Well played! Nice to hear a band other from here in the UK playing this, all the way in LAS VEGAS AMERICA!
Composer is Ralph Vaughan Williams not Robert
OR RAIF TO HIS CLOSE FRIENDS
@@MrDaiseymay Yes but it is still spelled Ralph!
Robert Vaughn was an actor....
Nice... All high brass are cones!
It's Ralph Vaughan Williams, not Robert . . ..
This was, perhaps, the exact opposite of the last performance I saw of this piece - just a brass ensemble as opposed to an entire symphony orchestra. I did find the substantial key change a bit distracting, but I suppose it was necessary. The second movement was a bit disorganized it seemed, and the soloist seemed flat, but on the whole it was an enjoyable performance, Well done!
The 1st Baritone Player is bobbing about so much that it's distracting
@@Jackson-sr7ms Nope, sorry, but Mr. Titterton is correct. That's the First Baritone [would be my] seat. Just look at the smaller bell on the instrument as well.
i prefer the orchestral version of this
Indeed, that is also an arrangement as the original is for military band. It is ironic that the orchestral arrangement is from a composer (Gordon Jacob) who also wrote well for brass band. The best orchestral version was conducted by Adrian Boult (in my opinion).
@@joe15000000king Interestingly, I somehow prefer the original military band version of "Folk Song Suite". The best military band version was conducted by Eugene Corporon (in my humble opinion).
@@joe15000000king I bought a Mercury import LP of Fredrick Fennell and the Eastman Wind Ensemble performing this piece (and the 2 very similar pieces from Gustav Holst) while I was still in High School. We played this and the Holst pieces in band and I grew to love them. This was over 40 years ago, BTW.
@@littlewillie65 Surely some of the most loved wind classics! Hopefully you'll be glad to hear that university and high school bands still perform these on the regular :)
I bet the conductor is glad he's not named Robert
