You know what I learned about cleaning roller bristles! Before I say , I’ve used a Tooth pick and sat and cleaned the bristles one by one , spent hours. And what I learned. Take roller off. Use garden hose on high pressure setting , and the bristles from bottom to top with hose cleans them spotless. I wish I would of known this a year ago. You wouldn’t think a hose will get twisted hair wrapped around each bristle. But it does wonders. Just a tip you might or might not know. It’s actually unbelievable!!!! I’m sure all of us at one point started on one bristle , digging hair out and it takes for ever. That’s my 2 cents. Also. I’m like you. I go through some rich neighborhoods and all my sweepers were once trash. A lot of them being plugged !
Thank you Hank. I could not figure out how to clean out the very bottom where it is really clogged. What a horrible design!! Wish my old Electrolux would have lasted longer…although I had it a long, long time.
Thank you for the video. We are having challenges with ours where the canister attaches to the tube. There seems to be a gap and dust and small particles fly out. Any suggestions?
Thank you for this video. I could not figure out what the issue was! There was dog hair stuck in the tube but, b/c the tube is basically black I could not see it. Oh and a pencil was in there too lol.
I just wanted to say thank you for this advice! I have a Hoover and it was clogged. I tried everything and nothing worked. So, I tried the water hose technique and a huge cat hairball came out!! Thanks again.
I have a Hoover elite whirlwind Plus . The bottom hose keeps clogging, no dirt goes in the canister, I have cleaned , filter , and canister. The brush is clean.what else can I check?
Hank, looks like nothing has changed at Hoover when I was in between jobs. I salvaged a wind Tunnel self propelled from new and salvaged but it's trash after 20 years with expensive replacement parts. BTW, the motor belt for the manual model is still the same part.
Why would you help me with my vacuum cleaner? I bought it 1 year ago, it is in very clean condition, but in the last few days it has not vacuumed and overheated and then it stops working. When I try to do it the next day I go through the same process, I'm thinking of buying a new one but I saw your video and I dared to ask you. Thank you very much, From Denver Colorado
Hank, Any chance you have any experience with replacing a bad on/off on a Miele Jazz upright vacuum. I don’t see any screws to release a cover unless the plastic cover just snaps over the switches.
You can pull them apart, there are alot of clips that you gotta be careful with, if its the old style even if youre out of warranty I think those were recalled, miele may send you a new handle assembly if you call them.
My mother in law has this exact vacuum. It doesn't seem to be clogged , but the motor is getting hot and then it shuts off. I'm gonna tear it apart like this to make sure. Suggestions??
I made a coat hanger tool, bent 90 degrees to fish around the section between hose and brush area. The old self propelled is heavy, 28 pounds. The new is about 16 pounds.
If the vacuum is this nasty I want to know what the inside of home looks like that this vacuum came from lol. This vacuum can't be more then three years old or so. I have the same one and it's about two years old and still looks fairly new.

Thank you for posting this video! My vacuum cleaner had a clog for a couple of weeks now. I followed your steps and it is as good as new. 😁
I just wanted to thank you. A newly divorced middle-aged woman who had never fixed a vacuum was successful because of this video

Thank you Hank! Your video tutorial will be a great help in unclogging my Hoover.

Glad you got it working!
I run a water hose through the Vacuum hose and it will push the clogs out

Sounds like something is lodged inside like a pen or hair clip
Thank you for the help!!!

Sounds like a clog in one of the lines or the air filters are clogged up

awesome vid! great info and advice!
Nice fix, man!
Can clogging kill the power? Suction was very poor. Now nothing
Yea issue can also be both your filters are clogged and need to be replaced
why is my belt loose, the tensioner lever doesnt apply enough tension, i dont know why
Joey, check if the bearings on the roller brush are free of hair. Bearings comes off on older rollers. They jam up with hair to stop the roller.

Yea check the filters. They could be restricted enough to cause that
@@hanksgarage_ thanks for your video. I fixed that dam vacuum. I found a water bottle cap trapped in the dam hose.
Good video. I'll try that.thanks 👍
how much do you get for these vacuum's?
Depends. These cheaper ones I usually just donate. But I make the money on the back end from the ad revenue. They do well usually.
My Wind Tunnel vacuum clogs very quickly and very often. Also it's cumbersome and heavy. I will not be buying another one.
I made a coat hanger tool, bent 90 degrees to fish around the section between hose and brush area. The old self propelled is heavy, 28 pounds. The new is about 16 pounds.
Thanks
