Prefer the interior of the Zeeker. Much prefer a horizontal screen and still having a driver's display.
Got agree
I agree - I really want a proper driver display on my next car, which disqualifies quite a few models that are really good otherwise.
Zeekr X: more value for money 👍
That's the only thing I prefer about it (the driver's display, not the horizontal screen). Otherwise, I like the Volvo style though I respect what Zeekr's done and can see why people like the Zeekr.
I ordered the Volvo EX30 for me. I really love the styling of it ❤. However I have to admit that I wish that it would have a drivers display as well. Thanks for the video Kris 😊
I would consider the Smart #1 as the rear seat room is better in the Smart and you get a drivers display, leather. and much more.
I believe the #1 is on the same architecture.
Geely has 50% share in Smart. I have heard that they are responsible for the EV parts, Merc for the rest.
Its the same platform. The 3 cost almost the same, think volvo has best design and Smart the least best look. Volvo is smallest but might hold the price best.
@@alb9472 just look at the 2nd hand prices for the C30 when it was a thing. Always wanted one, but the price was always too high.
Volvo dropped the safety ball by removing the screen behind the wheel. The Zeekr is better looking IMO.
I find the Zeeker a little sickly inside and out. Very good value for money no doubt. If only the EX30 had that extra 20cm leg room in the back and the head up display like the zeeker … damn
You could also consider the Smart #1 as it is on the same platform
Hey, Kris! Great video as always... But shouldn't it read "Zeekr X" instead of "Zeekr Z" on the title? ;)
Hi Kris! What do you think about Nevs Emily GT? Will we see it on the roads someday?
Do both cars have side mirrors just like polestar 2?
I would probably select the Volvo EX30. I would like to see the boot and the SW. I saw the Smart #1 and the boot was ridicule small and I could not fit my bags to travel. I also found the Smart #1 SW a bit Kitch with the fox moving around and the central console was huge and when you sit it is a bit crampy. These two cars look better in this sense so I would need to see the boot and the SW before I would decide.
Zeeker 001 looks quite cool. Between the Zeeker X and Volvo EX30 its an easy win for the Volvo. Volvo is a legancy brand, world known for safety an on par with Audi when it comes to premium. Zeeker is a new brand so it must at least match the Volvo when it comes to price and specs, but it doesn't. In order for the Zeeker to be the 'smart choice' it must be much cheaper.
Now the only reason for buying a Zeeker X is that if you just love the design of the Zeeker.
why no one talks about the sound system? which one is better?
Yeah, I'd listen to that podcast! 😎👍
I myself prefer the styling of the EX30 to that of the Zeekr X.
More importantly is that the ZEEKR X is available sometime between September and December this year while EX30 will be available summer next year. Zeekr front display is a must I think also material, LED lightning looks better.
Volvo EX30 for sure...thanks for the review.
EX30is looking pretty sweet!
Based on all the information but without seeing or driving either (obviously) I go with the EX30. My preference is based mostly on the designs (looks) but I'm not sold on the sparse Volvo iPad interior. But I think the exterior design of the Volvo is fantastic.
I ordered the EX30. Its all about the 3,6 :)
In the UK at least its not a case of which car can you choose as the Zeekr is not available to order whereas the Volvo is.
I would opt of the EX30, even if the Zeekr X were coming to North America. My wife and I only need the two front seats and a modest amount of storage, so the shorter length of the EX30 is not an issue; for me it's actually a plus considering ease of parking and driving enjoyment (why I love our BMW i3). Design-wise, I can't agree more with Kris: beautiful vs ugly, so more points for the EX30. Most importantly, I trust the Volvo badge for build quality and safety.
I'd welcome a weekly podcast featuring Norway's dynamic duo. Here's an idea for an early episode: what will be the rollout of Volvo EVs between now and 2030. Will there be a V? What will the first EX40 be like and when will we see it? Will they standardize on two platforms? Three? When will the PHEV's be phased out? Will there be a sports car?
But you can trust tesla, GM, Ford EV.. Because it isn't made in China
And what do you thinking about Smart #1 brabus ?
@@Q-anon. Mercedes version of an EV in this price/size bracket.
It’s been a month, did you conclusion changed since ? 🎉
I like the Zeekr X the most out of Volvo EX30/Zeekr X/Smart #1. Not like I have a choice, we'll only get EX30 in NA
And the Smart #3!.
@Kris Do you think Geely would let Volve tune their own suspension and steering components? I am betting Volvo only got to do the interior design and the differences are mostly skin-deep. Afterall, a Chinese company isn't going to out-do VW for tunning MEB to have different "feel"
Absolutely Volvo tunes their own suspension. They're also writing their own software and in future Volvo BEVs, will pick Swedish vs. Chinese batteries. Geely is probably the most hands-off of their brands as there is for a parent company. People shouldn't assume things about Geely because they're Chinese. Volvo is pretty autonomous under Geely, more than they were under Ford.,
I had hifh hopes for the volvo, but it seems to miss so many features the platform has for the other vehicles, that I am really thinking about getting the zeekr. The design of the volvo is unmatched, but no hud, a slower central screen and an all in all lower material quality is not really doing it for me here. I hope the will add at least the hud last minute, it really as a no go for me driving a car were I can't see the relevant infos directly in front...
I would 100% buy the Zeekr unfortunately not coming to US. EX30 For me.
Zeekrs are designed and developed in Sweden. Strange that Kris missed that. I don't really get the Zeekr brand. Is it supposed to be as premium as Volvo and Polestar? While Swedish developed it does seem to have an interior more catered to Chinese tastes while Volvo and Polestar keep the traditional Scandinavian style. So, in that way a loaded looking Zeekr may seem less luxurious inside than a more sober, more sparse Volvo or Polestar.
I agree with Kris about shared platforms. I get tired of reading people saying that cars that share the same platform are the same cars. No they are not. The platforms are tweaked by each car maker and what sits on top can be quite different which results in a different feel. Volvos have a Volvo feel regardless of platforms. I think Lynk and Co. kind of copied Volvos SPA cars (not style but undepinnings) so they have a somewhat similar feel from what I've read. I'm not sure with Zeekr but the body construction and overall suspension feel may be quite different between these cars. They're not Geely cars, they're brands owned by Geely but with different engineers and design teams creating from a similar base. btw, Geely uses a Swedish head engineer for their platform/chassis engineering.
I would take the Volvo EX30 for sure. I actually think the Zeekr X looks pretty cool on the exterior, but the Volvo just looks much better executed and more premium. I really don't like the aesthetic of the Zeekr's interior. The cityscape on the door panels looks ugly in my opinion, and the Volvo cabin lighting looks infinitely better/much more architectural. I also don't like the bronze accents in the Zeekr model shown. I do think it's too bad Volvo doesn't have a heads-up display or driver's display, but I can live with that for better style inside and out.
Architectural is what the Volvo looks like inside. Good description. For me, that's what it has over the Zeekr. It has that great industrial design.
EX30 is much better looking according to me
Looks like ZEEKR will surprise a lot of people. I believe that if you had seen the ZEEKR in reality as I saw the Volvo, you would have been more objective.
The Volvo is so minimalistic it is boring... Design is nice but too clean. Not a fan of center display only.
going the Tesla way with only the screen in the middle no instrument cluster behind the wheel and not even a headup display is just stupid fror a brand so proud about it's safety features , so that pretty much disqualifies the EX 30 for me
Volvo’s exterior is much better, for me. For the rest the Zeekr has better interiors, more space and for sure it will come standard with more complete equipment. Let’s see what the price will be.
I would choose the Volvo EX30 if it comes with a HUD. If not, then I go for Zeekr X.
Zeekr X. The Volvo looks too boring interior
Don't have to watch this video 😂 I know what I would pick 😂😂 Joking aside. Have to see it
I really don't understand their pricing - China vs the rest of the world. It's almost arrogant!
I think the Zeekr has better specs but I the EX30 will have better software.
The Zeekr X is designed in Göteborg, not in China.
I said that as well but my comment was removed. I’m pretty sure when Bjørn posted his Zeekr previews he was in there Göteborg studio.
Zeekr(ZheJiang Zeekr Intelligent Tech. ltd.) has 3 main design studio: Gothenburg studio for architecture, Shanghai studio for software , Hangzhou studio for Battery Electric Drive and Control. Zeekr Global Institute in Gothenburg.
From looking at the photo's and video on here, I much prefer the Volvo from the outside and the inside, the Zeeker's interior looks tacky and probably aimed at the US market, the only downside about the Volvo is not having a drivers display, which for me is a no no, I hope Volvo realise this is not only a major mistake, but also a sales loser !
1- You cant say they have the same minimalist interior. No way. Zeekr is waaay better and premium.
2- The Ex30 has crumped backseat. This is the deal breaker for me.
Volvo EX30 easily just based on design
if I were to buy an EV these days I'd definitely buy one of these two
Wow. The exterior design of the Volvo EX30 is really classy and beautiful while the exterior of the Zeekr X is horrendous. On the contrary, the interior of the Volvo looks like trash while the interior of the Zeekr feels really classy and premium. I feel that the fisher-price interior of the Volvo will be greeted by customers as a bad joke and that it might even stir a scandal not far from the bad perceived quality on the interiors of the first VW ID range (that VW is currently correcting with the Phase 2 of its electric models).
I like the design of the zeeker its more stylish but the Volvo is nice too
The zeekr is much more expensive than the Ex30 in most coutries... Its 10k € more exspensive in my market which is totaly mad for an unknown Chinese brand that doesnt offer any of the volvos environmental benefits
Volvo is 83% Chinese and Volvo is made in China, not in Europe.
@@protagonist9716 xc40/c40 are built in belgium. V60/90, xc60/90 are built in sweden and ex90 and s60 will be built in south carolina....
@@Kurre. And they're designed and crash tested and road tested and mostly engineered in Sweden. They do have sub design centers in California and Shanghai. The next big Volvo factory will be in Slovakia and the Swedish factory is being tooled to do megacastings on the upcoming EX60.
To sell the car låter, you chose the Volvo, but to use the car, you get the Zeekr...
same tech but Sweden brend VS pure China brend? Volvo of course
Zeekr is actually Swedish but seems aimed toward the Chinese market first.
The ZEEKR X is better and livvering december/Jan 2024. Volvo summer 2024, Not good
Zeekr.. All day
Chinese car is doomed in NA. No doubt Volvo is owned by Chinese but designed by Swedes also the brand is known.
