality, I just cannot fathom why he thinks this. So what is it that has Derek so ensnared with this character? Why does it seem to occupy so much of his thoughts and attention in comparison to, arguably to the detriment of, the character that actually gained him his cult like following in the first place - and the one who he allegedly considers the hero of his media empire? I just do not understand it whatsoever. 😂
On a related note - and I'm sure I could look more into Derek's political lore for clarification but I haven't - but based on previous videos, I had assumed he was typically siding with anti-mask/vax sentiments. So I'm confused that his supposed villain's song is about how covid is a scam. But I also got that vibe you have where he just is over the moon delighted with dirty dog, so who knows what he's even going for.

On Covid, he’s always held publicly that it is real, you should get vaxxed and you should take precautions, even selling Cool Cat memorabilia to help promote face masks. Some people interpret the flippancy with which he talks about it, having Covid balls at prior 420 awards or the “Dirty Dog virus making Covid look like a sneeze” as him lying and being a secret antivaxxer but I don’t agree. I think he just doesn’t take things seriously at all that don’t directly affect him and doesn’t know the line between jokes and going too far. So without evidence he is just putting up a public face he thinks he needs to, I’m inclined to believe him that he does take Covid seriously, he just has no idea how to show it.
