I don’t know if I would agree that the datedness makes things more boring, it depends… the skylark of space is still cool, and there’s something thrilling about outdated science.
I think it kinda reminds me of when I was a kid, for example stories that have Jupiter be an actual gigantic planet, it took me years to wrap my head around the fact that it’s all some kind of gas, there’s just something delightful about Jupiter the desert planet…

If I remember right Robur the Conqueror was the first Jules Verne I ever read… (or maybe 20000 leagues…), and I don’t remember a single thing about it 😂 I didn’t even know it had a sequel!
