  • Training/Manning a Cooper's Hawk for Falconry - ACR Outdoors
Join us this week as we start our training/manning of our female Cooper's Hawk.
Thanks for watching our falconry adventures and make sure to check out my other videos as I have lots of how to videos on falconry (i.e. how to trap a hawk, how to train a hawk for falconry, how to build a giant hood, how to trade off and many more) We are also working toward "going live" on some hunts so you can join us and see what falconry is all about.
A falconry license is required to own/hunt a red tailed hawk in Ontario.
Contact Ontario hawking club for more information.
I'm still new to falconry as its only my 3rd year so please check with your sponsor if you have any questions.

Just recently got a chinese spar few days ago, a small accipiter, he hasnt mantled at all since I got him. Why do all the accipiters ive seen on the internet seem like they mantle so much? My spar is a bout a year old judging by his plumage, still got some brown in there. Trapped right when I got him.

Good luck with your first coops! They are my absolute favorite species to fly. I'm currently working with a new passage female myself this year and shes already got a few wild sparrows. Luckily with no carrying hopefully it stays that way 🤞haven't gotten into the doves or bunnies yet. The more time you spend with her without food the less she'll be aggressive and you might get footed in the beginning but I like to play with my birds feet everyday. Makes changing Jesses and installing bells a breeze. What are you planning to hunt her on?

I'm so excited to hunt her and the plan is to fly her on grouse over my English setter puppy

@@ACRfalconry nice! I wish we had grouse here in pa. Well we have ruffled grouse but my farm has no habitat for them.
