    That is some beautiful bacon! Thanks for the breakdown.

    That cost seems a little high but I think just maybe because you are working in Canadian. Here in WNY hanging weight cost for pig is more like $3 if you are also paying for the butcher. Just for anyone watching from other areas :)

      Yes keep in mind that on average our prices are double.

    Literally watching this and binging on your videos as I butcher up our pigs. Thanks for keeping me company!

    Brill! I'm kicking myself for not getting the ends and jowl from our last pig. Also, I have to practically beg my farmer to buy whole pigs. That's it. I'm leaving Colorado and moving to N.BC so you can be my local farmer. 😉😏 Keep up the good work. You are giving me gems of knowledge!

      They don't like to sell to consumer?? There is sooo much straight to consumer sales here

      @@VenisonforDinner I think it's more of an organization issue, but if you have meat to sell, then sell it !?!?! The dream is to raise my own meat and sell enough to pay for our own. Until then I live vicariously through you guys. Videos and recipes are fantastic!

    Fantastic video. We charge in a different way, but the cost works out the same. I am impressed with the cut selection. I think we will ask for smaller roasts, and more kinds of chops also. Cool beans. Thank youl

      Thank you! I'm going to do half a cow one too. This is the first time we've worked with this butcher so I'm intersted to see how they all look once they're thawed out and cooking

    I feel like my comment sounds negative 😂 but I didn't mean it to just informative. I think this was a great idea for a video. Have you done a lard rendering video? That would be super awesome! Ive been putting off rendering tallow for like a year. I don't even know if the fat is still good!

      I appreciated the comparison! I haven't done one yet but its due to happen soon. I'm sure your fat is still good

    How often do you buy half a pig and cow?

    • @VenisonforDinner
      @VenisonforDinner  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We raise it so we don't buy it, but half a pig and half a cow a year is good for our family!

      One of our friends gets it regularly from the slaughter house for soap making for her business! She said when she asked, will you have many pigs this week, they said yes but its Kate so you won't get the fat lol
