I have this exact same vacuum - have had it for almost 11 years and it has worked perfectly until I cleaned up a TON of pet hair recently. I thought maybe that was just the end of its life and was starting to look at new vacuums, but then I tried your tips and that last one was spot on - HUGE clog right in the base of that tube. It's back to working like new again!!! Thanks for saving my vacuum!!!

Tried cleaning all the filters with no luck. After watching your video we tried the "elbow" tube #5 and voila, it was majorly clogged. Vacuum is working better than ever! Thanks so much!

Yes, it worked for me. Before I share my story, Thanks a bunch for the tips!
My partner wants to throw away the vacuum cleaner as it was not working after using that pipe vacuum. I watched this video before but didn't pay attention to the clog in the pipe. Bought a small vacuum cleaner. My partner again reminded me to throw away the vacuum cleaner and I thought I should give it another try before throwing it away as everything else sounds great. This time when I watched it again, I checked that pipe and it was fully clogged. Cleaning that pipe brought back the vacuum cleaner to life.

All week I have been trying to determine why my vacuum has not been up to speed and it has been very frustrating. I looked at many sites with no success and then yesterday when I had almost given up I saw this video and thrilled to say that my Hoover Windtunnel 2 is working better than ever. He doesn't go on and on like so many others and gets right to the point. I simply followed his advice and tested the 5 most common reasons for a vacuum to become clogged and bingo - found the problem. He knows the product, gets right to the point and easy to follow. A refreshing experience when so many others are not.

This was a lifesaver. I had actually ordered a new filter, but I figured I would look troubleshooting up online, just in case I had overlooked something. And BOY, had I overlooked something. That hose-clog straw removal? I found a peach pit, a pen, a hair clog worthy of Rapunzel, and an entire fruit snacks wrapper in the bend. Yes, I had to use pliers to dislodge some of them. Totally worth it. My vacuum sucks again! Thanks for your help.

*This quick video just saved me a hundred bucks!* I ran through all these steps and found it was the hose that was clogged. I ended up using a couple of connected fiberglass tent poles to force a clog out of the hose (no easy task, even with the hose fully detached!) and the vacuum is working like new again!
*CAUTION:* after jostling around all the pieces to shake out excess dust, the first run of the vacuum cleaner will make a HUGE dust cloud, so, do the first run outside the house or you'll sorely regret it.

There's one more! I went through all 5 of these but there's a close relative of 5: It's possible - especially if you have pets - to get a big ol' hair clog down in the tube segment that is IN the base (the bit that the tube you show in 5 clips onto). You can test for this by pulling out the tube (as if you were going to put the mini-roller attachment on and clean a corner) and see whether that has suction. If that has suction and your roller works but your vacuum still isn't picking anything up, I recommend getting a drain cleaning device (especially one that touts itself on dealing with hair clogs, like Drain Weasel) and going after the clog with that. The tube is short enough that you should be able to put the device all the way through from top to bottom. If you can't, twist it around to try to grab the clog, and see if you can pull it out. It may take four or five clumps to clear it up.
The other easy way to recognize this one is it doesn't register as poor suction. The indicator will stay green; You just won't be picking anything up.

This video just saved me $200 on a new vacuum. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
I have the Hoover Performance Max Pet and I'm not sure how my cats aren't bald they shed so much and all that hair clogged my vacuum. I took the thing apart a few times, cleaning out all the places that had to do with suction.. I cleaned the top filter, and checked the HEPA filter.. both were clean, and it would still turn read when I turned it off..
The Hoover page didn't help me and I was getting frustrated. I found THIS Video and when I saw you mention the little spot on the back, bottom I tugged on the tube and sure enough.. CLOG hiding behind that plastic piece. I followed your instructions and IT WORKS AGAIN!!!!! I could probably actually suck up one of the cats with it now...hahaha Thank you!!!!!

Wow Wow Wow.... Thank you for posting this video. My Windtunnel lost all suction and I checked 4 of the 5 areas. No improvement. II thought I would need to buy a new one. I really didn't want to do that. So for a long time, I just did without. I remembered your video and did all 5 areas. Yep there was a huge clog in the hose. I completely cleared that and my Windtunnel is like new. Thanks for your video. I promise I will watch and follow all the steps next time. :)

You are AWESOME!!! Thank you :D My vac stopped working over 2 weeks ago. I tried cleaning the HEPA filter, the brushroll, and tray, and nothing. I still have the original manual and there is absolutely nothing on how to remove the hose in its entirety; it wouldn't have even occurred to me to do that. I spent 8 days trying to get through to Hoover which has the most unfriendly customer service hours for support for anyone on the West Coast (M-F until Noon!!!) and the chat agents never pickup. I was ready to throw the vac out and buy a different brand. I finally succeeded in getting someone today after well over 15 tries. After an hour on the chat, they linked me to your video! And although it took some effort to remove the hose and made a huge mess, it finally worked. Thanks again.

Thank you for these great tips!! I have followed all of them but cannot get my hose unattached at the far end. I detached the part underneath to give me more leverage but it just won’t budge. I even tried channel locks but almost cracked the plastic. Please help me!!! 😳

I figured it out... I removed the entire back panel and was able to twist the hose right off. I found large drywall chunk lodged in the hose... thrilled to have solved the mystery...thanks to you!!

glad you got it unclogged! I've definitely had similar clogs with drywall after doing some remodeling :)
