- Album liner notes tell us this trio recording was made at "The Embers on Manhattan's elegant East Side."
My notes tell me to get strapped in before takeoff! I recommend listening to side 1 and 2 separately, with time and space to breathe. Bop-blues piano as an athletic event and I dig it!

Scott Yanow writes this about the album: "One of several Dorothy Donegan LPs that may be found in used record stores but have yet to be reissued on CD, this exuberant trio set (which finds the pianist accompanied by an unidentified bassist and drummer) was recorded at the Embers in New York in 1958. As usual Donegan, after usually stating a swing-based melody, rips into the music and comes up with lots of surprising ideas, often switching styles and showing off her virtuosity and flexibility. It is strange that she did not become a major box-office sensation during the era."
