The HP ones aren't the only wrong-backed cards. There's also cards from Fallen Empires with backs from the now-defunct Wyvern TCG. Honestly I'd much prefer those considering JK Rowling's... notoriety in recent years lol
I missed the name at the beginning and I was thinking "man this sounds just like the CEO of Grinding Gear Games it is actually crazy." XD I love that Chris and his team are so into nerd culture it really shows in POE
I remember walking around in public with a misprint binder 10 times the size of this. Then, they became valuable and all of it is under lock and key now.
I know a pretty funny story about those Harry Potter cards a kid back in the day opened a Scourge goblin mob starter deck and the entire thing was harry potter backing it was returned to the store owner and he sold it on eBay for 13,100$ only found one website with the story online happened in Bathurst New-Brunswick
It would be cool if WotC released promo arts for lands with a border like that. They're not very functional for normal play, but as a promo it would be great.
8:10 Those foil lands of a mountain and Island look pretty sweet. What's really weird to me about them is that they have the Unglued set symbol on them in the bottom left corner, and I recognized that the art on both is from the Nemesis card Parallax Tide.
Unbeliveable, one of the best videos i seen for a long. I just love missprints and this is probably the most awesome collection i ver seen. Thank you and congrats
I actually have a card like the Safe haven at 1:22, but the part that is missing is quite a bit smaller. And if anybody is curious, the card is Ordeal of Purphoros from the Theros set.
My friend Kevin would say they are "damaged" products. The nerdy debates we would have. They are unique and cool. Almost priceless because only one or two exist.
I had a few misprints in my original M:TG collection. Nothing since then. I even went through all my M:TG cards recently and found I had some foils I wasn't even aware of.
nice to see some of my things again, The plains is stamped at the top because the sheet was fed upside down and the stamp itself was shifted slightly. The heavy Blue ink island is also one of the best examples on a basic ive seen from the set. Way more drastic in person.
I remember buying my chick and myself two new edh decks, i forget which one i bought her, but every card in it minus the foils were miscut, it was crazy, literally every card.
Was at a throne of elderaine draft and about five different misprints circulated and they weren’t like screwed up words or anything, there were giant globs of ink on the fronts, and you could feel the globes to it was crazy
The different boarder foil Island and Mountain had the picture of Parallax Tide from Nemesis. The foil fire City of Traitors looks like it belongs in one of those other games you do box opening of.
I love this video, I'd seen pictures of most of these type of misprints, but seeing them in this video is awesome. That said, no Wyvern-backed Fallen Empires? Would've liked to have seen more of that kinda misprint. Loved seeing the test prints, though. That stuff is so cool...
My favorite misprint I've ever pulled was a non-foil pre release inscription of insight in the uncommon slot of a normal draft booster, I'm not sure what went wrong that day but it was an odd experience to say the least
I have a few oddities. Off the top of my noggin a miss-cut goblin that is not centered and a extremely dark phyrexian walker. I saw quite a few back in the day like a land that was a skeleton etc… hard to trade for them though when you were looking for deck stuff. Hindsight of course…
I have a phantom nomad, original printing, where the 1 in the colorless mana symbol is shifted down left. The weird part is that's the only shifted part
Is the Snow-Covered Island @0:48 still considered a rare find? I have eight like the one shown here, that I bought from an LGS circa 1995, but assumed they were common cards.
Great video, I do have a spanish black card that is foil and has no text for the text box area, it has name and all other stuff neat looking I got it at the prerelease for I dont recall like 16 years ago
When you said Chris Wilson I was thinking "wtf specify that it's not the real krillson you already had him on your channel!" but then I heard that NZ accent and deployed my poggers
The bottom left City of Traitors kinda reminds me of the Foils from the Harry Potter card game. Similar to modern magic foils but with little star and lightning bolt holograms scattered everywhere on the card.
I just pulled a flip card from Eldritch moon where the Eldrazi part on the flip side was printed in the wrong direction so you can only see a super large text box... it was the weirdest thing! I've been playing a long time and never had a misprint myself
I don't have a lot of misprints, but probably my favorite is an ovalchase dragster pre-release promo, that has the pre-release stamp lined up to the roadway that the dragster is on, so it looks like it's printed on the road, instead of in the Box. Not a massive difference but, by The Coincidence of it, I've always felt it was pretty cool.
This kind of surprised me, thinking of Magic misprints 2 cards directly come to my mind and I was quite surprised that you didn´t even had this "type" of misprint in the collection. Im talking about 2 german cards the "Herr der geplagten Skelette" aka Drudge Skeletons with a swamp picture and El-hajjáj with the warp artefact picture. Or did you just not mention them because these where quite common misprints (at least they where to me back in the days ^^)?
so is there a web page to get misprints appraised? I have a hour of devastation plains, forest, and island that have a giant blob of no ink in the middle. the plains actually has the "plains" text over the blob and the misprint calling when u put the cards together.
I bagged a misprint Chandra Torch of Defiance, it has a crimp line right down the middle. I've kinda wanted to post it to see if anyone else has the rest of the column from the sheet lol.
Rudy there is a misprint Fling from Amonkhet my friend has that has the foiling of a Toolcraft Exemplar from Kaladesh. Really weird but unique! Also when we were drafting one time, a SPLOTCH of black ink was indented into a card. The printer gave birth or something; it was wild.
A lot of expensive cards there. Unfortunately there are severe factory errors on several cards.
I'll give you five bucks for the full binder.
Hahah yeah.
i'm taking all the risk here
What are you, Rick from Pawn Stars?
The video is miscut too lel
this comment is misc
no it's not, Rudy just needed to hit that 10 minute mark for sweet ad revenue
That was pure genius on his end.
Drew CW
> Cuts video off early.
> "Oh, but he's stretching it to hit the ten minute mark!"
...Wat.
oHh gOddEmm
The Harry Potter backed one is definitely the coolest. I'd pay good money for wrong-backed cards.
The HP ones aren't the only wrong-backed cards. There's also cards from Fallen Empires with backs from the now-defunct Wyvern TCG. Honestly I'd much prefer those considering JK Rowling's... notoriety in recent years lol
"HP? that MUST be fake"
So, this is where all my POE supporter pack money goes... ;P
And lol my thoughts exactly. RIP 3k xd
He actually sold his Power 9 and Black Lotus to fun PoE in Beta
I missed the name at the beginning and I was thinking "man this sounds just like the CEO of Grinding Gear Games it is actually crazy." XD I love that Chris and his team are so into nerd culture it really shows in POE
I don't play magic
I'm not a collector
I watched the whole video
Cheers YT recommended
XD
Play some cheap commander with your mates, shits fun
even when im not playing path of exile chris wilson always finds a way to find me
hes in ur room, killin ur doodz
Shame we can't find him in game. *Slips in casual Krillson reference*
Watched this twice before I realized Chris Wilson with a new zealand accent was THE Chris Wilson of Grinding Gear Games
we will never know what was wrong with that last card :(
It's a foil test for a flame jet.
No text also
Chris Wilson as in the creator of PoE?
yes, you can tell by the voice or the tecent money spent to get the cards
ROFLOLMAO
Yea him n rudy are buddys
To be fair, he finished his Tundra collection years before that.. (and there's some practically one-of-a-kind cards in that collection.)
No wonder he had those expensive ass cards. lol
Man this is so epic honestly. I'm glad Alpha got these videos in with Chris Wilson. Wholesome
Man, imagine if Rudy did some more 'collab' vids with other Magic players/fans etc in other F2F events. Would be magnificent.
CHRIS! Congrats on getting POE to gold on Steam. You guys are amazing. Been playing since beta. Rudy, I love you as well, but this is Chris's video xD
I remember walking around in public with a misprint binder 10 times the size of this. Then, they became valuable and all of it is under lock and key now.
I miss your videos :(
Cool channel dude.
Enjoy your retirement on your own private Island my dude
We miss you bro
What happened to your videos, man?
I love this kind of thing, its like a secret underground that Wizzards dont want you to know about haha
Ah now i know where all my stash tab money in POE went
Holy shit it’s Chris Wilson with Grinding Gear Games!
I know a pretty funny story about those Harry Potter cards a kid back in the day opened a Scourge goblin mob starter deck and the entire thing was harry potter backing it was returned to the store owner and he sold it on eBay for 13,100$ only found one website with the story online happened in Bathurst New-Brunswick
yikes... :/ poor kid... got taken advantage of : (
@@JF.90 He sure did. If i remember well after it was a bit public the store owner gave the kid a bit of extra cash.
oh shit I live right near there haha
No way, that's so sad.
Chris Wilson from Grinding Gear Games
Chris: "Hello." Me: *jizzes*
OMG
is it him tho? :D
Love seeing miscuts and misprints. Really interesting content!
i was like "chris wilson? where do i recognize that name from?" then as soon as i heard him speak i was like "aah, of course!" :P
Those test foil mountain and island. I want them so bad.
Get a foil Parallax Tide from nemesis! close enough I'd say ;)
Licensed Plumber, how much $ do you want them?
It would be cool if WotC released promo arts for lands with a border like that. They're not very functional for normal play, but as a promo it would be great.
8:10 Those foil lands of a mountain and Island look pretty sweet. What's really weird to me about them is that they have the Unglued set symbol on them in the bottom left corner, and I recognized that the art on both is from the Nemesis card Parallax Tide.
This is the coolest mtg collection I’ve ever seen. I bet it’s worth 250k or more.
Unbeliveable, one of the best videos i seen for a long. I just love missprints and this is probably the most awesome collection i ver seen. Thank you and congrats
those basics with the side tab looked spectacular. super cool collection, thanks for sharing with us
I actually have a card like the Safe haven at 1:22, but the part that is missing is quite a bit smaller.
When you wanted to see "goodbye" but realized that you already got 10 minutes XD
That ending gave me abandonment issues
nice to see some of my things again, The plains is stamped at the top because the sheet was fed upside down and the stamp itself was shifted slightly. The heavy Blue ink island is also one of the best examples on a basic ive seen from the set. Way more drastic in person.
As someone who works in the printing industry I can tell you people get fired over stuff like this
No, people get fired for stuff like this making it out of the factory
I once pulled a pikachu that said raichu.
Cool stuff!! I got a German drudge skel/swamp misprint but these are wild!!!
Got an old box of cards from a buddy not too long ago. Got 4 misprints. They are my favorite!
I have a misprint rattle claw mystic with the date stamp right in the middle. I love seeing this
hi im from brazil, the portuguese flip misprint is actually very common, we had hundreds of those, pretty cool video rud
Sweet, I enjoyed chatting with Chris in vegas. Really cool misprints and test prints.
The different boarder foil Island and Mountain had the picture of Parallax Tide from Nemesis. The foil fire City of Traitors looks like it belongs in one of those other games you do box opening of.
That City of Traitors looks absolutely awesome.
Dude. I was positively surprised as you said "Chris Wilson" and it actually was the GrindingGearGames Chris Wilson! Amazing :-D
I love this video, I'd seen pictures of most of these type of misprints, but seeing them in this video is awesome. That said, no Wyvern-backed Fallen Empires? Would've liked to have seen more of that kinda misprint. Loved seeing the test prints, though. That stuff is so cool...
I really like the foil mountain and island in the thumbnail, would love to get something like those in the future
A REAL foil City of Traitors!! AAAHHH!! Dude! So cool! Nice sample collection!!
They didn't even do the last card, it's a misprint and a miscut!
Sounds like the video cut out at the end. Great collection. Keep it up rudy! I got a token from m25 that was double sided. Is that a missprint?
My favorite misprint I've ever pulled was a non-foil pre release inscription of insight in the uncommon slot of a normal draft booster, I'm not sure what went wrong that day but it was an odd experience to say the least
Me listening: Blablablabla Chris blablabla - Guy starts to talk.... Me: Oh hai Chris Wilson, tell me about the build of the week ^_^
Really cool stuff - thanks for showing us Rudy!
my friend has a missprint of urzas saga, it has more than half of it stained in yellow faded ink due too a print problem.
Rudy, was the bad cut at the end of the video intentional?
I have a few oddities. Off the top of my noggin a miss-cut goblin that is not centered and a extremely dark phyrexian walker.
I saw quite a few back in the day like a land that was a skeleton etc… hard to trade for them though when you were looking for deck stuff.
Hindsight of course…
I have a crimped beta and miscut stuff, it's great to look at what weird things can come out of the printers accidentally.
I have a phantom nomad, original printing, where the 1 in the colorless mana symbol is shifted down left. The weird part is that's the only shifted part
Wow nice video, show more of toose rare miss prints, i never saw this before
Also you cut out early again, is your camera messing up or are you just trolling us lmao
Well obviously his video QA is on par with WotC
I can imagine Rudy after the video going "So how much for the entire binder?"
Chris Wilson from GGG would've said "Outta your price range son" :D
Is the Snow-Covered Island @0:48 still considered a rare find? I have eight like the one shown here, that I bought from an LGS circa 1995, but assumed they were common cards.
More of this sort of stuff please. This is awesome and I'm not even that mad about misprints.
Couldn’t even finish saying goodbye due to exactly 10 min.
Amazing collection !
Thanks for sharing it with us :)
These are so cool to see! Thank you for sharing them! ^_^
Great video, I do have a spanish black card that is foil and has no text for the text box area, it has name and all other stuff neat looking I got it at the prerelease for I dont recall like 16 years ago
Wow so cool thanks for the neat video Rudy!
this is my favorite video on your channel!! XD thank you so much for this!!!
the 8th edition test print foil mountain and island are using parallax tide art.... holy moly
When you said Chris Wilson I was thinking "wtf specify that it's not the real krillson you already had him on your channel!" but then I heard that NZ accent and deployed my poggers
How could someone who owned a sheet manage to miscut a card so badly?
This is Chris Wilson from Grinding Gear Games.
the test mountain and island have the artwork from parallax tide, neat
That is where the foil sticker off of my ankle shaker when I was playing a sealed khans of tarkir went. French plains took it
The bottom left City of Traitors kinda reminds me of the Foils from the Harry Potter card game. Similar to modern magic foils but with little star and lightning bolt holograms scattered everywhere on the card.
This was an awesome video i really enjoyed it. Cheers Rudy
Is that Chris Wilson from Grinding Gear Games?
My favorite video you've ever done :)
I saw my friend pull a huntsmaster that was miscut, had part of another card at the top
Last page of that binder is easily a down payment on a nice house or a paid in full luxury model vehicle.
I just pulled a flip card from Eldritch moon where the Eldrazi part on the flip side was printed in the wrong direction so you can only see a super large text box... it was the weirdest thing!
I've been playing a long time and never had a misprint myself
the city of traitors alone are worth more than 10k each
Nah, the ripple foil one is only about 3-4k
7k and deal
Yeah, one of those ripples sold on ebay for 3.5k just a month ago
Where do you get these? Do those happen to end up in boosters or do you have special connections?
This is so cool. I’ve only pulled a few misprints. I have a turquoise carnage tyrant lol
"I hope everybody enjoyed it...." - And we never heard from Rudy again
Man those miss prints are beautiful. I only have one missprint and its an Foil Archangel Avacyn.
Rudy how did u make a metazoo video in 2018?
Missing one I've heard of. The regular art was missing, yet the card still had the foiling.
Or did you just not mention them because these where quite common misprints (at least they where to me back in the days ^^)?
i work in a facory and its amazing that people collect what is actually crap that gets thrown away
so is there a web page to get misprints appraised? I have a hour of devastation plains, forest, and island that have a giant blob of no ink in the middle. the plains actually has the "plains" text over the blob and the misprint calling when u put the cards together.
endbringer is a 5/5 not an 8/8. did they change it for the large version or something?
And here I am with my Meddling Mage with text that looks like it's bold and thinking I have a cool misprint.
The Harry Potter TCG was actually created and published by WOTC , so it makes a bit more sense why there would be some kind of mix up.
Next week on alpha investments: Rudy buys out the Standard mirror market
I remember that Hand of Silumgar promo misprint, wasn't it also in the guys prerelease kit for like Kaladesh, when DTK wasn't even standard legal?
I bagged a misprint Chandra Torch of Defiance, it has a crimp line right down the middle. I've kinda wanted to post it to see if anyone else has the rest of the column from the sheet lol.
Rudy there is a misprint Fling from Amonkhet my friend has that has the foiling of a Toolcraft Exemplar from Kaladesh. Really weird but unique! Also when we were drafting one time, a SPLOTCH of black ink was indented into a card. The printer gave birth or something; it was wild.
My boy Chris from grinding gears games ( that just sold out ), really he's a wonderful exile.
Is it Chris Wilson from GGG Poe ???
